Sign and Trade with Darius for Steve Blake - Rumor

Uh, why? I don't dislike Blake, but he'd get little PT here, and be the third PG behind Hart and Bibby. I think we could get someone better/more useful than Blake for Songaila, or should just keep Songaila.

beat me to it.

I know Evenstar might be a fan of Blake (after the game at the KF get together, Blake went off for his season high 17 off the bench).

That trade, by itself, doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. The Kings just got a backup point guard in Jason Hart, and they need all the big help they can get. Plus, I'd have to believe (hope) that Songaila would be worth more than Steve Blake.

The only way it makes sense is if they suddenly need point guard help -- i.e., a trade involving Bibby. Even neither Blake nor Hart is a starter.

I would think if the kings were thinking about trading bibby they would have kept Jackson un less were getting nash or somebody as good as bibby in return. I couldn't imagine them starting hart or one of young guys at the point.

I remember that! Blake was doing really good and Evenstar disliked him!! That was kinda funny! Anyway, at least we get another trade piece but i don t understand why we got a pG, not a OF, or SF, or C!

That's what I was trying to say, but I was thwarted by a typo: Neither Hart nor Blake is a starter.

Beyond that, though, why would the Kings trade a big guy for a small guy, the way their roster looks?

considering the way he played against us the last time - I think it is better for us to have him do "mateen" instead playing us again

Yeah the only thing i can think of is hes working on somthing to bring in some big guys from a team maybe that needs some little guys thats why he pyleing up on gaurds With petrie its hard to understand what hes doing :)

Well, I know one thing, Larry Brown loves Bibby's game and I wonder if a Marbury/Bibby trade is in the works? Who knows rumors are just that, to get people talking about stuff that normally doesn't happen.

The only thing I can figure would be that Darius expressed that he didn't want to come back to the Kings (he might not want to have to compete with KT, Skinner, Williamson and a MLE free agent for playing time), and Petrie is just trying to get something back in return, maybe a future trade piece. I agree with people though, this would be very curious if true.

I just checked out Marburys stats from last year and he does put up the numbers. He is a big strong PG 6' 2" 200 pounds.

PPG 21.7
AST 8.1
REB 3.0
STL 1.49
FG% .462
FT% .834

Baron Davis once said Stephon is better then Kidd and Richmond once said Marbury was the best PG in the game.

With that said however, I still would like to keep Bibby myself but if it were to happen, the team would be a lot tougher in the backcourt.

Marbury PG
Bonzi SG
Peja SF
Miller C
Thomas PF

This trade was probably scrapped since Petrie got Hart. Probably an old attempted trade that never panned out. I wouldnt believe this.

Doesn't make sense. Darius opted out of a contract that would have paid him $1.7 million next year. Why would he accept another contract starting around the same? He is worth more than that even if it did have several years to it.

Oh my, trading Bibby. Even seeing that in print makes me quesy. Bibby
is the heart of the team.

Great player, but no one else would see the ball and what's left of our team chemistry would be forever lost.

That said, I don't see any of this happening. As many people have said, it just doesn't make sense after picking up Hart.

More play time?

Not sure if he would get more time or not. In Washington he would be behind Jamison.

If it were true, something else would have to be the motivator for the Kings.

Nice. You make that one up just now? Marbury wants to play in NY. Thats his hometown. The one thing I do believe is that one of the core 3 guys will be wearing a new uni come next season. Wonder who it will be?

I think that might well be the deal.

BTW, where did this Marbury stuff come from? And WHY would trading Bibby for Marbury make ANY difference to picking up Steve Blake? Makes no sense. Still have a full time PG (either Bibby or Marbury), still have a backup (Hart), so I don't even understand why/how the two things would be related.

As an aside, Steph is slated to be paid: $16.4mil, $18.3mil, $20.1mil, $21.9mil over the next four years. Those insane numbers as much as anything else makes him highly unlikely to be anywhere else but NY next year. Guess he finally got his immature and selfish wish to be paid as much as KG.

What about a Brendan Haywood for Darius trade? Perfect to replace Ostertag and get our backup Center.

Sure, I'm not the biggest Haywood fan, but that would be a no brainer IMHO. But I just have a hard time seeing them doing that. With Kwame gone, they are pretty much down to Etan and Haywood as their big men, and they kind of like both. I'm sure they would like to add Darius to that bunch and get a solid depth guy, but to actually swap Haywood for Darius...just wouldn't seem tom make much sense for them. They'd have no true center, lose a lot of size, etc.

Peter Ramos? 7'3"
Jared Jeffries? 6'10"

The can move Jeffries to the C and put Darius as backup PF.
