The Pacers and the Nets have told both Hibbert and Lopez that they will not be offering them extensions and allowing them to be free agents. So what does that mean for the Kings?
Do you

A. Trade for either one
B. Wait it out and hopefully sign one or the other
C. Just screw it up and forget and keep it as is

I personally would trade for Lopez and send Tyreke that way and get a draft pick out of it. That way the Nets look like this next year (maybe)

C-Howard
PF-Humphries
SF-TBA
SG-Tyreke
PG-D.Will

Kings get a draft pick, extend Lopez and have a dominating front court along with 2 1st rounders. The Nets are probably going to want a player like JT in the trade or Hickson and I can tell you, JJ "GONE" and extend JT's contract.

Both guys are restricted free agents, so what their teams have really told them is that they aren't willing to pay them max unless some other team makes that offer and they have to match.

Of the two Hibbert is the better fit with his passing and shotblocking and isn't another needy gunning mouth to feed. But when their agetns come knocking and asking for max money, we can't accomodate either.

Hibbert but he is too expensive for us.

We will need to extend Cousins and Evans soon but in terms of fit, Hibbert is a much better fit. Not great but better than Lopez.

Lopez has been hurt alot that's one reason they aren't extending him. Basically they are telling them to prove their worth of a big contract.

He's only "too expensive" because the Maloofs are broke/cheap and won't go over the cap any longer. Someone needs to remind these guys of one of the basic principles of business...you have to spend money to make money.

With all due respects to Hibbert, whom I happen to like, there is no way he is worth the max deal...which he will get...just like Marc Gasol!

Hence the too expensive claim! We will have a couple of players to max out ourselves soon!

He might now be worth it as an individual but in my opinion it's worth it if a player like him can put your team over the top. Take Bynum for example, he's not really worth what he makes based on numbers but it's worth it for how much better he makes the team. the NBA is a league where you almost have to overpay if you want to be successful.

Do you have multiple personalities? You spent most of the offseason arguing we had done more than enough, were a playoff team, that interior team d wasn't important and that teams shouldn't overpay to sign a big that completes your team.

As much as I appreciate you coming over to the darkside, it's just a reall quick reversal of almost every position you adamantly defended basically 4 weeks ago. I fear the Westphal era may have done significant psychological damage to many of us.

There is a limit. When I said I was glad they didn't overpay Gasol/Chandler/Nene I meant i was glad they didn't give them 16$, 18$, maybe even 20$ million to get them to play here because i think that would be over the limit. I wouldn't want to pay Hibbert that much either. I'd pay him 12$-14$ million though, and I would have paid Gasol/Chandler/Nene that as well, although begrudgingly. Like I said, it's all about the limit and that depends on the player. You have to overspend but you don't want to be so stupid about that you end up with a Rashard Lewis type contract.

EDIT: I also never said anything like "we did everything needed to be a PLAYOFF team" or "interior D isn't important".

Just one as far as I can see and its DMC. Tyreke would command less than Marcus Thornton's deal at this point imo. As far as the Hibbert goes there is no way the pacers let him go just no way. Lopez on the other hand could be had if the right offer is on the table.
