Say goodbye to Mikki Moore

I'm just wondering why he was waived at this moment. He's almost guaranteed to head to the Celtics... So what did the Celtics do for us to make us just waive him out of nowhere?

I guess they are keeping Thomas because he's a bargaining chip for next year. Moore really wasn't because of that clause to buy him out at 2m.

Ecstatic that Moore is gone. Better for him... better for us. Anyone know where we now stand in terms of the salary cap heading into the off season.

They let Toronto snatch away Patrick O'Bryant?

Danny Ainge better be making us all brownies as we speak.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Seems like there are a couple more news items to happen in the next 30 or so minutes that Amick is going to report on.

I was able to delete Sheldon and Quincy and now Mikki off my signature. Now only 1 more off my signature, and it will be good.

We waived him, as far as I know, so he could be picked up immediately by Boston. You can check the CBA stuff, but I think we're golden as far as his salary is concerned.

So, does anyone know what this means for Moore's salary next year and the following?

Well, if we waived him, I would think that automatically kicks in the "we only owe you $2million next year" provision.

So:
09-10: $2 million

It ends after next year though. Would have been $6 mil if we had kept him, now its only $2 mil.

Hmmm, so it is not full price next season and price the following, but rather just half price next season...

if so, that is good.

The question is: does that $2M count towards the salary cap, or is it not considered salary?

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
finally some excitement from you :p...hopefully you can help bring us back to earth (tomorrow lol)

Exceeded my low expectations and found a nice role for himself in 07/08: dunking and screens. Liked his energy and enthusiasm.

Played pretty awful this year...hope he can help some team out. Otherwise, we paid him some good money, an amount that he was never likely to receive.

Good Luck to you Mikki

Although I'm not ecstatic that he's gone, I think that rainmaker said it best
Better for him... better for us
I liked Mikki from before he arrived in Sac. The hustle, the energy and the enthusiasm from the bench were all pluses that he gave to the team.

However, Mikki never reached the expectations of his contract. He got off to slow starts in the past two seasons but managed to shoot 57% from the field last season and 52% this season. He was a role player and didn't try to do too much, even though everyone wanted moOre out of him. I was consistently disappointed by the amount of rebounds, but I don't feel he's 100% to blame for that.

Good luck Mikki, wherever you end up. Your effort of being able to keep playing and actually getting time later in your career is a statement of your effort and character. Even though people were extremely critical of your time here, I feel that you and the Kings will be in a better situation.

Am I the only one who thinks that waiving him (at least at this point) was not good? Apart from doing him a favor, what does it get us?

As I posted in another thread too, we don't save any money this year, and we still pay him $2M next year. However, we have eliminated the possibility of a team trying to get under the LT and trading us a player with about $6M in salary, and taking back Miki and waiving him for only $2M. Seems like we weren't planning on doing that, which might indicate that we aren't planning to take use our cap to get some nice, cheap pieces.

umm... Bye

I never liked him. It was demoralizing to have a starting PF who was a coin toss any given night to get more points than personal fouls.

Bye

Sooo...if Boston indeed does pick up Mikkie from the waiver wire or whatever and gives him a minimum contract (an eight bajillion year veteran makes about a million and a half, right), does that mean the Kings don't have to pay that much salary? So that he would in fact just cost about 500.000$?

Wow, I can't believe Boston is that high on Mikki Moore. Even his once bearable skillset is rapidly diminishing. His height is a facade because he can't rebound, and his length is a facade because he can't block shots. Yeah he can roll for dunks and imitate good defense for sporadic periods of time, but that's about it.

All that said, Mikki impressed me his first year with us and really overachieved in those in-between seasons with New Jersey and us. So for that, thanks Mikki.

theyre really pushing the pedal to the floor in terms of developing JT and Hawes playing time....

im liking what im seeing here...

and looking at JT damn!! the guy works hard!

Boston can not pick him up off of waviers. They are not under the cap, and I don't think they have a trade exception. Also, they would have to wait for the rest of the league, (minus Lakers and Cavs) since they would get first dibs.

Once he clears waivers, I think it is one week, then Boston can offer him a contract. Who knows if Boston waits for Smith or not tho..

No, I think we are paying him $2 mil regardless. If someone picks him up for the vet minimum, it just helps him from taking as big a hit.
