7th pick in this year’s draft is still one of Flemings/Wagler/Acuff/Philon
 
I called this storybook ending months ago. No point in rooting for this team to lose. No matter what thr kangz will rip off 10 meaningless games to close the season and ruin any chance of top pick.

Pacers finally realizing that their pick is only top 4 protected and the potential embarrassment of losing the #5 pick for Zubac, all of the sudden playing like they care.

I expect they will try to win a couple of more games to get to 3rd worst record, where they still share the most ping pong balls with the bottom 3. The Pacers are truly the worst example of Tanking in the NBA, that franchise should be punished and ashamed of themselves.

If the Kings pick that deep I wouldn't at all be surprised to see the pick moved on draft night. Just looking at the Hunter trade for being what it really looks like, the Kings clearly aren't going into a committed sort of rebuild. They are still toeing the line and with the potential draft changes on the horizon the obvious path is to compete now, not develop a 19 year old. If the Kings get into the top 3 maybe, but not that far back.

Their draft pick this year is only top 4 protected from the Zubac trade. The lotto top 4 picks are awarded by lottery. If the Pacers wind up with the worst record and doesn’t win a top 4 spot, they will give up the #5 pick. Since the 3 worst team records have the same odds of winning a top 4 lottery pick, the Pacers all of the sudden decided they can win a few games, since they are a lock to stay in the bottom 3.

It would be less embarrassing for them to lose their draft pick this year, if they don’t end up with the absolute worst record in the NBA.

Okay, I think I follow that. By the way, the Kings have now won 41% of their games since the all-star break, 9 out of 22. With four games left and Steph Curry returning to the court for the two games against Golden State, they may not win any more after last night. All four games are against teams now slotted for the play-in.
