Very unique entity.

Skinner's the same size as Webb. He's a PF. And certinaly would have been back when we mattered. Size matters. Always has in the NBA. Even Wallace was teamed with a 6'11" PF and 6'10" SF to make it work.

Historically you are correct. However, I'm not sure there has ever been a time with less dominating Centers/PF's than right NOW. So, let's shift the pardigm and exploit it!!

During summer league Kevin brought the ball up many times and was a very good dribbler and passer. Price did it most when he was in but Kevin was in more. To me that is an interesting 3rd PG option.

So we have two very good arguments, a 3rd PG and a 3rd big guy. But we haven't seen Luke block shots or even show he can.

In years past we seemed to always have a 3rd PG but our second PG was Bobby and he was really just an emotional jolt and a pint size PF or as Jerry Reynolds said many times, "Bobby is just the smallest power forward in the league." So if Kevin becomes a 3rd option for PG, maybe 5-8 min a game, might not be a bad way to go and he'd get more minutes. That would open up option for a big/bigger guy.

Well if we were too use a 3rd PG already on the team I'm sure they would use Garcia.. He brought the ball up and played alot of point for Louisville, He's got the Doug Christie qualities when it comes to passing, dribbling & court sense. Not saying Kevin dosen't but I think Garcia's point guard skills are a little more fine tuned.

Centers, yes. But actually probably more dominating PFs right now than there have ever been. They kind of are the new centers. And again, its no surprise that even the best of the dominating PFs are also some of the biggest -- 7'0" Duncan, 7'1" Garnett, 7'0" Dirk, 6'11" O'Neal etc. Size matters in any contact sport, but with the geometry of basketball it is absolutely vital.

my hope is that the maloofs will open up the pocket books a little (i.e. rookie minimum salary of $370K) and keep both Luke and Price for the Developmental league... otherwise, it will be Price, because he has a guarenteed contract...

BUT I HOPE THE MALOOFS WILL OPEN UP THEIR WALLETS JUST A CRACK AND KEEP LUKE, THE 7 FOOTER ON THE Developmental League... 7 footers with a hook shot and passing skills don't grow on trees.... who knows, maybe he can develop into someone like chris kaman or joel prysbilla of portland...

he may be soft enough with no inside ability to overcome his height.

Actually does have inside ability according to his scouting reports by Kings.com and HoopsHype.com. Hasn't got much pt to show anything though. Denver had him in their camp, but they're overloaded with bigs who already get all the minutes (Camby/Martin/Nene/Elson).

If Sampson is 12, then 13 would logically be a PG. Not much has changed there. Only problem is that both of our candidates for that position have looked like crap in their only preseason action thus far. Would I trust either Ronnie Price or Luis Flores to run our team in a regular season game at the moment? Not on your life. And if that's true, why keep them? So even if #13 is a PG, if Price or Flores does not impress here in the next few games I don't think its out of the question for us to look outside of campn for that guy.

I'm not out on Price yet, but I agree there are plenty of talented PGs out there available (Omar Cook/Vonteego Commings/Tito Maddox/Mike Wilks/Eddie Gill/Will Conroy/Donnell Taylor) probably the best area of depth.

I choose Sandrin, though Price has more chances. I'm just curious about Sandrin's surviving. As we know, we have a lot of forwards - Garcia, Williamson, SAR, KT, (sometimes Miller, Skinner), etc. And many forwards of invitees-Langhi, Ferguson, and finally Daniels- are already cut for that reason-We have many forwards-.

However, Sandrin still survives. It's very odd to me. He has some talent, but is not so young(born in 1978). That means, I think, the team will not expect that he can step up dramatically and will not let him go to NBDL.

Then, they'll play Sandrin within roster? Surely it will not happen, cause that position is already filled up.

So it's very strange to me. Why RA did not cut him yet? Even after cutting every invitee forward except him? Does he have someting special? Can he play as a special role player-for example, a defender for athletic SF in the league such as Richard Jefferson? I DON'T know at all.

I guess, Sandrin is located between Garcia and KT. I mean, Sandrin has more muscle and athleticism than Garcia, and quicker than KT, and quite tall for SF, but it's not good enough to get in the roster. So it's very interesting.

Shortly, I choose Sandrin, cause he still survive even after his competitors were cut. Even we have plenty of forwards.

