Salmons to Portland

Salmon for Sergio and Outlaw....Portland gets another scorer while we get an actual small forward who can hit a open three.........

Add douby and i love this trade but I dont know if Portland needs a veteran right now at that spot. Maybe add sheldon as well to spicen up the deal. This is a pretty sweet deal but doubt it will happen because it is a good trade for the kings and that never happens with the Kings.

Hmmm! I wonder why they would want to move Outlaw? Doesn't make sense. Especially for Conley, who I think is overrated. Anyway, I would make this trade. I would be surprised if Portland would.

I didn’t think that the Blazers were interested in trading Sergio away. I would do that trade only if we can switch Outlaw with Bayless (or not..lol). But Sergio is a nice player to have on this team. I just don’t think the Blazers would do it, but who knows what can happen.

I'd probably do it if I were Portland. Remember, Conley and Oden had great chemistry together at Ohio St. (and in HS too maybe?) Portland were rumored to be going after Conley on draft day too

In any case, Portland already has a bevy of good young wing players. Not great ones, but good ones. They have not been taking about old vets, and I do not see whay they would start now. They really only need one thing -- young PG -- and they are ready. Whether the rook can turn out to be that guy its not clear yet. But older vet who will dispalce their young wings and fight with Roy and Aldridge for the ball? That seems like an odd fit.

I shuld have said they need a MAJOR young PG. A high level starter. Not just another platoon or role player.. Its the obvious hole for them right now.

Hmmmm…Maybe they’d want Beno – he’s not the best, but good enough, plus he’s young. Beno for Sergio and Bayless. Hell yeah, lol. I can imagine.

Right now, yes. But they don't need to win "right now". They have a really young and talented team who will be a contender for years to come (assuming they can keep their core together), so they don't have to do anything drastic. Bayless will more than likely fill that role in the years to come.

OT: I really can't get my head around Indiana drafting Bayless and then trading him. They needed a PG for years. Even with the Ford trade, I would think they keep Bayless as Ford's future replacement and as insurance.

Was reluctant to start a new thread for this, as wasn't sure if it has been discussed already, but how about Salmons (plus maybe QD to keep us out of LT), for Bargnani and Moon?

Why Toronto does it

Colangelo always liked Salmons, and tried to sign him earlier too. They aren't getting much from the wing positions, and Salmons has played really well so far. The biggest need for Toronto is to keep Bosh happy, part of which would be to win now, where John can help.

Why we do it

John has played well, but is obviously not part of our future. We get a young big with potential, and an expiring in Moon, who has shown some potential in the past. With Martin and Cisco coming back, we obviously have a logjam at the 2-3 position, particularly if we want to see some minutes for Greene.

Why the trade may not go down

Colangelo drafted Bargnani with the number 1 pick, and doubt will give him away this early (or at least will want more). Also, John has rarely played well, when he is not the man, and in Toronto, he might be the 4th banana (after Bosh, O'Neal and Calderon). Plus, he refused to go to Toronto earlier, and might not sign off on the deal this time too, though I guess the prospect of playing for a good team, and going to the playoffs might change that.

Miami gets its big man. Sac get its expiring. Tor gets its decent, able to slash guard/forward and a backup guard cause i believe douby has to be an improvement over ukik and soloman right?

I think it is not very likely to go down, as you acknowledged here. Maybe as part of a larger deal with more than just Salmons coming their way. They might have been more receptive before this season, but Bargnani is actually playing a lot better this season, and is starting to climb out of bust territory.

both sides bleed in talent in some way... but the good thing for us here is we get that shot at rebuilding truly with miller and salmons gone.
We do this to speed up the young guys growth,

for toronto on the otherhand Miller can play off the bench showcasing his passing abilities when calderon is off the floor or they can play together at some stretches... they get a starter in salmons in the SG spot... playing moon at the SF.. douby can live off threes dished by calderon
well what im trying to say here is that they get a consistent center and an offensive-defensive versatile guard in salmons..
