I was checking out the other guards that were drafted behind Douby, and I have decided that this guy actually could end up being special. the other guards numbers were not very impressive. i think out of all the guards Douby is the best scorer, and has the longest arms 6'9 ! Petrie must have planned on Douby playing the 1 but without the duties of actually runnin the point. Its the Kings style to have other players that can handle the ball and set up plays.

I was confused why Douby didnt get more time this year. Seems like such a waste that he didnt get any time to get settled and comfortable this year with us being so out of it. We didnt really see much of him at all. Like K-Mart and Garcia i see this guy takin 2 years to get to a point that he can come in and have the swagger to handle business.

Remember at college he had to be the SG and main go to scorer. its because of that he now has to add alot to his game to play PG. to have to change postitons your first year in the NBA had to be really hard on him and you could tell he was hesitant this year.

Its funny to think about K-marts first 2 years. his shot was on and off driving the lane out of control. just lookin in a panic. Same with Garcia he just looked lost and got way outa control, this year too at times.

I've got a good feeling about Douby. like once he adjusts he could be a nightmare for other teams. hes got that crazy 6'9 reach and can play some tough def, blocking shots, stealing balls. plus hes quick and can get those runners and tear drops to fall. and his 3pt bombs..... he could, once he gets better at seeing the court and handling the 1 be a stud.

Im feeling the youth movment here..... Cross your fingers that with the 10th pick and maybe more picks to come Petrie will man up and lock down are future. His record with seeing the real talent, the ones that last, is pretty good. WE NEED BIGS ! PLEASE LORD GIVE US A BREAK ! NO BUSTS !

Kids shown flashes.

Needs about 20 lbs of muscle though.

I wanna see more Douby next season as well. Same with Price and Williams (if they get resigned).

Whoa...stealing balls? blocking shots? That sounds a whole lot more like Rajon Rondo than Quincy Douby.

Douby does have nice physical tools, as you said with the aforementioned wingspan, and with that he can develop into a decent or pretty nice defender. But I'm definitely not expecting him to be a full-fledged defender. He's come out of college primarily with the reputation of a shooter/scorer, and that's what it should translate to at the NBA level. If he can score well and put up points over time at a good rate, I would already consider him a steal. If you're looking for anything extra, I would prefer him to develop some playmaking skills, or at least improve it, before he goes on to stealing balls or blocking shots. He obviously is far from a finished product, but if he can combine his scoring and mesh it with playmaking all packed in a 6'3" long body, then I would already be happy with him.

seeing how well Petrie can can pick in the mid-low first round pick and knowing that during his workouts he beat all of Peja's previously held records, you know that he can be an excellent scorer. just needs the time.

I was definitely disappointed how little time he got last season.
The guy shot 3's out of triple teams on a nightly basis, lets see if he can knock down a couple in Sac.

That's sometimes said, but a lot of time as what, and where?

Mike Bibby and Kevin Martin were on the team last year -- that's why there was no time. And Kevin does not have the body to swing to SF, where we had a guy named Artest anyway. So what was Douby going to do? And with the much bigger/better suited Salmons and Cisco to play those swing spots as well. And Quincy looked nothing like a PG, was a rookie, and was largely duplicative of Price. In fact really, Price/Douby and Salmons/Cisco were both interchangeable pairs of 1/2s and 2/3s respectively, and there was no way to play them all. Won't be next year either unless major chunks of minutes (Ron + Bibby most likely) are cleared out. And even if its Bibby, Quincy running the point for long minutes is scary. Ans if its Ron, that's only going to help Quincy so much because again Kevin cannot swing up consistently, and obviously neither can Quincy. So at best he could hope that the Salmons/Cisco pairing would be shifted off to SF and leave him 10-12 behind Kevin at the 2...unless Price takes those minutes. Or whatever swingman we draft as a rookie. Or a FA, or a guy in a trade, or....

With Miller at C, douby can work at PG until he develops his PG skills.

