Sergio Rodriguez for a 2nd?

Rumors that Nate isnt a big fan of his Jwill/Pistol Pete style.....they are high on Petteri Koponen. if he makes the team, bayless, roy, steve blake can all play point.....we know blazers love picks....and i think i remember hearing petrie liked Sergio.

It would take more than that.

Look, Pritchard is a gamer. He's gonna force three future 2nd round picks out of us just to even touch Rodriguez, to add to his collection of "toys" to swing and throw awround during draft day.

In order to get salaries to work I think the only players that would work would be JT or Douby.

Though Sergio would be nice, I don't think trading him for Douby would make the Kings any better. I don't think that Sergio is any better than Beno and I think Singletary can handle the back up point guard position. Douby is fine as a instant O type player and those have some value to teams down the line. If we want to build a solid team I think that holding onto Douby in order to have someone that can drop a couple 3s and make a couple plays to energize an offense is necessary.

I've always liked Sergio, and I wondered how long it would take before someone brought him up, in light of Koponen, being the wonder child of the moment. I personaly think that the Kings are in a holding pattern at the moment as far as the backup pt guard goes.

I think that if Petrie believes that Singletery can grow into a reliable backup point guard, there's no reason to trade for one. Why spend money or talent to aquire a backup pt, if you can get by with a cheap second round pick, that may end up being just as good as the player you would have traded for.

If there was some way to get Sergio, I'd like to see him play for the Kings.

Frankly, I was hoping the Kings would have drafted him back in 2006, but I understand he didn't have the requisite jump shot...doesn't have much of one now either (but that's mainly b/c he played garbage time all last season).

However, when given proper PT, I think he'll have a better FG%, and he may be the best passer on the squad. An after last year's poor assist #'s, we could definitely use the unselfishness...

The problem is, how do we get him? We'll have to do a salary match trade as both teams are over the cap, so a 2nd rounder wouldn't work (unless there is some clause that I'm not aware of). Unfortunately, a QD for Rodriguez does not match...
