Miami sstarted taking Shaq off the floor on defense and subbing in Mourning because of Shaq's poor defense playing screen and roll.

And that's when he doesn't flat out refuse to defend p/r.

Sorry, but I do NOT agree. I think Steve Nash is well deserving as the "most valuable player"...in fact, I think he might be the stereotypical selection for MVP, since his team with him was clearly able to play at a much higher level than they were without him.

Most valuable player... player with the most value ...

Value = worth

worth = the quality or combination of qualities that makes one deserve esteem

esteem = high regard or respect

...

You may not like Steve Nash, but you should respect what he has done for his team.

respect = esteem = worth = value = MVP

I thought Dirk should have won it, but I am a Mavs fan. 58 wins without getting anything for Nash, a 7 game improvement, two coaches, mutliple injuries, the only thing that was constant was the 26 ppg and 10 rpg that Dirk gave us. But when you are 4th in the NBA in wins, that is not enough.

So, props to Nash, at least Shaq didn't win it. That guy took games off, how can you give a guy like that the MVP?

Its not "best player in the league", not the BPL. Its the MVP. There is a difference. Guy who made the biggest difference. Nash's impact ont hat team went far beyond his own numbers and talents. He was the straw that made it all happen. And it happened in spades for them.

Jason Kidd would have done the exact same thing. You can replace a Nash, not a Duncan or Shaq or KG. And MVP does pretty much mean "highest impact", and Duncan, Shaq and KG have quite the impacts.

Probably a fair statement with regard to Jason Kidd, considering he did that with the Nets a couple of years ago. Problem was that Duncan had one of his outstanding years a couple of years ago, and the Spurs had the best record in the league.

This year, the stars simply aligned to allow Nash to win the MVP. He joined a team that didn't make the playoffs last year and helped lead them to the best record in the league this year. He averaged more assists per game than any player in the last ten years. On top of that, Shaq had one of his worst years in his career from a numbers standpoint, Duncan missed 15 to 20 games, KG's team didn't even make the playoffs, AI's team scraped its way into the playoffs, and Dirk's team didn't win its own division. That's an MVP gift-wrapped for Mr. Steve Nash right there.

Nash made the TEAM better and he made the players around him alot better. If you are talking about one position then yes Shaq is the MVP but this is a team game and Nash effect on his team far outweighs what Shaq did with the Heat. Nash made the team better by making everyone else better. Shaq made the team better by playing better. Shaq did not make his teamates better like Nash did.
