Secret to My Sanity

6th

Homer Fan Since 1985
Okay, the Kings need many many things to right their ship. Some of us don't want them to right the ship. We want a whole new ship.

I've been reading a lot here these days without having much to say. Could be that I can't get all that angry because I still remember how bad we really had it a few short years ago.....for many many years.

Maybe I am just depressed because of all the downhill sliding for the past few years and I don't even dare hope it can get better once again.

Maybe I can't get upset because I am too busy praying that things won't get any worse.

I have read all the negativity from pessimists. I have seen all the rah-rah's from the optimists. And, I find that the key to my sanity is to be neither. I am just going to watch and wait. I won't expect too much so that I can enjoy whatever gains are made. I won't demand too much because it is not in my power to change any decisions that the Kings organization makes. And, I sure as hell won't wallow in my own pity about the way things are and how I want them to be different. That just makes me a miserable person and it is not somewhere I choose to go. The only thing I can do is...

Yell...

GO KINGS!!!

WOW!

I officially nominate this as "The Post of TDOS" - 2007 edition.

You may be the only person who has managed to keep their sanity. Thanks for revealing the secret.

I eat marshmallows whilst wearing a foil helmet. Just like Ron, but he won't admit to such. That's what keeps me sane.

GO KINGS!

“I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. 'You don't have to tell me,' I said. 'I'm off the team, aren't I?' 'Well,' said Coach, 'you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times.' It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.”

I think most normal Kings fans are in this same boat. Most Kings fans that do not go to messageboards, that is.

I remember too...

When the Kings arrived in Sac for the 1985-86 season and nobody had much expectation that they'd get that first year playoff birth - yet it happened.

Somehow, it seems almost deja vu with this upcoming season. No one has any real playoff hopes for this Kings team. Reggie Theus who led the Kings back in the day has now come full-circle as the new head coach.

Maybe more miracles are in store as long as the fans (most fans) stay faithful and just when it's needed most, the 6th provides that loud final push that makes it happen when most thought it never could.

From the forest high in the Utah desert, no cell phone, no t.v. and the slowest computer ever--this thread started my "King's Day." I say "Go Kings" and will read no more today. A great way to start the day--thanks 6th! Annie.:) :)
