Given that Slim is a stickler and a pedant to a fault when it comes to postings he responds to and his own writing here, doesn't the above statement qualify for a "thread win"? :)

I hate gd Lakers too but I ain't taking a bullet to prove my point. Unless of course I am guaranteed it is a flesh wound only and Jack Nicholson pays my insurance co-pay and gives me his floor tickets so I can watch LAL as they get swept.

I wonder how Braveheart Slim would be willing to go to stop the Lakers from winning this title and the next. Would he give up some fingers and toes to start with?

By implication you're calling NBA championship for LAL this and next year. I think you just jinxed them (you being the only LAL fan with enough Karma to jinx them in the first place).

Slim won't need to sacrafice ****, as Slim would say.

This year, maybe / maybe not, but they're proving to be right on the cusp even if they lose.

As far as next year goes...you may have had a point if the WC hadn't shriveled up around LA's feet. They're 32-5 with Gasol playing a full game. Add Bynum and the Bench Mob to that and press =. Your injury voodoo doll had better be much stronger than my karmic temptations.

LA actually may have to tread a fine line while still hoping to beat the Spurs in the end and I'm not just saying that to rationalize a loss tonight (if it should happen). A week to 10 days between series is not a good thing, especially w/ Gm1 on the road. LA was wobbly enough for most of Gm1 against SA with only 4 extra days and their worst shooting game against Utah was Gm1 after 5 days. Best case scenario for any of the remaining 4 teams would be to close out their series in 1 less game than it takes their next opp.

FTR, I feel the Spurs will win at home if LA tries to milk every single 24 sec clock in the hopes of limiting turnovers. The strategy naturally worked wonders vs Denver, but it got them beaten in 2 straight at Utah before they went "balls out" in Gm6.

I am sickened. The gd lakers are going to the Finals, and nobody seems to be bothered except for me, piksi and BMiller52.

There wasn't a last second shot, btw. And we're going to pretend that refs actually make last second calls when we know they never do.

Dwight Howard on Chris Bosh. Don't pretend the refs don't swallow their whistles in the final seconds.

The silliness of this is that because it's LA, it'll be conveniently forgotten that Odom got a fake goaltend called on him and that the refs didn't reset the clock for LA in the last 5 secs even though Fisher's shot hit the rim. Shouldn't have even been 93-91.
