RUMOR: Sixers pick Favors. Nets Pick Johnson.

Money changing hands somewhere? I can see the Nets taking Johnson, he definitely fits a gaping hole that they have. If they think Courtney Lee is going to be good enough going forward then Wesley Johnson would make sense. I just don't know about passing up on Turner for Johnson when you have the perrenially injured Devin Harris in the backcourt.

The Nets have zero intention of passing on Turner for Johnson. Just not gonna happen. Favors over Turner is unlikely enough.

I don't know. I think if we had the no.2 pick, I might lean towards Favors as well. I like Evan Turner and all, but a big with Favors' upside and makeup is extremely valuable. I can understand Philly possibly taking him instead.

There's no way NJ passes on Turner.

I agree. Considering the presence of Iguodola and the makup of their front line Favors is probly the favorite for Philly.

Then the Nets would take Turner over Johnson. Though maybe, at that point, they would trade down one spot down with Minny if they liked Johnson enough.

If the nets are leaning towards wes, and wall turner go 1 and 2, we better be blowing up their phones on draft day trying to work a trade so that we could land Favors. This only happens if wall and turner go 1 and 2 and this favors over turner rumor surfaced today so turner could still go 2 as most expected.

Taking Johnson over Turner? No way would any sane GM do that, there's simply no reason to, and there are a few major reasons not to.

But all that matters to us is whether the first 4 are Wall, Turner, Favors and Johnson, which may well happen.

I wish I had a clue as to whether Geoff would pick Cousins if he falls to #5, but I'm sure that Geoff will maintain his rep for inscrutability.

There is no question that Turner is a better player than Johnson. But I can sorta see Johnson as the better fit in NJ. The Nets are very high on Terrence Williams and Turner, while a better player than Williams, kind of duplicates Williams' skill.

But I think their greater need is at PF. The Nets probably will pick Favors if he is available, the Johnson pick speculation is likely the assumption that Favors is gone.

If the Nets really like Johnson, maybe they swap picks with the Kings?

They won 12 games. I don't think 'fit' should figure in to this at all. Hell, even if the BPA was a center, they should take him and figure it out later. I really don't see them taking Johnson, especially with Turner on the board.

The other thing is they are one of the teams gambling on being able to add LeBron...somehow. If so, reaching to grab a SF at their pick would seem...odd.

I agree with you, Turner is simply the better player. But at the same time, it's good to keep an open mind about these sort of things. At this point last year no one thought Tyreke Evans would go before Rubio. Two years ago, no one thought Russell Westbrook would go before Brook Lopez and Jerryd Bayless. Do I think Johnson will go before Turner? No. But it wouldn't surprise me if it does happen. Drafts are full of surprises. That's why we follow them.

As long as it works out defensively, I don't see the problem. LeBron is really a guard on offense.

Well, they could also be looking for Bosh or Boozer, which would make Wesley Johnson's readiness attractive. I am not saying the Nets will draft Johnson or even likes him at all, I just simply don't know. I also don't think the Nets (or the Heat, Bulls, etc) is going to draft based on available FAs.

Wes is a gonna be a big top 5 consideration by all teams once the workouts start and he starts shooting the lights out... then pours on the hops...

Outside of him being 22 going on 23 the only other neg you hear on him is handles. The dude has a great attitude, works hard, and is a team player.

If he can tighten up his ball handling there is absolutely nothing stopping him from being the best pick in the draft.

Is there some shady hypnotist out there that we can all chip in to hire and send over to David Kahn's place to get him to believe this?

What about you, D13, you up for the job?
