No question, I think everyone pretty much going into the season knew he had no place as a starting SF anywhere in the L, hell on most teams he would struggle to get 12mins a game as a back up.
Its not Salmons fault hes been put in a position he has no hope of succeeding at in this point in his career, hes just not that good at anything to keep him on the floor and hes not a good fit @SF. The fault lies with the organisation for a). Passing on Barnes and b). not getting a starting level SF which there are plenty of around the L and the biggest fault goes on Smart since hes the one playing him.
I can't understand how 70+ games into the season they have not tried anything different, the production from the SF position has been nothing short of pathetic. Salmons/Outlaw/Johnson combined would not make a decent starting SF let alone with there individual skill sets. Thornton should have been starting SG a long time ago and Reke moving to defend SF's.
Nothing against Salmons its not his fault, nor should he be blamed for i, I'm sure every games Salmons tries his best but his best most the time is not good enough.
The soilder has to do what the general tells him weather hes capable of doing it or not.
Sleepy plays a lot of games like he is just there for the paycheck. He has good shooting nights, but mostly sleep-walks thru games. I agree that a player like Harrison Barnes would have been a great step up.
Salmons plays big minutes on this team because is the most complete basketball player on the team.
We need a small forward. Go get one.
Salmons is not the problem on this team and not a significant reason we lost the game. If you are concerned about why we lost last night's game, look somewhere else.

If other players are having a bad night, the majority on this board have no problem with shouting for his benching. It was clear to almost anyone watching that Salmons was clearly having an abysmal night. Why Smart didn't yank him is just another question in the unending list of questions about why Smart does or doesn't do certain things.

Afraid not. I believe there is pretty good reason for not playing Jimmer. It was a cecent gamble drafting him but that gamble we lost. Unfortunately there is a simmer chance of getting any value back by trading him than with TRob. Tje sppmer tje better/Jimmer plays 40 minutes in a single game he will score 30+ points while Keith Smart watches in horror
We need a good defensive SF.
Al-Faroq Aminu, anyone?

Basically James Johnson 2.0 with better rebounding and won't be able to provide any floor spacing, if anything might be a worse shooter than Johnson hes terrible at shooting.
Yes I understand that but keep in mind jj would have been a very nice fit here if he wasn't about as smart as a box of rocks on the floor and do his worst LeBron James impressions for us.

Pretty good reason..like his defense, which is so much inferior than the rest of the team...Keep drinking the Keith Smart kool aid. He's serving it for about 8 more games. Then he'll be polishing up his resume in hopes of landing a gig with the WNBA or the D-league. Jimmer will actually get a decent opportunity and will continue to improve. Maybe even with the Kings/Sac with new owners in place

But to say that he fits into the team right now more than say IT or Douglas is ... hogwash.
We'll never know as long as "you know who" is coaching team now will we? The truth is he's never had a decent shot since he got to Sactown to be the PG.
Last game Jimmer got a DNP so IT could go 3-16 and Douglas could go 0-3 including a combined 1-8 from 3. Good thing they both played sold defense. Wait, no they didnt'.
Believe it or not I'm not a Jimmer homer. I'm a Kings homer who thinks Jimmer deserves a fair shake. To knock his defense when the "whole team" is allowing a league high in points per game is an insult to intelligent kings fans everywhere. Keith Smart and his moneyball approach to playing players because of their defensive ability is a scam and you all are buying into it. Our defense is bad but everyone wants to talk about how many points we've scored. Check the W/L and a dose of reality. The kings have found two ways to lose games on a consistent basis this year.
No to be honest I really think Jimmer's weakness is on the offensive end of the ball. On defense opposing guards just go right at him, but as you said we're last in defense anyway. But we can't afford to have him be trapped and give up fast break points the other way. He's got good court vision and scoring ability but his handles are terrible. Jimmer can and probably will flourish in a rigid system. I don't think he'll be a star but he should become a very good player. I'm all for giving him a shot next season with a new coach, but in terms of NOW given how our team plays he just isn't a good fit, so I don't really criticize Smart for giving his minutes to Douglas and Thomas.
To be more specific, his ball handling under pressure is the problem. He can shoot, drive, and be productive. It's when he gets pressured and trapped that causes the problems.
Payton was a bust after 3 years. It took Nash a few years too, Connelly took 4 years, Billups over 4 years. Jimmer still has time.
