Sad Times we Live in!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the NBA Finals weekend on ESPN Classic a couple weeks ago, and realized how much I missed the traditional NBA on NBC theme song.

For me that song still sends chills down my spine and still makes me want to go out and pretend to be Michael Jordan or Mike Bibby in my driveway.

It saddens me that today's young NBA fans grow up without knowing the magic that was the NBA on NBC and the theme song that went along with it! It's a crying shame.

I thought Tesh was going to be able to sell it to ABC when they took over. It was a great song, he also did the 84 Olympic song which we now come to think of as "the Olympic song" correct?

I loved that sound. You know he woke up and blurted that into his answering machine with his own voice. Serious. "dat dat dadda da doo dadda doo daaa daa daa"

I thought Tesh was going to be able to sell it to ABC when they took over. It was a great song, he also did the 84 Olympic song which we now come to think of as "the Olympic song" correct?

No that was John Williams...the same guy that did Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Jaws, etc.

He offered it to ABC but they declined, or vice-versa, or something.

I have bad memories of it though, namely the 2002 WCF.

It might have been better if that wasn't the last time I had heard the song.

yeah I miss it too!...but like pdxkf said, its on NBAtv but I still miss it....I'm also a big fan of the Olympic songs too...I know John Williams did the song for the 2004 Olympics...and Trevor Rabin also did a song for the 2004 Olympics..I love all his instrumentals..they're always played in sports movies..Like Remember The Titans, I believe I heard a piece in Coach Carter, and if I'm not mistaken...i think its in Glory Road too..but i'm not sure.i didn't c the movie yet

Yeah, that's right. Funny because that song sounds a lot like a Tesh song and even though I like John Williams all his scores start to sound a like after a while.

I miss the NBA on NBC theme song too!! it brings back memories of when I was about 9 yrs. old watching NBA games..especially Jordan and the Bulls...I wish they could bring it back

Just because it hasn't been mentioned, the name of the tune is "Roundball Rock". If you google it you can get ringtones, probably find an mp3 somewhere and read tons of articles on the musical genius of John Tesh.

I think I've hit my lifetime quota on John Tesh postings.
