Rubio, Harden and Blair rumors...

The person i do hope declare is Rubio. If we weren't lucky enough to get the 1st pick, there is still a high probability we'll get the 2nd where Rubio would be.

Can a mod edit this? Rubio, Harden, and Blair are all complete RUMORS still, which the poster apparently missed completely.

Blair has size issues, whether he could defend in the league is what worries me.

Agreed. Or score even. A majority of his points came from simply overpowering college PFs and Cs from what I watched.

He reminds me of Brandon Bass without the range.

Sure, wouldn't we all love him? But his buyout is somewhere in the $3M to $5M range and NBA only allows a team to contribute max of $500k to any Euro buyout. If he went 1 or 2 and he is not getting taken above Griffin, salary and buyout + $500k could be a wash. Any lower than 3 tho' and salary +$500k is not enough.

I think he declares but ends up in 2010 draft instead. Could just be testing the waters so-to-speak to see where is his real value.

It is highly unlikely he falls past the top 3, probably still very unlikely he falls past 2. It's still speculative at the moment whether it will get done or not, but there were reports that his team is open to re-negotiating his buyout, that's what started the whole Rubio in the 09 draft talk again in the first place.

It's also important to note that top lottery picks are guaranteed two years (and most of the time will get four) at a salary scale in the $4M range. Assuming the full four years, for 2009 draftees it comes out to $19.4M at the #1 pick, $17.4M at the #2 pick and $15.6M at the #3 pick.

This total is plenty to cover his buyout, especially if the buyout is renegotiated. Add to that the fact that he's currently getting some horrible peanuts contract (my recollection is that it's well under $200K a year) and it starts to make financial sense for Rubio to come to the NBA now unless for some bizarre reason he doesn't get a top-3 guarantee.

This is great news. At this point, I feel like it is Griffin, Rubio, or bust. I'm hoping Rubio declares for the simple fact we get another shot at a worth while player.

I could care less if Blair declares. I don't want him with our 2nd 1st rounder either

I don't want Blair either, but if he declares it only helps push somebody else that we may want down to the Houston pick, as Blair will likely go in the teens. Therefore, the more people that declare, the better, unless we're greedy and wanted to get a few of them next year
