Sacramento, Indiana Closing in on Deal?

For what it's worth, rumored Saras is gonna go back to Europe and do a similar thing like Monia did with the contract.

At this point, would rahter not have him. More time for Douby, and/or a slot for a vet. PG.

And ALL the rumors are based on the one piece from draftexpress...and Phillips keeping his client's name out there in the media.

Sarunas just got married. There are LOTS of reports he may want to return to Europe. I simply don't see the benefit in us doing this deal.

Sam Amick saying it would give the Kings "the depth down low they need" doesn't convince me. In fact, quite a bit of what Amick has had to say lately hasn't impressed me whatsoever.

If anything, this looks more like something that resulted from Phillips making a late-night phone call to Amick than the other way around.

So you would rather have a rookie with no real PG experience or a phantom veteran PG that magically joins the team?

Ooh..the Bonzi to Indiana for random spare parts trade! And everyone knows that if you are going to have to pay $8 million dollars anyway you'd rather do it to Jeff Foster and Sarunas Jasikvecius than to Bonzi Wells. Cool -- we are getting good at those. Soon we will have all of the "flexible pieces" in the league and none of the talent. Then we'll rock.

Its nice of us to try to make it up to Indiana for stealing Miller and Artest from them by giving a not so little something back for their garbage this time.

This BTW would add another shooter for Petrie. Oh, and also likely mean that Brad stays because, well, he can shoot too and Foster can grab all those nasty rebound things from his spot just to the left of Muss. Luckily we will still be safe from any of that shotblocking bunk since nobody involved in the trade does it. And as a bonus we get to have the worst pair of defensive PGs in the league! Yahoo!

Oh, and as we "make our grand championship push" here are the playoff numbers for the respective parties:

Out: Bonzi Wells: 41.5min 23.2pts (.609 .625 .651) 12.0reb 1.3ast 0.8stl 0.3blk 3.0TO
In: Jasikvecius: 11.0min 2.8pts (.368 .222 .500) 1.0reb 1.0ast 0.0stl 0.2blk 0.8TO
In: Jeff Foster: 20.0min 2.8pts (.364 .000 .750) 6.0reb 0.8ast 1.0stl 0.3blk 0.0TO
First you say things about how Bonzi will never duplicate those numbers yet you bring them up as if to ultimately justify how this trade sucks for the Kings. I hope Bonzi stays, but the idea is time. This deal would have to START at around 9 million. Meaning it may very well end at around 13-14 million. That is just too much for Bonzi Wells who is a 13 and 6 player.

#1 I want Bonzi back more than anyone, but that is rediculous.

I really hate this deal, for most reasons that Brick has said.
Why trade down for more roleplayers, and give up our starting sg?
We need to up the ante and then dare Bonzi to leave 9 mil or so at the table, dont think he will do it.
We then keep our starting guard, then have 1-2 years to work on a real consolidating trade combining Bonzi with KT or Reef for a big upgrade to the PF starting slot, whereever he may come from. If we loose Bonzi then Kevin will be ready and we can then upgrade our starting five on our terms , when GP can make the big trade. Not when all we get are 1 maybe 2 backup players.

2 thoughts:

1) The team trading away in a sign and trade does't usually get fair value. If Bonzi is restricted or has a year left, no way we trade him for Foster. Considering we may be too far apart, AT LEAST we are getting a big man that has some skill and size.

2) If Saras is part of this deal but goes back to Europe, we clear up a fair amount of room under the luxury tax level to resign Ron in a couple of years. Don't think that is the main goal here but it could be of some benefit.

don't like losing Bonzi but it's not a complete loss.

Good points, sidney.

If it happens, it happens. And the quote Kings113 has as his signature would prove interestingly ironic.

If this deal is just Jeff Foster and Jasikevicius I'm in the Bricklayer camp. That's just not enough for Bonzi, particularly if the aim is just to save a few bucks a few years from now.

Jeff Foster and something else valuable then let's talk.

Would you then prefer Bonzi walks for nothing???

Kings may not have alot of leverage in this matter because Bonzi could just go to Indiana and take the MLE. Why not get something in return??

People have already mentioned this, but I'll say it again.

Bonzi for Foster/Daniels...Then we can talk.

Bonzi/Cisco/pick for Foster/Granger...Then we can talk.

Bonzi for Foster/Saras?...Hang up the phone Geoff.

If we don't get one of their young, good swingmen in the deal I am not going to be happy.

If Geoff really truly gets the sense that Bonzi is going to do that, then yeah, you have to get something in return. I just have a hard time believing Bonzi would leave $10 million on the table.

See my above post. We don't have a whole lot of leverage in who we get and Bonzi could walk for nothing.

I'd rather have a guard in Douby who has quickness, is a better athlete, younger, a versatile scorer, 6'9" wingspan, and a better prospect. Douby can handle the ball, just needs to work on his point skills, which he said he will and is this summer, ditto with adding weight.

Hey, I got a better idea. Why don't we keep Bonzi and trade for Magloire. I know...sounds easier said than done. The only way I'd let Bonzi go is if we can package one of our overpaid contracts along with him. We have too much $$ just sitting on the bench, and we need something in return.

Would you trade Bonzi is throw in Kenny Thomas just to get rid of his lame contract?

I'm all for that. If they would take Thomas and we get Magliore it would be great.

I like KMart, and no doubt he's improving. But has anyone ever questioned his man to man defense. I remember seeing him getting torched on a nightly basis. That along with Bonzi's leadership are the two factors why I would rather have him stay at a reasonable price.

Torched? Kevin Martin has superb lateral quickness and is a good defender considering that young players generally need two to three years to learn to play defense at the NBA level.

I'm very much in favor of bringing Bonzi back, but Kevin is already a better perimeter defender than Wells.

Now, Martin is still easily pushed around by bigger guards who post him up (which is why I would hate to face Bonzi Wells with Kevin as our starting SG) but otherwise his defense is good and will get better.
