Rally Behind Boogie!

Where does Boogie rank among the NBA's best players?

KD/Harden/Curry/LeBron are without question better at this point.

Cousins is in the next tier with every ranging from CP3/Davis/LMA/Griffin and pretty much every guy on that Per 100 possessions list. When Cousins actually applies himself on defense he's top 5-10 like he did in the Thunder/Cavs games and earlier in the season when he doesn't like he didn't in the Nets/Celtics/Nuggets games he's outside the top 15-20.

It's still amazing to think that the Thunder could have had three top 10-15 players. Westbrook, Harden, and Durant would be even more difficult to stop with how much each has progressed.

I can't believe some people rank Cousins outside top 20 if his defense isn't up to par. We are 11 points worse with him off the floor in regards to defense. Sorry but Cuz does not equal Griffin. Griffin is a highlight reel Cuz is a superstar and potential MVP. Cuz is better than LMA, Griffin, and any other PF/C you put out there. Winning? How about he gets a coach for more than 2 seasons and a FO that stops effing around and then we will see who is a winner. By the way 14-12 with Cousins = winning to me.

Boogie for the year: (League ranking)
33.0 mpg (47th)
23.9 ppg (5th)
12.3 rpg (3rd)
3.0 apg (89th <---slacker)
1.3 spg (58th but upper tier for big men)
1.7 bpg (13th --tied with Marc Gasol and Josh Smith, 12th if you don't count Terrence Jones's small sample size)
26.7 PER (5th, disregarding Eric Moreland's small sample size and Dwight Powell's small sample sizes)

In comparison:

Anthony Davis
35.8 mpg (13th)
23.8 ppg (7th)
10.5 rpg (11th)
1.6 apg (not that great)
1.5 spg (29th)
2.9 bpg (1st)
31.1 PER (1st)

Marc Gasol
34.5 mpg (25th)
19.5 ppg (22nd)
8.1 rpg (24th)
3.6 apg (64th)
0.8 spg (133rd)
1.7 bpg (13th)
22.4 PER ()

I rank him at #2 behind Lebron. I measure how good the player is by how much positive impact that i perceive the player makes on the court.

I think Cousins is definitely outside of the top 5. Here is my top 10 list

1. Stephen Curry (Thompson)
2. Lebron James (Irving)
3. Kevin Durant (Westbrook)
4. James Harden (Howard)
5. LaMarcus Aldridge (Lillard)
6. Russel Westbrook (Durant)
7. Chris Paul (Griffin)
8. DeMarcus Cousins
9. Anthony Davis (Holiday)
10. Damian Lillard (Aldridge)

Every single player on that list has a better supporting cast than Cousins. Rudy Gay is our #2 guy and I would trade him for every single #2 on there in a heart beat. Also, you could argue that every duo on this list compliments one an other much better than Rudy and DeMarcus currently do. Could you imagine DMC with a legitimate All-Star out there?

I believe that Boogie has the skills to be an all-time great. I love his attitude. Even when he was pouting, I understood it and liked it. It wasn't an ego thing, he was pissed because he wanted to win and the team was not supporting him or his teammates in doing so.

However, if I were to grade out all the best players in the NBA, Boogie would get an "Incomplete," since we haven't seen him in the playoffs yet.

That's not a knock on him. I don't think there is a single player in NBA history who could have gotten to the playoffs if drafted by this team at the time he was, give the general dysfunction, lack of talent, and most importantly, the strength of the Western Conference.

I don't think you can honestly measure great players against other great players until you see them battle good teams and good players in 7 game series. The playoffs are what set apart Kobe from T-Mac and Vince Carter - all 3 looked very similar throughout the regular season, but playoff resume and tenacity makes the difference.

(Edit: For the record, I dislike Kobe for all the reasons I love DMC: a guy who is always happy and genuinely makes an effort to make friends with his teammates and make the locker room a family vs a guy who is all about himself, aloof, and runs great players out of town; a guy who blazed his own trail, plays a very unique game, and seems authentic and innovative vs a guy who derived his game from others, stuck to a narrow and self-serving path, and succeeded by grinding his way into the mold of others set before him. But then- you cannot deny how hard Kobe worked, nor how intensely he devoted himself to winning when it mattered. )

I hope Boogie vs Anthony Davis becomes a great rivalry, maybe even a generation- defining rivalry. But I want to see those games, and many more, before I can really say who Demarcus is.

