Sam Young at #23?

I live in WV so alot of pittsburghs games are on tv and i had a good chance to see him play. I think he would be a steal anywhere outside the lottery. He's freakishly athletic and is a smart player and not to mention his pumpfake haha.

I've already said that I would love Young at 23. He's a very good defender and a good all around scorer. He's definitely a team player and a good character guy. Yes I know he's 24, but unless were not going to be competive for another 10 years, then I think he can fit into our plans.

You know folks, lets do a little reality check here. Whats the longest any player has been on the team? Four years, five years? Unless a player is a star or a superstar, like Webber, the average is probably less than four years. So if we were to draft a player like Young at age 24, and he were to play here for six years he would still only be 30 years old.

Its more a question of developmental potential -- a 24 yr old player is pretty close to his prime/peak already. But in the case of a late first round pick with more roleplayer potential than star potential that's not nearly as big a concern as it is when you are drafting high and hoping a guy will blossom into a major star.
