Real Positives So Far

It seems like there have been several instances lately of Kings fans trying to convince us that certain aspects of the team are positives and are things to be happy about (like improved defense and rebounding). I won't say that they are wrong, everybody is entitled to their opinion, but I just don't happen to share those opinions of this team.

So, I figured I'd start a thread to look at some of what I consider to be real positives as we're here halfway through the offseason.
  1. The Kings have five very talented, borderline or near all-stars manning the starting five positions. This is great because it means the starting lineup is very flexible, and on offense should be able to withstand injuries pretty well. In addition, with five scorers in the starting unit, the Kings could trade one or two of them for help in other areas and they'd still be potent offensively. This bodes well for the future of the team, they have enough talent that they could lose some to get just the right player(s) and become elite again.

  2. This team is going to be exciting to watch. They will have the ability to beat any team on any given night, and they will light it up non-stop throughout the season. Maybe not 122.4 points per game, but exciting nonetheless.

  3. The West has only one juggernaut and a few teams that are a single step ahead of the Kings on the path to greatness. It won't take much for this team to be thrust right into the thick of things. This will be great come playoff time, since every game will be even more exciting with visions of how far the team can go.
Anyway, those are just a few things that I'm looking forward to as the Kings stand right now. I'm excited and looking forward to the start of the season.

I'm opptomistic because GP has been able to maintain, if not improve, our talent level during a period of transition on the team without significant increases in our salary structure and achieved flexibility to the point that he has chips to play. With the amnesty period concluded and teams sniffing around the castoffs to see if there's anything useful I think we'll see another move or two happen in the next month. We'd probably like to be "set" by training camp so roles can be defined, etc.

One thing too is that our team got much younger from last year- I think Corliss is the oldest one there- 32yrs old. Younger legs!!

Nobody is hurt yet. ;)

I just means that there have been no dangerous stairs, or walking in the dark, or playing with sharp objects. God forbid if they actually played BB during summer. Sometimes - no BB at home can be a safe policy.

As opposed to taking layups in the gym. Yeah, that's totally safe, especially for a Sacramento King.

it's not how much you score, it's how much you give up

Poor choice of words for a team that has been accused of lacking in the heart department. Made me laugh when I first read that statement. :p

Yeah, no kidding, look at Peja and Doug's plantar faciatis...freak stuff like that is what has killed the team the last 3 years. Bobby's wrist, finger, abs...damn if all of those things werent weird as hell in the happening...one thanks to Shaq. Webber's knee was the only injury that I can think of that didnt occur due to something bizaare happening.