Maybe he'll be cut within few days. But, who knows? :)

just curious when do we actually get to see Sampson play. we are all asuming he is 12th because of a contract but where is the preseason PT.

I just have a funny feeling about Sandrin. He'd be much more athletic at the 3 than Peja, KT, or Corliss. Maybe even more than Garcia. A little old for the DL. He reminds me of a 6'9" Mo Evans. I doubt he'll make it, but ?????

I'm just not impressed with Price, maybe because lack of court time, but what I have seen of him doesnt impress me at all...maybe with Hart not playing the next game or so and him getting more time, that will help him out. He has a good shot, but not sure if he is ready for the NBA yet...and even though its the 13th slot on a deep team, you can never tell when you might need your 3rd PG...If Hart has to start at any point during the season due to a Bibby injury(lets pray that never happens), Price would back him up with decent minutes...and I'm just not convinced that he would be the answer we need...if that situation ever came up, I would feel better if we just brought in a journeyman for that job.

I like Luke. The season he played in the NCAA final I really liked what he did. He has a decent outside shot, nice hook shot and can block and rebound. He is 7'1, 7'2. Why would we want Sampson with so many undersized forwards and centers on the team?

Sampson's 6'11" and mobile -- not really undersized, and can rebound and block shots. If he was 6'9", sure. But he's big enough so that its really just more a question of which one of those two guys can play, rather than pure size.

why vote on price vs. flores for the 3rd PG spot, when you can have a PG by committee in martin, garcia, and bibby/hart? i just think that price and flores are DL material for now, and if sandrin is athletic enough to be a stopper at the 3 (vs. a slower corliss and a weaker garcia) why not keep him on for that role?

don't know how napoleon dynamite's gonna pan out.

Nothing against Sandrin, but we've just got so many guys who can play SF that keeping another one, at one of the easiest positions to fill, just doesn't seem to make much sense while there are potential holes elsewhere. Not that I have been impressed with either Price or Flores (or any of the campers we have seen so far), but let's just say that Hart had broken his hip, rather than strained it. Out for 3 months. Would you really trust Cisco to be the full time every night backup PG at this point? Always nice to have a third one of those guys around just in case. And hence the assumption that Price/Flores will get the nod despite my doubts about their ability at this point. Meanwhile at SF we have at least 6 guys who can play it some, maybe 7 if you count Martin. That's at least half the roster -- Peja, Bonzi, SAR, Thomas, Garcia, Corliss + maybe Martin. We would have to have a helluva string of injuries, even for us, for Sandrin to ever get called into a game.

It would make things easier if there was no artificial limit from on high imposed on the number of guys we were going to keep. If they just said we're going to keep as many guys who really show something.

BTW, any 13th guy kept may well go to the NBDL anyway. Don't see why not really. Rather have them playing down there than just sitting around at home waiting for a call.

yeah, i guess i forgot about SAR and KT potentially filling in there. i'm not impressed with flores or price at this point either, so maybe as suggested earlier and go for that journeyman.

I'm still not out on Price yet, impossible to be off on Flores. But I agree there are plenty of solid PGs out there who can do the job. Deepest area of position.

Not like they've had much time to show anything. Which was pointed out as evident in the article about this weekend's back-up point oppurtunity.

I don't understand....

Ronnie Price has signed a contract already, so the debate is, shall we waive Price and bring and sing Flores? Or Keep Price and dump Flores.

Rumor has it that Sampson has been SO impressive in practice that they're keeping him back as a secret weapon to be unveiled at the optimum point in time...

Oh, okay. The rumor was from one of the minions, but you know how squirrels are. They hear things from other squirrels...

Debate? What debate?

Unless I fell asleep and missed something entirely, Flores has NOT done anything impressive so far this pre-season. There's a reason he's only garnered 5% of the vote in this poll...

Sandrin is dark horse

Watch out dudes. Now the Bee has chimed in that Sandrin could be a dark horse for the last slot. My vote went to him. House has the weekend to impress or he could be gone. Same for Flores. Luke is prime candidate for NBADL, don't ya think? ;)

After this weekend if Price shows something, he and Luke could be on the NBADL team in Albuquerque. Don't think we see Flores much.

BIG question mark is Sandrin tho'

I hope they keep some of them around long enough for me to actually see them play. When is the deadline for cutting the roster? Hopefully after the Lakers game.
