Sac Bee ad by Kings Fans

Another quick update.

Despite the bad news from earlier tonight, we're now at $800.

We need to raise another $700.

I will NOT give up. I would rather be told it's over and just move on.

We know what happened with the SF Giants years ago and their almost relocation to FL.

Sure it took someone with deep pockets to keep the Giants in the Bay, but we need to rally together and continue to show our support for our team.

This ad has to speak volumes from us. It has to represent the majority of Sacramento and its region. We need to show this area, the Maloofs, the city council, the NBA, the world, etc. that we will not quit and that the Kings should stay and we will find a way to build an arena.

I don't see Anaheim bursting with joy about the possibility of the Kings moving. I have not heard of any rallies at their city hall.

As the old saying goes, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. That's what we need to send as our message too.
Don't live and die with the content. The mere fact there is an ad speaks volumes.

Mike,

Have you tried hitting up facebook to rally support? It's a very large social network and there are kings enthusiasts that do not go on the forums to speak about the kings. If you have not tried that avenue, you might want to give it a shot. I'd love to help but right now, i'm barely making ends meet.
Yes, I have. I have posted it on Here We Stay, SacDeflated, Save Our Kings and Rise Guys on Facebook as well as SacTown Royalty's web site.

No worries. We just need you to continue to show your support by being positive.

I've already let Mike know I'm in for $100 but has anyone thought of maybe talking to some of the local businesses around Arco/PBP to see if they are willing to help? I'm sure they are more than aware that if the kings leave their business will be directly affected the most.

That is correct and thank you for your support. We're currently sitting at $900 and still need another $600 to close the deal.

The deadline is next Wed. at 12pm. I will be leaving for Philadelphia tomorrow and will be back on Monday. Your idea is definitely something I would do if I was around this weekend but I planned for this trip a few months ago.

Sign me up for $100

Be sure to PM me with all the info when you get all the people

Also, one recommendation for the ad would be to somehow show the enthusiasm between Sacramento and Anaheim people.
If anyone has photos from the rally's and/if there were any sort celebrations after the Kings moved to Sacramento and have that in the ad and next to it have the words Anaheim with a photo of how Anaheim is dominated by Laker fans (for ex: http://darkbeer.smugmug.com/photos/567617208_dhray-M.jpg )

Thank you for your support and I love the idea of using that Disneyland picture with their sign that shows support for the Lakers along with Kobe in the picture.

Some pictures thought of are exactly what you said: the city hall and Feb 28th rally. My brother took some good pictures so we'll see how many we can use in our 1/4 page space.

It looks like we're going to pull this off based on what folks have told me in the amount being pitched in.

We're at $1,000.

Any way non Sactown residents can send money? I think I want to help you guys out on this.
Mike is going to be doing it through paypal, which is the most legitimate way to transfer money online.

Paypal offers currency conversion from over 150 countries.

The only problem is that they may charge a fee, which you would have to call and find out how much the rate is.

I believe he will just do it with PayPal. I am guessing that works in the Philippines but I don't really know if there are across-border issues.
No problemo that I know of. PayPal handles all kinds of currencies and does the conversion to US dollars. I get money from Canada and Japan.

The fee is similar to that of a credit card and for those that don't know, you do NOT need a PayPal account nor sign up for one. You can sign on to PayPal.com and use a credit card and be a guest.

Bottom line, Mike can be paid with a credit card.

In light of today's events (who knows what will happen tomorrow :( ), I think this ad is a must! We need to show the city and the team that the fans still care and hope for our team. Things are getting ugly, but we are still here! Screw the business and the politics!

I can add another $25.

The Maloofs are upset with the city council. He's not mad at us fans. I agree that we really need to do this to show them we want them here and we're the reason why they should stay, not because of the city council.

Count me in for $50.
Awesome. We're now $100 short, based on what folks have told me.

I have not collected any money because I want to be sure this will happen and believe me if everyone who said they will contribute then this will happen.

We have already seen the Sacramento City Council and the Maloofs fight which is leading to a nasty divorce.

Who will be hurt by all this? We do. The fans.

We need to act as the child being hurt in all this or as the marriage counselor that brings them back together.

That's my goal with this ad along with the Here We Stay 2 night on April 11.

Does anyone know how to set up a Pay Pal account?

Or would it be easier for everyone to just call the Bee representative I have negotiated with?
