Rudy Gay trade?

Hey Kings fans..Grizz fan here.

I'm trying to get some information from you guys side. Two weeks ago Bill Simmons said he heard rumblings that Tyreke and Rudy would be dealt for one another. After that I immediately email our beat writer and ask him if he's heard the the same.

He said he wouldn't be surprised since most guys thought Jason Levien would be the new GM. Well, now he's the new CEO of the Grizz. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing lol.

So have you guys heard anything and if so does a Rudy for Evans,Hayes and Outlaw trade make sense?

Thanks..

Bill Simmons isn't the best basketball source, but sure, that sort of thing is a roster balancer for both teams. Its not inconceivable.

Note however that having Jason Levien involved in your organization is not necessarily a go get Tyreke vote. He was Kevin Martin's agent befor ejoining our front office. We dumped Kevin when he couldn't make it work next to Reke. No idea where that left Levein.

I don't think I would be down for a Gay-Evans trade. Gay is a true small forward, and getting a true small forward does make sense for us. But for the money, is he worth it? Gay is owed almost $54M for the next three years, but he's not a very good defender, he's not a great shooter especially from outside (so he won't spread the floor), and for as many complaints that you'll hear around here that Tyreke is a selfish player, I think Gay would be worse. At the very least, right now Tyreke is playing very good defense for us, so I'd be very hesitant to make that kind of a swap.

If we did do it, I don't think we'd want to include Hayes for the simple reason that it would leave us with three legitimate big men on the roster. I figure that if we did it, we'd insist that Salmons went back instead.

But if we're going to go after an established SF, I'd much rather go after Granger. With George ready to step in, I don't think it's inconceivable that Granger could get moved.

I don't want any part of Gay if it means him playing next to a backcourt quartet of IT/MT/Brooks/Jimmer. I could see a scenario where Gay could fit, next to Reke and Cuz, but that requires such a different makeup than we have it isn't even worth talking about.

Is this necessarily a bad thing?

LOL cam, I think some people see the glaring hole we have at SF and assume that the Kings are looking to upgrade; these people obviously don't know how our front office works.

Tyreke for Gay - frankly doesn't sound like something our GM can pull off; now Tyreke for... Marreese Speights! Sounds right up their alley! It'll be a draft day trade where the Kings drop a few spots and also pick up another bad contract. You have to think way outside the box in Sactown.

Right now, MT is the only player on the team that can hit an outside shot. Trade him, and were left with a bunch of outside shooters that can't shoot.

Which is sad, but true. Why the concept of just getting pure shooting specialists doesn't appeal to the FO is beyond me. Who needs a Kyle Korver or Dorell Wright when you've got John Salmons and Travis Outlaw and Garcia, all of whom can hit the outside shots and do more than just shoot! I thought Jimmer would be the solution to our problems, but so far he hasn't been able to do anything else consistently well.
