Hall of Famer
horrible woss
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On April 8th 2003 Kings beat Sonics @ ARCO to improve to 57-22 for the season. That was the first game after the road trip but with end of the regular season in sight - Kings didn't allow any surprises and won the game easily. Webber lead the Kings with 20/6/7, Pedja had 18/6/1, Bibby had 15/5/3, Off the bench, Bobby had 15/5/5, and Hedo had 11 pts.

After a successful road trip, the Sacramento Kings picked up right where they left off at home.Chris Webber led five players in double figures with 20 points as the Kings pulled away in the second half for their fifth
straight win, a 107-85 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics. Playing their first game at ARCO Arena in nearly two weeks and coming off a 5-1 road trip, the Kings posted their fifth consecutive home win and improved to a league-leading 33-6 at home.

"This is a game you always have to worry about because you don't know how the players are going to get into it," Sacramento coach Rick Adelman said. "They played well tonight. We only had one day between the trip and the game and it's hard to get into. We came in mentally prepared."

"This team understands what we have in front of us," Sacramento guard Doug Christie said. "We want to go out there every night and put forth a crazy effort. We just want to go out there and play hard until we get subbed out. I think that's how we did it the remainder of the road trip and tonight, I just tried to get a hand up on Ray's (Allen) shots tonight."

"Sacramento played liked they were on a mission," Supersonics coach Nate McMillan said. "We never had any control over this game. They set the tone from the start and never lost control of this game and had full control for 48 minutes."

---------------------------------------------------------------
After picking up an unexpected and unnecessary woss, Kings are 31-44 for the season which is the 8th worst in the NBA. As for the "post season hopes" - we are finally running out of possibilities which means that if Clippers win tonight - we are officially done. With 7 games left Kings have 2 priorities. Playing the kids and trying to improve their draft position should be fairly doable at the same time. We have nothing else to play for.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last night while still in shock because of the horrendous woss that we suffered - I was asking myself - does this franchise really deserve to have better future considering that it seems - they can't do anything right. When You get all the breaks and then You don't help Yourself - do You really deserve anything ? Last year if I remember correctly, we had 19 pts lead against the Suns in the 4th quarter and we gave it away. Because of that we faced Spurs in the first round instead of Suns. This year it is totally the opposite. All our lottery competition win games and instead of catching up - we pick up a woss and everything is back to square 1. With 30 wosses - we would have been tied for the 5th lottery spot. With 31 - we are 8th. Sometimes You just have to "force' or "earn" some luck especially if You aren't lucky to begin with.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whatever option You have been supporting - we are at the point where our season is over. There will be no playoffs for the Kings this season and as much as it hurts - we just don't deserve it. We have nothing to play for except for the fact that we have some young talent and that we have a real chance to get a good draft pick. Sure - draft pick might not change anything considering there is always a Previs Ellison hidden in one of the prospects but it is a start and it gives hope and HOPE is what we really need these days.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have You consider the worst case scenario ? It would go something like this: A mediocre draft pick + same veteran core (most of them untradable) or new flexible pieces acquired from bad deal that we were "forced to make + same coach = even worse season with less hope and it is hard to get out of that vicious circle. Just ask Yourself this - Can You stand another season like this and can this franchise afford another one ? I don't have the answers - just opinions
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
During this whole season I have been going between "big picture" vs. "small picture" depending on how Kings were doing. It wasn't easy because every time-You get Your hopes up - there is a setback and then another one and so on. Things have changed. The "small picture" is gone. Every win means a loss now - literally. It is hard to root for the team that You love to lose and it surely isn't natural but this isn't rocket science anymore, it isn't complicated or difficult. If You want Your team to get better, to improve, to get some help, to be exciting, competitive etc... - You have to want it to lose the last 7 games and that includes the Lakers game. Most of You know how hard this is to accept but this isn't about us vs. them anymore. It is just about us and it is hard but it is so desperately necessary.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Veterans - best indicator of what kind of team You have or don't have. Right now most of them have quit on a coach and the team and they just run around on the floor like bunch of chicken. For them - it is all about booking the right vacation and staying healthy so the can enjoy the summer. For a fan that stays up late at night to watch them - it is at least aggravating. No effort, desire, commitment - nothing. I am tired of this. They are responsible for 31-44 - not us. They sucked and failed if the goal was to get into the playoffs. They got themselves into this situation. Show some pride here!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
This gets me to the only real bright spot that we can hang on right now. Kevin, Ronnie, Cisco and Justin want to play, they are dying to play. It shows on the court. They are trying as hard as they can. They aren't playing for post season or to increase their trade value. They are playing for the right to stay under the NBA sun. They want the chance to succeed. It is refreshing to watch and their efforts from last night got lost under the disappointment of winning the game by a large part of the fans. It is unfortunate and they deserve better because with every spent second on the floor - they earn their "right" to wear this uniform. They "eat" what they "kill." It should have happened lot sooner but that is a whole another story
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Loyalty - interesting concept in professional sports. This is business and the loyalty has limits on both sides of spectrum. A team will trade a player or the player will opt out or sign somewhere else or what not.As a fan You have to loyalty to the team or to the favorite player. Nothing wrong with either one. Since this is business first it is about "what have You done for me lately? Support isn't required or granted - it is earned over and over again by performing here in now- not in the past. we have seen Webber, Vlade, Pedja and co leave and we will see others leave too. We will always have issues about support ad loyalty etc... So far we have manged to keep it "Kings first" for them most part. That is where loyalty needs to be.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach's corner has run out of sponsors because even Steve Wonder isn't blind enough for it. Muss did everything wrong again which resulted in a woss but then again - his goal is to compete for the championship. It took him only 74 games to start developing young talent and as our luck goes - it paid off the first time at the worst possible moment.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
What can You say - Kings woss the game that was great to watch right until the moment that Jazz faded also due to injuries. We absolutely didn't need it. Ronnie, Kevin, Justin and Cisco with some help of certain veterans made a big comeback a You certainly can't blame and have to aplaud them for the desire and effort. It just shouldn't have gone all the way. We certainly played a great 2nd half.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

