Sacbee: Facing big off-season, Petrie sees Kings' potential

Yah.. Really not a lot of money to spend on FAs..

On the OTHER HAND....... We could absorb a LOT of salary if there was a trade.

Just heard Tyreke on the Max and Marcellus show down here in LA. He's down here to promote Black Ops with DWill. They were trying to put him in a corner by insisting that he'd much rather be down here playing in Anaheim. Lol they were really bursting his bubble when it came to his confidence in speaking and the fact that he has a GF. They were giving him so much s***, it was sad and funny at the same time.
Ha. You're right. Just listened to it. At the end Max said "I'd love for you to come on again as soon as you improve your public speaking".

Here's the link if anyone wants to listen. Start it at the 19 min mark.

Common Theme

There's a common theme that I've heard from both Petrie and Joe Maloof: Tyreke and Cousins have got to come into camp in great shape. That's music to my ears... :D

I like AK 47, but it's too much of a risk giving him more than 2 years and more than $8 mil per year. He just turned 30 and his numbers have been declining for a few years now.

Common misconception, but his numbers have been rock steady for years:

07-08: 30.8min 11.0pts (.506 .379 .770) 4.7reb 4.0ast 1.2stl 1.5blk 1.9TO
08-09: 27.3min 11.6pts (.449 .274 .785) 4.8reb 2.6ast 1.2stl 1.2blk 1.8TO
09-10: 29.0min 11.9pts (.506 .292 .744) 4.6reb 2.7ast 1.4stl 1.2blk 1.4TO
10-11: 31.2min 11.7pts (.467 .367 .770) 5.1reb 3.0ast 1.3stl 1.2blk 1.8TO

Even if the team were owned by Bill Gates there would be a good reason not to spend all of the caproom. We have some VERY expensive young player reups coming up in future years. People talk about how low our salary is, but its a bit of an illusion. What we have are young players, not necessarily cheap players, and we are going to have to leave ourselves leeway to be able to handle back to back $10mil+ resignings with Reke and Cousins in a few.

Yes, though that only means you pay attention to the length of the contract. The cost doesn't necessarily lose you flexibility. in fact, quality guys under short contracts make good trade chips. I'm looking at you Sammy/AK.

Interesting. I had him pegged as a better rebounder.

Go back farther. His best year was 04/05.
