Sacramento considers parking surcharge for non-city residents as part of Kings arena

I'm good with that. Not sure how they'd determine who's not from Sacramento the City though.. check ID's?

A little worrisome that they are phoning and asking how people feel about the Kings leaving.

Build it and keep the Kings. If the Kings leave though.. still build it.

I would totally pay the surcharge, with a smile.

This article in particular is very worthy of the "Hide Comments" feature. Some seriously angry and nervous CAVE people...

That's because an arena deal is within reach.

They thought for sure Sheedy would gain enough votes to send this to a public vote.

This is why we have elected officials. Let them represent us, the people, to make those tough decisions. I don't want to leave a vote to someone who is not educated on the issue at hand. It is a wasted vote and serves no purpose.

Hate to say it but there are far too many people who are not educated enough on this arena issue and some who are against it no matter what.

The CAVE people are against any arena deal unless it's in Natomas and 100% privately financed.

I guess they forgot that the CAVE people of the 80s were also against what the CAVE people of now want. Things turned out just fine.

UPDATE:

"A parking surcharge on non-city residents is not, however, part of the city's still-forming financing plan for a $387 million arena, a top city official said Saturday. (An earlier version of this story stated that Sacramento officials were currently considering imposing the fee.)"

I really wish some (CAVE) people would just be patient and see what the term sheets are like first before jumping to conclusions.

That bothered me, too. Why didn't they ask if they minded all arena events leaving for good?

Even if it was 100% private financing, I figure the CAVE folks would find another reason to complain all day about the arena. Where it was located, parking problems, traffic problems, event pricing, too many people downtown, more crime, ugly eyesore, a blight on the city, negative effect on the environment, no good access, etc. Or they move on to some other issue they can be totally negative about. They never stop. Must be hell to be them.

I'd gladly pay the extra few bucks..seems like I'm already paying more just to park than to actually see the show/game ;).

It is interesting to wonder how they'll determine where people are from. I foresee some out-of-towners** letting their Sacramento fans drive. ;) How will they tell the county folks from the city folks? I have lived in the county and my addresses were in "Sacramento, CA."

**Spell check offered the alternative "out-of-downers" Hahahahahaha.
