Cold you bet... realistic yup. You have to see things form THEIR perspective. Why take a guy who has virtualy no NBA experience over draft picks? I know the fans here are in love with Martin and dont wnat to part with him, and in no way am I suggesting that the Kings SHOULD trade him. But if youy want to assesss a realistic trade value you have to consider not what you think a palyer is or might be worth alone, but what the other guy thinks he is worth as well.VF21 said:Celt - That's pretty cold. Martin has a lot of potential...and I, for one, think it's time we start looking for the future. Petrie saw something he liked in Martin and I'd like to see the kid get a decent chance before people start shuffling him off.
Oh...Like I said I like Martin, I have high hopes for him but the bigest reason not to offer him is that his market value is not much more than a draft pick and the KIngs have invested in HIM now.
Too late no worries... for the record trading Keven makes NO sense. Keep him feed him, send him to the gym and play him.VF21 said:Oh...
Err...
Hmmm...
I totally misunderstood what you were getting at. Please disregard the nasty PM you should be receiving any second now.

I wouldn't feel too guilty about misunderstanding HndsmCelt; he didn't exactly make himself the clearest person in the world...VF21 said:...Some people stick their foot in their mouth, realize their error and extract said appendange. dont worry bout it, man. good thread. i totally agree with you! (hope i'm not the only one). JJ, at the time the kings signed him, was exactly what the kings needed, and, imo, still need. we have no real backup SF for peja. we havent since we traded hedo (who was an underachiever, as it were). JJ came in and stole his minutes, and rightfully so. he played very well. he may be out of his prime, but he is still a solid backup. he brought the kings a little muscle off the bench. for his height, he's a pretty strong guy. i think he fit in well in the kings offense (and he played a little defense, too), and i honestly believe the biggest mistake that kings management has made in these past seven years was not asking JJ if he wanted to come back. i understand there were money issues, but nobody even asked him. we just let him walk. considering our options at the time, and our thinness on the bench now, i take JJ any day of the week for whatever combination of scrubs and/or draft picks ya can conjur up.VF21 said:kgrichwine - The premise is that JJ was traded and reports out of Houston (not known if they were reliable or not) were that JJ was balking at going to the Hornets and might actually retire first...
So, with little or no regard for logic or doabilityI started the thread. I would truly like to see JJ come back here, but there is most likely little way it could happen for exactly the reason you have stated above.

With the exception of "man," I agree with everything you've said.Padrino said:dont worry bout it, man. good thread. i totally agree with you! (hope i'm not the only one). Because of this, I wonder if he'd come back given the chance. Once bitten, twice shy...Padrino said:i understand there were money issues, but nobody even asked him. we just let him walk.
I dont know...you dont think Jimmy has any ill feelings towards management because of the way he was 'let go'?? Business is business...I guess...and maybe Jimmy didnt have any bad feelings towards the Kings...who knows...I hope not...wow, I dont know whats going on with JJ, but if it were to come up that we could get him back...wow! I mean, BIG wow! That would put us right back up there, our bench would be solid once again, and when Bobby gets back, wow!VF21 said:You're missing the point.
JJ has NOT reported to the Hornets and it's being widely discussed via the media and on the Rockets message board that JJ is very unhappy about the trade and saying he'll retire before going to New Orleans.
Hence my post. I know JJ would agree to come back here. So, if we offer the Hornets ANYTHING they'd jump on it because the rest of the deal is dead if JJ retires...
I was at the Rockets game on Nov. 23. JJ looked really happy to be back in Arco, and exchanged warm greetings with the Kings players. Wouls he like to come back here? My guess would be HELL YES! Especially if it meant he wouldn't have to go to New Orleans...Circa_1985_Fan said:I dont know...you dont think Jimmy has any ill feelings towards management because of the way he was 'let go'??