I would disregard the # 2 Gay is actually good there. Where id go is look at our players 3-8 it would be a joke to compare those guys to every other team. And don't forget he has the worst coach roaming the sidelines.

Gay is a solid #2. I just don't think he really makes Cousins better. Not like the other pairings listed above.

Cousins-Gay is solid.

We need a real PF next to Cousins and for Ben to continue to develop. Those two things happen we have a very very solid 5. The bench though needs complete reconstruction. Nik is a rookie and sucks, Ray just sucks, sessions has been a major disappointment, and all of our big men except for Landry have been awful. Oh yea D-Will sucks too. We need to upgrade the bench.

Let's go Gerbil do something right at least.

Evans and Landry are solid bench guys. The massive drop off at both guard spots has been the biggest problem. Plenty of opportunities for our young guys to have a break out game and earn some minutes. Nobody has stepped up. Nik and Ray really belong in the d-league. Dog eat dog. We need to find someone that wants it or can at least keep this team afloat when our starters are out.

After today's surge, Demarcus is now putting up statistics eclipsed only by some of the all time greats.

Demarcus Cousins 2014-2015
33.2 mpg
24.2 ppg

My list is something like this (trying to stay unbiased):

1) LeBron James
Has played in 4 straight finals and won 2 of them.

2) Kevin Durant
The reigning MVP.

3) Stephen Curry
The Warriors are currently leading the West and his impact is ridiculous.

4) James Harden
Legit MVP candidate. He was huge carrying the Rockets during the stretch without 3 or 4 starters.

5-10) Griffin, Aldridge, Cousins, Westbrook, Paul and Davis. I find it difficult to rank them.

It's hard for me to evaluate Boogie impartially. If I have to describe him with one sentence, it will be: the most amazing player in the NBA! And I honestly believe that if the Kings somehow make the playoffs in the West (i still want to believe this), Cousins should get the MVP.

Who here put Anthony Davis as a Top-3? Paranoid much? Why do I get the feeling that if Tyreke Evans was still here he'd be Top-10 on a list made by Kings fans. This is why as a general rule you can't trust hometown fans opinions of their own players especially on bad teams. They over value the hell out of them. Minnesota fans thought Kevin Love was a Top-5 NBA Player too, how is that working out now?

We've had some solid big men in the past Webber, who none of us would have put ahead of Duncan, Shaq, Kobe from back then, and also Vlade and Miller.

There is currently no player in the NBA like Cousins, he is unique.

The only centers in recent memory I'd trade for him would be Shaq and Hakeem, or if you wanted to include prime Duncan as a 4/5. I'm not sure I'd even trade him for a prime Garnett either but would be close.

Not really a fan of these "Best player of the league" votings. Every player on this list is unique and really talented. Every player on this list fits to a certain roster and playstyle. AD will never be like Cousins and Cousins will never be like AD.
The reason, why I prefer Boogie over any of them are his emotions on the court, his fire and mindset to just dominate the game, no matter who is guarding him. It's just exiting to watch such a big man playing the way Boogie does, scratching, clawing and getting angry with himself, the refs, his teammates and the opponents. When Boogie steps on the court and wants to win, he fires me up every single time.
I love every minute of Kings basketball.

Wall and Cousins would be scary this time. Hopefully Cousins won't get tired of the Kings because of the losing ways and demands to be traded. I wish we still have Malone, I really liked how the Kings were defensively competent and were playing with great effort under him.

These amateurs who have been given the keys have completely screwed Boogie over. You don't build a team to suit a style when you have a transcendent talent like the Boogie monster. Centers are the hardest position to find and develop and we got a gem. They call themselves disrupters but they are anything but. They're chasing instead of leading (and it's all a bit sickening). But as long as we can hang on to the big man there is hope. So yes, Rally Behind Boogie!

Quite certain that if I was still following the Kings as closely as I used to (in the dark Jimmer days), my allegiance would have shifted completely to DMC.

What a beast!

With no major Kings trades.

The Kings MUST RALLY AROUND BOOGIE!

We will see what a big difference a real NBA coach makes in turning this ship around!

GO BOOGIE AND KARL AND THE REST OF THE KINGS!!!

TIME TO MAN UP!

Check in once in a while. I think things are about to get a lot more interesting. :)