Giricek yet again won the TDM award but unfortunately choked at the end.

Fisher won the LW-VC award by default

JH-KT award went to Mike Bibby mostly because Brad only played 5 minutes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockets are next and Yao and TMac have back problems. We desperately need a lin but if those 2 don't play - it will be hard. What we definitely need to see is more PT for the kids at all costs. Hard to predict anything for Sunday night mostly because we don't have a clue what lineups will look like. I hope for another good performance by the youngsters and a lin.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cisco - doing well lately
Justin - finally alive body in the middle
Kevin - almost over kid
Ronnie - good stuff
--------------------------------------------------------------------
rest - mateen
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - kool aid flavor of the night - roach spray
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockets have made the post season and they will play Jazz in the first round. They have injuries at the worst possible time for us. If Yao and TMac play thing will look differently. Other than that just 3 bad teams playing. TDM award will go to Head. Rest is reserved for Kings. We need a lin here!

The kings FO may not deserve future success, but I think the fans deserve it and the basketball gods should freaking give it to us.

Sonics won and Knicks won too

And Portland lost. We were tied 8/9/10 with NY and Portland, so now we are alone in 9th.

I want to see a lot of Yao in TMac in this game. Lots of Douby too, and what's going on with Potapenko? He brought us all the Ukranian votes for the all-star game, it's time we paid that boy back with some PT!

My dream line up for this game:

PG: Price
SG: Douby
SF: Garcia
PF: Williams
C: Pota!!!

Guaranteed lin!

Spot on, piksi... and RIGHT ON!!!

The kids got Arco rockin' big time last night and it was a tribute to their heart and hustle. The fans will support rebuilding; they just need to see some effort by the guys wearing the uniforms. And right now, it's the younger players who are lighting it up.

I thank Geoff Petrie for bringing Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia, Ronnie Price and Justin Williams into the Kings fold. I think I know better now what intangible trait he looks for that they all have in common...it's heart and 100% commitment. And John Salmons has it, too.

They're not perfect; they make mistakes at times and have areas they need to work on, but they have a desire to compete that really shines.

Clippers choked which means that we are still on "life support" . Hawks play Sixers tonight - one of them has to win. We need a lin tonight.

Are you sure McGrady isn't going to play? I understood it to be a "game-time" decision.

T-Mac had a stiff back a couple of games ago. He probably could play but the Rockets are extremely cautious with his back. When even the slightest thing happens, they sit him for precautionary reasons. It just isn't worth risking him playing because back spasms become a big risk.

As for Yao, same approach for him. We probably could still get home court (and should have since the Jazz have been sucking like mad lately) but the staff is more worried about health over an extra home game. Can't fault them for that logic, considering everyone on our team gets injured.

Either way, you'll be looking at our scrub team. If the Kings want to win, just make sure rafer alston keeps shooting. That's a guaranteed 3-18 shooting night right there.

Muss will still double team Yao and put Ron on TMac. If those aren't playing - 3 other guys will be open

I'm listening on the Radio and they said Yao is out warming up on the floor right now. Of course, even if it's mostly the elder Mutumbo he's no fun for B. Miller either.

God help me, piksi - I thought almost exactly the same thing.

:o

Hopefully the kids will play and keep the game interesting and the crowd animated and the Yao-Tracy combo will prove just a little too much for the Kings to counteract.

This is going to be interesting I think. Rockets have lost 3 in a row all of their home floor w/o Yao and T-Mac (for 2 of those games) plus 2 of the last 3 Kings/Rockets match ups went to OT with the Kings losing both. Signing off til' after the game I guess... GO KINGS!

If I never have to root for my team to loose - it will be soon enough but right now considering the circumstances - it is the right thing to do

Bobcats won and it looks like Hawks will win too. Everyone is playing for us. Now it is our turn.

Why is Brad Miller still playing on his bad foot ?

Would you rather have youth and energy out there?

So much for interesting.

No Corliss. Limited minutes for Bibby. Limited minutes for Brad. I strongly suspect we'll see the kids early and a lin for the record books.
