Rondo interview after game last night

It shows you how much the national media is chomping at the bit to get us. In a sense they are much worse than this novice reporter. This guy was clearly naiave, national media clearly isnt but they dont care, anything for those juicy clicks.

That is in no way shape or form clear at all. They are rarely right and quick to judge. Extremely slow to retract or admit error. Id say they are immature and very naive about a lot of things. But that is what sells these days as news....

I can guarantee there will be no retraction.

And really, who cares? Let the media pat themselves on the back for "calling it" that rondo and Karl would clash. Good job.

I'm more concerned that we vastly surpass the 30-32 wins everyone has us winning than the media write nice stories about how everyone gets along.

All I have to say about Rondo can be summed up in one on court play last night. Rondo was at top of key and he directed 3 players to a spot yes 3 players. Then he drives left about two steps kicks to Kosta for an uncontested layup. He drew that play up in his mind on the fly mid possession.

Welcome to Rajon's world...

So of course the knowledgeable and local NY Post picks up on the unhsubstaniated rumor and makes this really dumm headline on their sports section "Rajon Rondo, George Karl off to a predictable bitter start". Sure hope Rondo and others audibly laff in the face of the NY media yet again. It's still preseason and there are many things to work on what with 8 new players likely to stick around and an astronomical quantity of possible combinations on the floor.

Really like team improvement each game especially the Ast/TO ratio.

Unfortunately if this was a joke, its back on us again as it just hit the national headlines, where of course it is going in spin cycle because it fits the narrative, and so will be blown all out of proportion and talked about for days as signs of the imminent return to dumpster firing.

Good.

Ended up having a long twitter conversation with Zach Lowe over why Sacramento distrusts the national media and how they've earned that rep. It's odd that it was him I had debate with, considering that the stuff he writes doesn't wade into the rumor mongering side of things and I don't feel it applies to him. He was bothered simply by the distrust of national media.

People are wise to how narrative driven media is these days. Press shouldn't act surprised when it causes distrust.

I hope the WHOLE LEAGUE thinks the Kings are in disarray and that infighting has eaten away the teamwork and poisoned the locker room. It will taste that much better when the Kings roll into their house and decimate their team. Besides, there is no bigger dumpster fires than the 2 NY NBA teams. I can smell that burning trash heap from here. They want to paint any other team as bad to make their Nuclear Ground Zero Cratered - Salary Cap disaster teams look better. I laugh at them ! The NY media is nothing but a bunch of rumor repeaters.... not a one of them have an original story or idea in their pea brains....

Lol, Rondo taking the gullible for a ride.

Anyone following the team and seeing that a) Karl is giving him arguably more freedom than he's even had aside from maybe a stretch with Boston after proving himself and b) that Karl is allowing him to draw up plays in the huddle knows there was nothing to this.

This however is a concern:

Sean Cunningham ‏@SeanCunningham
George Karl did say he feels his Kings starting lineup could change night to night during season.

That won't work.

That might well concern only the SG position, for what we know... it wouldn't be much of a shock if Beli was going to start some games...

I'd love the trolling with the media...troll away. The media has dug a deep ditch for Sacramento to crawl out of anyway...it can't get any worse than we have seen for the past season or two.

Yeah, I hope that comment was made in jest as well.

Karl isn't opposed to match-up wars, so that doesn't surprise me. You can run the Rondo/Collison against small guard teams like Portland and Phoenix. You may have to go bigger versus Memphis than you do against Indiana. At most, you'll see SG and PF change.

If you're a vet team full of guys who know each other's tendencies very well and the system like the back of their hand, then maybe you could get away with it. For a team like ours with such roster turnover, new system, fairly new coach, mix of vets and youngsters, it makes no sense.

You don't build chemistry and familiarity by changing the starting 5 based on the opponent game by game or week by week. And our team is begging for improved chemistry/familiarity and building a foundation to build on.

It goes so much deeper than just SG's or SFs matching up when the ball goes up. It throws off the rotation, mins allocated, defensive game planning, who's playing with who and by extension spacing/reads. It's just stupid.

I'll go as far to say the only time it makes sense if not due to injuries/intentional rest is in a playoff series when something obviously isn't working and you need to change it up.

forming > storming > norming. Management 101.

Its normal process. As long as they stay the course and continue on to norming we will be ok.

Collison is waiting in the wings if this turns south. Rondo has too much to lose here not to put his best foot forward and work through this.

He didnt, its a novice that was naive and thought he was breaking a story. Also Cowbell Kingdom as I have come to know it is not a fan site that is there to support the organization. I dont like James Ham, but some of his work was important(PDA podcast). Unfotuantely they gave the reigns of that site to fan bloggers.

Thanks for the clarification!

I was pretty disappointed to wake up to all the negative press after Vlade and crew had done such a masterful way of resolving all the past issues/distractions and keeping the team focused on basketball (and the preseason results have me pretty excited for the season!).

As long as the team can stay focused, I promise not to concern myself with what the National press is saying about the team. Go Kings!!!
