Sacramento / Charlotte trade idea

Okay, lets do this Tyson Chandler thing:

Sac trades:

Kevin Martin - sg
Kenny Thomas - pf

Charlotte Trades:

Tyson Chandler - C
Alexis Ajinca - C
Gerald Henderson - G

Why for us? We need depth at the C position. Ajinca and Chandler address defense, height, and longevity concerns. Both are 7'0'', Chandler's a defensive beast, and we can give Ajinca spot minutes in place of Sean May.

Gerald Henderson is a 6'5" 215 pound combo guard that is buried on the bench by that youth hater Larry Brown. He's already talented at the offensive end, but needs time and a system like ours to develop.

Why for Bobcats? They get instant prolific offense from Martin. They are ranked #28 in offense, but #1 in defense. Plus they will have Diop, Mohamed (sp?), Thomas, and Diaw to clog the lane in place of Chandler. Thomas and Larry Brown may have had their scrapes in the past, they may love each other now, doesn't matter - K9's contract is an ender. So they really lose nothing and gain everything they could ever want and need: cap space and Martin.

Why we wouldn't: Because we love Martin, and we want some time to see if he will compliment Evans. Also because we want that fat chunk of contract money from K9's ender for ourselves.

Why Bobcats wouldn't: Maybe they over value Chandler, I think Chandler < Martin. But we need more size, and that sort of makes up for the inequity. Also because they are stacked at the wing with Wallace and Jackson. But neither are offensive juggernauts that they can rely on. (Okay, maybe Jackson might be).

What do you all think?

Chandler is damaged goods. That's why the Hornets traded him. The Bobcats don't need Martin when they already have GW and Steve Jax at the wing. I don't see why the Bobcats would give up not one, but two centers and get none back.

.

The reasons lie in your post:

Chandler is damaged goods.

Would you be willing to take a gamble on a tall defensive minded center? Even as a backup? The only reason they part with him is because he's damaged goods.

The Bobcats hardly use Ajinca, and, as you pointed out, Chandler is almost like their damaged albatross. Place yourself in their shoes, why wouldn't you make this move to attain the most underpaid scoring Ferrari in the league, and have him start in front of Crash? They have lots of front court depth. This may dwindle that, but they will have some potential for trade in KT's contract and Wallace.

I very much enjoy this scenario, but When you are trading Martin for Henderson plus cap space in 2011, it seems like a gift. I would rather see a higher return for KM23 than Henderson(who i personally am high on). Plus this deal costs the kings about 5-6 million dollars extra next year, and saves the kings 30 over 4 years. At the same time we defer to 2011 for cap, when it makes more sense to have cap space in 2010....here is why; if we have ample cap, we could trade our cap space for a decent semi-max player like David Lee or even Pau Gasol or Bynum, which might open up space for the lakers to aquire lebron. If Kobe opts out(im not sure if he can) and they trade away one of thier bigs, they would be enough under the cap to sign a max free agent, and then resign Kobe for whatever they agree to. I would look to the lakers after the season is over, for a trade buddi.

Hey! I didn't even take that into consideration, excellent observational skills USNAVY15. I like the idea alot better than I already did now.

I would gamble on a center but not with Martin as the chips. If it's Noc or Beno + KT then sure.

Ajinca is a raw project that takes time to develop and the Bobcats know that. Hardly used does not = given up by the team. The Bobcats has one eye on Ajinca taking over the C spot after Chandler's contract runs out.

GW just won Player of the Week and is the least of the Bobcats' problems. I see no reason whey the Bobcats would want to bench Wallace.

The cats have just won four straight games and are 4-3 since the trade. Things are looking up for them, there is no reason to do a trade that shakes up the starting lineup, loses two centers, and create a logjam at the wing position.

No way.
Martin is more valuable than Chandler. Dude is garbage without Chris Paul setting him up every night. Henderson seems like he could be alright but we definitely don't need another SF. If we're going for a just a big guy that blocks shots, why not make a run at Thabeet? Or maybe Roy Hibbert, who seems to be on the verge.

Not sure what to add here except the combo of KMart + K9 together is the makings of a trade for an allstar... we aren't getting one in return so it's pretty much a no go.. Nice try though they are always fun to try
