Reina's new diet

Why do they call them wisdom teeth? Does that mean I loose some of the wisdom-albeit very little-that I do have? As you can guess I made a visit to the dentist today. No hot/harsh/raw foods...for a while. I'm running out of ideas in planning my meals for the next couple of days. Any ideas?

I've had rice and Oatmeal already, stocked up on yogurt, but the "no hot" food is really raining on my parade and my usual "my mouth hurts and I can't really chew" diet....

I just had my wisdom teeth removed at age 57! I would consider doing it again just to get my weight down to 220 pounds.

Not really.

It sucks. I'll tell you what dentist procedure is even worse. Having your teeth scraped below the gum line. It has to be done under the supervision of an oral surgeon. That procedure convinced me to floss my teeth. Scraping is worse than tooth removals.

Low-fat, fruit-bottomed, cups of yogurt will sustain life until you recover enough to return to cashews, Italian sausages, and beef jerky.

smoothies!!!!

just make them with a lot of juice, and eat them with a spoon.

i'm supposed to get mine out, hell i was supposed to about a year ago, and i remember the dentist guy telling me that i could have smoothies, but i had to eat them with a spoon.

slushies, smoothies, corn meal mush ( SO GOOD) cream of wheat, yah thats all i got. good luck.

Yummy, yummy applesauce!!

And puddin'.

Good luck with the teefs, by the way. I've been avoiding having mine removed (two of them are impacted) for a few years now.

same here. i think all 4 of mine are impacted, this should be fun whenever i get them pulled out :D maybe next year ;)

I sympathize. When I was 20 I had four impacted wisdom teeth removed! After they had started pushing my lower teeth together, causing a little bit of crookedness. It was a long while ago, but I remember drinking a lot of milkshakes and eating pudding. And I don’t know if anyone has already warned you, but your lower face swells up a lot.

I am supposed to get all 4 removed....but I'm a whimp. I got one, the lower left (impacted) removed yesterday and then we'll see how things are in Feb. when I next go back to the dentist. There, thankfully ::knock on wood:: hasn't been too much swelling. I remember one of my sisters got 3 removed at once and she had swelling, bruising and then developed dry socket.

So, I'm just trying to follow all the directions given to me and hope for the best. The pain hasn't been an issue, better yet I've tried to not make it an issue; that codeine stuff is really strong and makes me really drowsy.

Thanks everyone for all the ideas! :D

I got mine removed when I was about 19 or 20. None were impacted and they were all pulled so it wasn't that big of a deal. I even went out that night with my buddies :p .

I had mine removed when I was 18. The bottom teeth were impacted and had removed. I was a little swollen but I never developed dry sockets. I was pretty lucky. I had rice, oatmeal and jello.

I was going to offer you sympathy but I decided to tell you a story instead. :)

I was stupid and waited too long to have mine out (had heard all these horror stories that turned out to be vastly exaggerated, kinda like root canals which weren't that bad either), and didn't get it done until I was 27. So go in, do the tooth cracking thing (oral surgeon actually -- this was soon after I broke my jaw + I knew the people at Un. of Penn Oral/Max Surgery dep). So we do the surgery thing, and a friend of mine who rather prided herself on her utter lack of compassion let down her guard + walked with me back home, and was enitirely into baby me mode -- she was all prepared to cook me a special meal, was going to rent some movies...total nurturing. That was until about 10 minutes out of the hospital (lived just on the other side of the river in Center City at the time) I mumbled that you know, the pain wasn't really that bad, and popped out the bloody pads from my mouth. And sure enough, the bleeding had stopped and wasn't much more than an annoyance really. Of course now my friend was totally grossed out and seemed more than a little annoyed that I was not on death's door. Think she was just mad because she had shown her compassionate side for no reason. :) In any case, there was no special meal, no movies, and she more or less stormed off saying I was doing just fine on my own. Story of my life. :D

I cant believe i missed this thread

I for some reason just had my left side done and a year later still haven't done the right. And I've heard those stories.. some even leading to death.

Two words Reina. Jamba Juice. Grow to love them. Even start calling the employees by their first names. Before you can eat real food again you will feel very close to your local Jamba Juice employees. It might be hard to break the ties. You may find yourself going back just for old times sake.

I had one of my wisdom tooth removed three years ago and luckily for me there was no pain whatsoever afterward. I had a big meal after a few hours. :D

I guess everyone is different...
