He's probably "better" than those guys. He just can't show it right now.
He's extremely slow, gets winded very easily and is not mobile on the court. But he's got obvious size, has nice touch on his shot and actually plays with skill.
Those guys could actually play (poorly) in a game where Sim probably can't right now. But I agree, no risk/decent reward.

There is no harm in seeing what he's got. And it's always about marketing. Not just with Bhullar.

Well if he can improve his conditioning to a certain point in summer league and D league, I would think he might be useful as a Back-up to Big Cuz, especially if we trade JT
our other PF crew really can not defend real tall big men. Even Boogie sometimes has problems defending or gets in foul trouble against tall timber
Well how do you defend against a scoring 7 footer? Get a taller 7 footer.
Also if our bench scoring PF is Landry, maybe a tall tree can make up for a smaller bench PF, rebound any misses

Since there is a large Sikh population in Yuba City, I'm sure he'll get a lot of local interest. The Kings won't park him in D-League. If anything, they'll use him for community outreach, public appearances, etc. I'd just as soon he have a roster spot as Jason Terry.
Doubt that. Terry's roster spot is all about $5M in expiring salary. Probably wouldn't be the best idea to waste a roster spot on a guy making nothing that can't play.
Whatever. You're being way too serious. I used Jason Terry as an example since we didn't even see him in a Kings uniform and I'm not even sure he's been given a number.
And, FTR, "can't play" isn't exactly right. He can play...it's his conditioning and stamina that seem to be the biggest red flags.

Always bothers me when people move to a new country, have children and the children are supposed to be part of the old country which they did not grow up in. But yes, gathered from the father's head gear they were Sikhs.
I'd kinda like to see him wear the headgear just for poos and giggles. 7'5" standing, 8' tall fully dressed.

What's the harm? Even if we sign him for the year, he'll probably spend that year in the D-League. That's what the D-League is for. I'll say it again, the NBA needs to change the rules so that teams can sign players, and develop them without them counting against the salary cap. Right now, teams have no protection against other teams just calling up, and possibly signing players off their D-League team. Unless of course a player is under contract to the parent club.

If he makes it to the roster, they're not gonna park him in Reno. He'll be on the bench with the Kings, and serve as a inspiration to all those kids in India just becoming familiar with the game of basketball.

I know you thought I was being too serious last time so this will probably be more of the same but unless we're just trotting out an Indian kid for pr, I hope he ends up in the dleague.
It's the best step for his development and frankly I find it kind of offensive to think we'd look at that decision without considering his career (and the inspiration someone actually succeeding would represent).

A lot of scouts liked Bhullar as an NBA project. Some thought he might be drafted late in second round. Kings giving him a look is well worth it. I saw him play couple times at New Mexico St. on TV and he was not some big hulk useless out there. Plodding yes, but seriously filled the middle, rebounded, passed nicely, scored some, blocked a few shots and was good enough to twice win WAC MVP plus help his Aggies reach NCAA tourney.

) Then I am a Sikh. Oh wait, I am also a 'BHULLAR'. I think Sim will be a fan favorite. Being a hard working kid he is, will find some role with Kings. Hell, i don't care if they keep him for practices and garbage time. He will be a great ambassador for Vivek in promoting BB in India and the Kings getting foothold in a very big market. There is large Sikh community in Yuba Sutter, Bay area and the Central valley. Every November Yuba City holds a Sikh parade of 70 to 100k people. I will ask Vivek to bring Sim atop a Kings float. Him and Kings be showered with love. Childhood pics of Sim(from video) look alike my 10yr son who loves BB and plays yba. Just gotta change his jersey from first name to last, 'Bhullar' New found inspiration Btw, there is another 17 yr 7.5' Sikh boy in the works Satnam Singh Bhamra.

If- and this is a big if- he gets in better shape, we might have something here. The dude is surprisingly nimble for a guy 40 or 50 pounds heavier than his ideal playing weight.

LOL. That's a ceremonial extravagant turban. Even a standard Sikh turban adds 2-3 inches and I think Sim will look good in Purple. I wear purple @Kings games.

If this guy can lose even more weight, to where he can constantly run up and down the court, that would be awesome.
He has a really nice shot and seems to be a bright guy. Really excited to see him in summer league. Not sure about him ever playing with cuz (they would get destroyed by the pick and roll) but a backup role would be nice. In time

Is there any Mark Eaton in him?
If he could loose another 15-20 lbs he may be mobile enough in a slow down offense, half court offense like Utah used to run when they had mark eaton.

What have we got to lose if we sign this Kid?
Some think IT is enough as one of our "big 3".
I am pretty sure this kid will be sufficient enough for them too as answer for that need for a shot-blocking big.
It will be big time entertainment and exciting to see this kid and IT play at the same time in actual NBA games.

While no one's ever going to mistake the guy for Yao or anything, none of us have any idea of what he could do on the court once he's in semi-good shape.
Considering our backup center is only going to play 10 to 15 minutes a night barring something bad happening to Boogie, all we really need is for Sim to be an effective rebounder and drive impediment who doesn't collapse out of exhaustion after five minutes of action to have this transaction be a net positive. This is really more of a indictment of most of our back-up centers since Samurai Scot more than me being blindly supportive of the Super Sikh (saying before Jerry has a chance to)

I like the kid, someone for Cousins to beat up on in practice but at the same time its only going to make this kid better.
Imagine when Shaq gets a hold of him, he is already pretty well coordinated, which is rare for players his size.
If he can just stay angry if he ever plays, and if he can drop a significant amount of weight. I think he will play.
