Put him in, coach. He's ready to play the game!!!

Any questions?

It's crazy he's still so rotund even after losing 50 pounds! Hopefully he can lose the rest and keep it off. I'm rooting for him.

Not too farfetched.

It's embarassing how much social media is pushing this dude when he's going to be out the league and playing in japan in a few years .

He's a Cinderella story. Everybody loves a Cinderella story. I just don't get why some are so upset about people rooting for him and wanting him to succeed. I hate to say it, but some Kings fans have become snobs.

It's because we've attained a reputation (quickly) as a joke of a franchise under Vivek who makes incredibly baseless moves on the basketball front then parades his daughter at halftime to try and make her a pop star. He's running an NBA franchise like a mom and pop soda shop and this just adds to it. This issue, in and of itself, wouldn't cause as much furor. But you add it to the pattern that we've had, and to some people it just looks like another slap to the face of basketball.

I think with all the bad decisions made this year, some people are a bit over eager to be critical of every little thing the FO does....

If Sim was getting PT over somebody more deserving, in a season that wasn't already flushed down the toilet, that would be one thing...

If Sim was overpaid or got a roster spot over a better prospect, that would be another thing....

But Sim is on a ten day, he's getting PT over Hollins (who is useless), and Moreland is injured... so who cares?!

I'm rooting for him. I could care less about him being the first Indian player in the league (although that is neat), what I do care about is that he's 7'5 and skilled.

If he can actually get in good enough shape to play spot minutes, this could turn into something way bigger than a harmless PR move.

So go Sim!

(Although, in defense of the haters, Kings are pimping the hell out of the signing)

This. In terms of the basketball implications, who cares? It isn't costing us anything and unless he loses the weight equivalent of a fat golden retriever, he's unlikely to be on the team next year.

As another example of our wacky owner pulling a publicity stunt that most people mock, it's irritating but Vivek will either figure it out or he won't.

I'm rooting for him but that's not gonna stop me from making jokes at his expense.

There's no reason the guy can't lose weight with the right diet. Get him on the right program and maybe we have something down the road. It's up to him really.

I want him to succeed but I don't want him playing because he is a novelty. I think he has a legitamate chance to play in the league someday but let him earn it when he is ready. It's like giving a kid an A in a class because he has lots of struggles. No shame in the try and sim should be proud of his progress but don't lower the bar because of what he is.

He will earn it clearly. If he didn't he'd be starting right now.

He's been given a couple of minutes. Coach obviously knows he's not ready.

Highlights:

Not bad. That's 6'9 245 pound Jack Cooley, another D-Leaguer who the Jazz just signed to a multi-year deal after 2 10 days.

So not the greatest competition, but it's nice that Sim embarrassed him - grabbing that board while fighting off Cooley with pretty much zero effort was cool.

I'm certainly not a Vivek sympathizer, but this is purely a international goodwill/marketing move, and it doesn't irritate me, and I don't see why it would be mocked. Lost season; let's at least get on the map doing something newsworthy that isn't f-ing up.

I'm not talking about the jokes. I'm talking about the people who are mad that he was even called up and given an opportunity as though the Kings are too good to do something so absurd.

Perhaps what we need to root for is for our owner, Ranadive, to be the NBA equivalent of the A's Charley Finley when he was the owner. He used to pull all kinds of crazy PR stunts, some not so good, but his A's went on to win a few world championships.

Let's open up a roster spot to the make-a-wish foundation while we're at it. Lost season. How bout bringing in air bud? It's a lost season, may as well get on the map doing something newsworthy. Hell, let's sign a female player too. We can do tons of stuff to be newsworthy. TONS of publicity.

I have no problem with the first one. For a 10 day at least. Bullar has the most NBA potential of anyone I'm familiar with on our D-League roster, so I have no problem. If that person were a female player instead, even better. And, sure, a dog is a good comparison.

If Sim can play in the NBA he'll play in the NBA. If he can't, he won't. No amount of marketing push is going to consistently get a guy undeserved court time. Maybe very briefly as a marketing ploy, but it's up to him whether that's all it is. At his size, he has a chance to be more, even if the reason for his first opportunity was also primarily a PR opportunity.

That said, I don't know if this was posted but I read a really interesting article on Bhullar.

http://www.slcdunk.com/utah-jazz-articles/2015/4/5/8350575/nba-india-kings-jazz-sim-bhullar-nri

One of the major points is that while Sim may be the first player of Indian descent to play in the league, he's not the first Indian player, at least in the minds of many in India. Unlike Yao, who was born in China and came up through Chinese basketball leagues, Sim was born in Ontario and came up through the Canadian basketball system which makes for a distinctly different story. Definitely worth a read if you haven't already.

7'5" centers don't grow on trees you know. Even less 7'5" guys with a nice touch. He may not be ready, but this is a far higher percentage play than David Stockton was for instance, publicity angle or not.

This.

I hate to say it (and no, I'm not calling anyone on here a racist), but I think the fact that Sim is of Indian descent is why this signing is so polarizing.

Would he be getting this hyped up if he wasn't the first player of Indian descent playing for a team with an Indian owner? Probably not. Now poor Sim is getting backlash just because the move has Viveks fingerprints all over it, and frankly, every other Vivek move has been horrible. If Sim wasn't Indian, Vivek wouldn't push the PR as much (if at all) and this would be seen as a basketball move, not a Vivek move... In reality, it's both.

But signing a skilled 7'5 guy to a 10 day? That is about as low risk/high reward as it gets. Dude still needs to lose a lot of weight, but if he can get down to 300lbs or so, I don't see any reason why Sim can't stick around as part of our bench for a long time.

I for one am not giving sim backlash. But he is not ready despite being 7'5" let him slim down in SL and reno until he is ready. That way it in fact is not about race or ethnicity and in my opinion is legit and something to celebrate. The current PR gimmick is shameful.

It's a 10-day contract at the end of a long and less than fruitful season. Quite frankly, the fact some of you have made such a big deal about it is ludicrous.

As people have tried to say, he's 7'5" tall. IF this little taste of the NBA gets him more motivated to get himself into NBA-worthy shape, then guess what? We've got first dibs on a guy who is SEVEN FEET FIVE INCHES TALL. If it doesn't work out, I ask again - WHO DOES IT HURT?
