Hall of Famer
Time for a winning streak
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings rarely played on December 27th mostly because they were good enough to play Christmas games. On the same day of th elast year Kings beat - who else - Clippers 110 - 93 on the road to improve to 11-17 for the season at that point. Kings really struggeld at that time and it took the Clippers to end the losing streak. Mike Bibby had a great game and Brad and Kevin weren't far behind. Mike lead Kings witj 38/4/19, Brad had 23/10/5 and Kevin had 20/8/5/2st. Cisco was also good with 11/6/3/2/3. We didn't have much bench considering that Pedja, Bonzi and SAR didn't play that night.

The Kings beat the Clippers for the 10th straight time and 15th time in 16 meetings without Peja Stojakovic, Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Bonzi Wells,, who are averaging a combined 48.7 points.

"There was nothing we could do about it. The game still goes on, so we still had to play," Bibby said. "The guys stepped up and everybody played good all the way around."We were running a little bit and got easy baskets in transition. We played together on both ends of the court. We passed the ball and made them work on defense. It was a good win for us."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings cashed in on all the breaks that they were given to beat the Nuggets and improve to 11-14 for the season which is barely better than Knicks these days but keep the Kings in the striking distance to the PO spots. It was a quality road victory regardless on the circumstances. Now with Sixers, Clippers and Warriors coming up - Kings should try to get back to .500 because if it doesn't happen now - it might not happen at all this season. On the other hand we are perfectly capable of losing to anyone at any time under any circumstances - hence we will just have to wait this one out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
So how bad are we really ? Only Clippers have a worse record in our division for now. We have won less games than Knicks, we have worse record than Blazers, worse road record than Hawks etc. Still we aren't in such a bad shape yet and certainly in case of a miracle (trade or resurection of some players) we can make POs, but things have changed and I don't like changes like this. People say that sometimes it takes several steps backwards to go forward or that You have to become really bad so that You can be good again. It makes sense in a way. But - how that works if You are just mediocre and You are not going anywhere. When You are not going backward or forward but just standing in one place. What happenes then ? Do You just suck till the end of time or is there a way out somwhere. Looks like we are up against a
Sisyphean challenge these days. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well if I was Santa...

Mike would get either a one way ticket out of Sacramento or I would have to inwent a player that is worse than him to make him feel better.
Kevin would get better teamates and Bruce Bowen free pass
Brad would get new feet which are healthy and can "leap" at least 3 inches above the ground
Ron would get a new hamster for his wheel or I would make ot one better and get him a squirrel - it is much more active
SAR - I would get him some duct tape because nothing else would shut him up. Also I would get him a starting job.
KT, Mo, Hart - see Bibby
Price - I would get him more minutes
Corliss - one more PO appearance before the retirement.
Salmons - more games like last night
Cisco - A brand new wheel and the hamster and a remote control for it just in case.
Muss - I would give him a new job coaching Lakers
------------------------------------------------------------------------
At this point of time - I am not sure what to think of Ron's absences but I am not sure that I believe all the "injuries" that we have been give as explanations especially considering the circumstances. I am not buying it. We all know the risks that come with Ron Artest and in the beginning things went well but lately I don't like the direciton in which everything is a geading. Only thing that is pretty much certain - is that Ron will not stay in Sacramento after his contrafct is up. Everything else is optional including the picking and choosing where and when to play. Well, at least we activated Mo Taylor:rolleyes:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
And Mo Taylor contributed and sadly enought we needed every single bit of that contribution. How bad do You really have to be if You suck so much that a coach has to say - get up Mo - You are in. now that I am thinking about it - we traded Skinner for nothing - right ? The Phraoh would do much better job than what we have been getting out of our "big" man with exception to SAR who is pretty good for what we are paying him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Man, all these breaks we got last night and we almost didn't take advantage of it. Not only did Denver miss 60 pts 20 rb 10 *** 5 st and 5 bl last night but also what they had didn't play well at all. We almost lost to a team with the starters - Boykins/Kleza/Diawara/Najera/Nene. We weren't really good enough, we just sucked less and we didn't have as many excuses. However - win is a win and we need those in a really bad way.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM went to Reggie Evans for puting up Shaq like numbers including FT shooting which we needed big time
LW-VC award went to Diawara who made this win possible. Honorable mention in this category are Bibby and Williamson
JHA award went to Kenny Thomas by defoult. Any Kings player who gets outplayed by Mo Taylor is an authoumatic JHA winner. Thanks for nothing again- KT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sixers are next and they really suck. They did win their last game beating Boston but they are by far the worst team in the league. We play at home and we have got to come up with a W. With Webber being injured - they are bunch of "no names" and potential and future TDM award winners but with or without Ron we should have enough to win this one.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - booooooooooooooooooooooo
Kevin - just stay healthy and keep it up
Ron - wuss
Brad - much better
SAR - shut up already
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
KT - boooooooooooooooo
Corliss - not to bad overall
Salmons - hell yeah
rest mateen
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - what exactly are You doing man ? Future head director of FEMA.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no scale that could express - how bad a loss against Sixers would be. And of course - we are capable of anything. If Webber doesn't play - they have no players capable of puting up big numbers and yet we all know that couple of the will. I assume that Ashton Kutcher will have a good game. My TDM pick is wille Green or any other guard not named Andre Miller
LW-VC award is a close call. Bibby is a favorite. KT isn't far behind. Webber might be there is he plays. JHA award is reserved for a player who will be outplayed by soon to be starting PF Mo Taylor.. Kings win or else.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like only to point out that Bibby didn't attempt to take over the game. He ran the team but he let Salmons and the others who were making their shots do most of the work. Yes, he did still take shots - and I'm glad he did - but I think you're a little too hard on him, piksi.

