Report: Maloofs will file for relcation on Monday IF owners are receptive today

Its going to be SOOO awkward if the BOG says no.....how are the Maloofs going be treated in Sacramento? Still no Arena will we have to do this again in a year?
Exactly. Many unknowns. There will still be a chance that the team continues to be bad but improving and the Sacramento economy will NOT improve all contributing to lousy attendance. Now that the Kings are still in Sac and the fans have been saved will the fans sell it out each and every night?? What I'm trying to say is, OK, Sac got its team back... but now what??? A new arena? Maloofs sell? A buyer takes the team? So many unknowns.

If the Anaheim deal falls through and the kings finally are able to build an arena in Sacramento, I will fly up from LA for the home opener(in whatever year it gets built ;))
If this happens, we need to have a championship style parade up Capitol Mall...it would be a HUGE step in the maturation as a city if the Kings stay and we get a shiny new arena/entertainment complex!

No, only Mark Cuban and Paul Allen voted against the move. It was 28-2. Allen most likely voted against it because of his Microsoft buddy Steve Ballmer. Ballmer was leading a group to propose a huge renovation to Key Arena.
Why are you saying no then agreeing with me? I said the Mavs and Portland voted against the sonics move, I didnt say the other 3 did. You are just being an *** to be an *** for some reason.

No offense, but they way you worded it makes it sound like all 5 voted against the move. Maybe take the time to type out everything and make sure you are clear on what you are saying next time? I read it the same way Peter did.

Yes the lousy economy is part of the attendance issues. But the status of the potential move the past few years has been a bigger factor. If their was a commitment to stay via arena or new leasing that they wont move then many fans would return.

Coporate sponsors that the Chamber of Commerece has been working on. Getting commitments from businesses to buy suites and season tickets etc..
This was desribed as "soft" committments from business men. There is a lot of interest which is all well and good but there is no solid big time money.

What Warhawk said. Reread what you wrote yourself.
Not only that, this isn't solely about the vote. I DO believe that if it comes down to an actual vote on relocation the request will be granted by a sizeable majority with no more than a handful of teams (LAL, LAC, maybe GS and a couple others) voting against it.
Lakers/Clippers/GS plus Mavs and Portland voted against the Sonics move. Now add in that NJ is already looking to move a team in after the Nets leave you maybe able to add NY and NJ. That's 7 right there before you even get into the finances.
Take it in full context. funkykingston was referring to LAL,LAC and GS bring against the move. I added plus Mavs and Portland voted against the sonics move. What part of plus is confusing?

Other people read it the same way as I did. What you are thinking in your own mind didn't translate clearly into what you wrote. Warhawk already told you from a third person point of view. What you wrote leads others to read it the way I did as well. No one was picking on you.

Like Seattle was a slam dunk? Key Arena > Arco, Sonics fans = Sac fans. That place got loud too. THere is no way the Maloofs don't get the votes to move. We're all hoping the fees related to moving are so high, the Maloofs have to sell. That's the only hope.
Seattle is not Sacramento. Situations are much different. Seattle said flat out "No, we will not build a new arena with public money, period, end of story". Sacramento has actively been trying to get something done even if they keep stumbling over themselves.

OKC was a new market that showed itself to be hungry for the NBA. SoCal is already served by two teams and the reaction ranges from "meh" to "Cool, cheap Lakers tickets" to a handful of Kings fans who are like "Awesome" and trying to convince themselves that all the casual fans in Anaheim will jump on board even if the Lakers are still the better team.

Seattle/OKC had new NBA approved management and the move was already whispered prior to the sale. The Maloofs appear to be broke and putting non-NBA interests ahead of the basketball ones. Maybe that's not true, it sure appears that way. That is not something that will be smiled upon. You can get kicked out of the good ole boys club at any time.

Seattle sued and tangled up the move, delayed it a year and forced all kinds of concessions out of the team including forcing them to change their name. Sacramento has made it clear they are willing to play that card and if the Maloofs are really just trying to get some quick cash out of this they may find moving winds up costing them a whole hell of a lot more.

OKC was a better arena deal. Anaheim will be a tenancy in an arena that will still probably rank in the bottom 25% of the league.

They even passed a law that prohibitted it.

Yep, I figured I'd not bring that up since inevitably someone would say that Q&R proved the voters were against a Sacramento arena instead of the possibility that they didn't like the specifics or uncertainty surrounding the deal while ignoring the symbolism behind KJ's election. They probably would have gotten away with it too had team ownership not changed hands.

Yeah. Their owner is from Seattle though, so it's no surprise.
Actually it is, because his firm Vulcan, which manages the Trailblazers is based in Seattle and also owns and manages the Seahawks and Sounders. I have actually thought he might consider moving the Blazers to Seattle in the future.

You copy and paste well, but you're a poor writer. Don't trip over it so much. And definitely tone down the hostility. We're all seeking the same thing on this board right now.