I'm excited about Douby too, have been from the beginning. Last year, Douby was just getting a feel for the pros. Now the real progression begins. I think he didn't get much time because he wasn't as comfortable with the team and the offense. It is so much on a young rookie's mind. Especially the traveling. Plus, Price has been showing signs of progress on his own. And I definitely trust Ronnie with the ball way more than Qunicy, as of right now. Ronnie and Quincy could make a great 1/2 duo coming off the bench.

If Douby works hard on his game, especially his ball handling skills, I could see his potential rise to a Manu Ginobli type of player.

Hell, if he even becomes a B-Jax type of player I will consider him a success.

Douby's future role on this team will be in the mold of a Bobby Jackson or Leandro Barbosa. A 6th man who can bring a ton of energy, solid defense, and even more offense. I believe he can become that and that is good enough, every good team has a player like that, it's essential. Douby has the quickness and the shot for the offensive side and he has the length to be disruptive on defense. Hopefully he'll have a chance to show more of that this season. More Douby, more Garcia, less Salmons...please.

Not really. When he was given pt at the end of last year, he was tough on D. He blocked shots, stole balls. I remember he really annoyed Nash when he played against him. He showed more last year on D than on O. I think he could be very good, especially if he finds the running floater shot that he used to have in college.

I have big hopes for Quincy as well. This topic came-up several weeks ago when Carmichael Dave suggested the Kings may want to trade Kmart. I thought that it was an intriguing idea if we could get a 4 or a 5 from a Kmart trade. In Kmart's absence, you place Cisco and Douby into the 2 spot.

I will not be suprised at all if there are a whole bunch of Douby fans around here in 1-3 years.

What's the adage...Never trade big for small. I'd unload KMart for a very talented 4 or 5. VERY, being the key word.

I guess I'm in the minority thinking Douby was a wasted draft pick. The guy comes in and shoots the ball like no one else(with no one guarding him) and we say wow!!! Let's take him!!!

Douby is a solid defender. the scouting report for the draft mentions that he would really bother guys with his long arms, steals and blks. he had a couple blks and steals during the year. but he hardly had any playing time.

count me in on that minority...not many places you can put a PG who can't be a playmaker unless you build a team or unit around those talents... Means we would have to have another guy on the backup unit to playmake for him when he's in. Doug Christie used to bring the ball upcourt and do the passing when BJax was on the floor which let Bjax do his wildcard scoring thing... I don't know if it works with the current team since we're limited on playmakers and good passers. I'm sure he's a solid player and all, Geoff generally nails the BPA in the draft, just not sure he really fits anywhere on the court for us atm.

Cisco can do the that job!

ditto... we really missed out on sergio rodriguez.... oh well...

I was high on douby since we drafted him. I never watched him play but I have feeling about him. I feel that he can be a really powerful shooter, not really sure about defense but his shot is what's getting me excited about him.

i got hopefor this guytoo.. hoping for some arenas out of him :)

i think he could be good but not a stud but he definitely lacks the size and needs to continue to work on his passing skills he's more of a shoot 1st past 2nd guard really could be a 2 guard but thats my opinion, similar to arenas.

i think of him more of a delonte west than a arenas, like delonte, he probly could play a decent pg but is more of a scorer.. i think his upside is a bit better than west though

I think Douby is a much better offensive player. West is obviously bigger and stronger. Douby is what only 177lbs? but Douby might be quicker? and he does have those crazy long arms. Other teams guards will be able to back down Douby in the paint but with his arms he will still be able to challenge the shot. Hes not Bruce Bowen but has always been praised as a pain on defense.

he could. Wow i can see it now....... Douby coming off the bench and drain'n huge 3's. man dreaming about a good future is all we got right now. :(
Please Lord help us in the draft.

i wish we could rotate all of our guys around like the warriors do. It was good to see how all those guys could contribute and the mavs could not stop it for anything

That's great until you face a team with a quality post-up player - like Boozer. The Kings don't have one of those. ;)

thats why we need spencer hawes. if we could get him. i would cry to the heavens above!!! but once again, we probably won't.