I did notice that his shot is finally starting to look right as far as technique goes again. The wrist snap that has been missing seems to be coming back...

Would I give him an A or B? Probably not, but I think a C+ under the circumstances would have been merited. (Where are the grades, BTW? Did I miss them? Are they here, hidden somewhere?)

Being "too hard" is due to the accumulation of all things that happend this season and not only the last game

As for the grades - we did not have any last night. I am the only one working here these days;) (ops forgot Slim)

And thanks for that, as also, for the great as always, game thread.

Regarding Bibby, I too thought that he didn't shoot a lot last night (for him), and that that was a good sign. He can and should run the offense as he rediscovers his stroke. Even against the Wizards, in the first quarter, he was attacking the rim, and creating opportunities for others. Then Muss decided to sit him and Brad (who himself was having a good quarter) for a long time in the second, and both were not the same again.

In one of the earlier games this season, Mike was just standing behind the 3 point line and shooting up jumpers that he was continually missing. At least he is more active now. Hope he shall rediscover his stroke soon (Clippers game should help him).

Always nice to see Webb back at Arco

Considering we have a pretty good chance of winning, too, I think I'm gonna enjoy this game. :)

Sixers are playing well with Andre Miller. It is against the Knicks so you never know for sure though lol

I would be interested to see that game now that I have seen the numbers...I cannot remember a game where CWebb shot the ball as well as he did (9-13) since he has been in a Sixer uniform.

Still, the Kings should be able to continue pushing toward .500 for the season with the Sixers in town. The Knicks were still playing with a thin lineup/bench due to the "brawl".

Seriously? Your first game at ARCO?

Enjoy! It's a great place to watch a basketball game.

Oh yeah! If you ignore the dripping cielings, the cracked plastic seats, and the virtual ladder you have to use to get to the upper levels, it's really a magical place ;)

If we lose this game, I'm going to cry. Seriously.

But those things all give it the Arco character...

It beats having to watch a game in Oakland. That arena sucks big time.

Sixers play at Golden State tonight. Maybe they'll be tired after running around trying to catch Nellie's offense.

In theory, the Kings should beat the Sixers 9 times out of 10.

My life has become so busy that i have little free time to even post on this board anymore...and very rarely do i LITERALLY laugh out loud when i type "lol"...but this right here piksi...however twisted it may be...made me LOL...nicely done

The Sixers looked awful last night. Except for Andre Miller who actually played as well as I've ever seen him.

Korver couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

And Webber. It was just sad. He looked beaten down and sat on the bench a lot.

And another TDM goes to Matt Barnes playing against a former team. I hope he's got it out of his system.

I think we win handily but Andre Miller will probably drop his usual triple double against Bibby and Joe Smith will go for a season high for rebounds tonight :D

It would be poetic justice if Chris Webber had another triple-double in Arco.

If Artest doesn't play tonight then I would think that would be a good indication that the Kings are trying to trade him.

The way he looked last night:eek:

Tonight is a back to back situation:D

I would say that Webber has a chance to get a tripple double same way that Mo Taylor does. On the other hand - playing Kings caused Matt Barnes to have a career night - so impossible is nothing.

As long as the Kings win - I could care less

I think Chris WILL have a triple double and he'll do it by making all of our 'bigs' look real bad, too.(no matter how bad he's playing right now, it's not like our 'bigs' can really guard a hell of alot these days.) Hey, here's a thought...the Sixers are trying to buy out Webb's contract...why not bring him back if they do?? At least it would give me, not to mention alot of OTHER Kings fans, something to feel good about.
