i'm rooting for ben also. i think he'll be shipped out. we don't know how much his camp wants and we signed players to replace him to win now. if he does develop into a nice 3&d, can't blame anybody but vivek for his lunacy the past 3 years.
Seriously? Blame Vivek? That's lunacy. Thats like saying the temperature falls at night because the sun goes down. I know it. You know it. But Vivek doesn't know it. He's too busy blaming it on something else.

He's not going to be our PG. We have Collison, Lawson, & Farmar. There's no reason he should be playing there unless you have guys like Afflalo, Gay, & Cousins on the floor with him who will do the bulk of the playmaking, so this point is moot.

"He's a great defender who can guard multiple positions, he has above average handles and passing for a SG (yes, SG is his natural position), and he's a decent shooter who just so happens to be shooting 46% from three this preseason (not sure this is the time for you to be knocking his shot...)."

Great defender?, he got torched by Paul. Not a great defender. Need to watch your adjectives.

"Really? Swapping Karl for Joerger puts us in bigger trouble? The team has looked promising thus far. I know everyone wants everything now, but patience should be practiced by fans when you have a new head coach. Systems take time to become second nature. Bad habits take awhile to break. This is a knee jerk reaction at best..."

Who said anything about swapping coaches? I was talking about Temple.

"
You don't know that they f'd up their draft. Turning Chriss & Belinelli into Bogdanovic, Papagiannis, Richardson, & Labissiere seems to be a very good move on paper. We may lose that swap in the end, but those who have already conceded that we "f'd up" are either impulsive or don't understand the talent going in and/or the talent going out."

I know they didn't address their glaring needs - guard play and shooting in the draft - so yes they screwed up. So where are the new talent - Hmmm? Riding the pine. The 7th round equivalent talent is no-where to be found. Is it too little to ask to draft for need? They drafted 2 centers after drafting Cauley-Stein last year. And so what's to understand in talent if the talent does not play - it doesn't matter.

What do they have to lose? This season, Cousins, the ability to sign FAs next year, ticket sales....do you need me to keep going?

When the Kings have not sniffed the playoffs for 10 years, there's nothin' to lose....sorry to break it to ya. And losing Cousins is not the end of the team....he has not been a leader, and has had 3 or 4 seasons to clean up his act on the court and behave professionally, not as a baby, but doesn't. I would welcome his departure, especially at his perceived value. Ticket sales, that's a function of price to product, and its been abysmal value for long time - I watch the Kings on television/computer. If you're paying to watch them live, you're throwing alot of money away imo. Please keep going....I remember prior to their competitive years for many seasons, so its not like this is new. The organization has failed in the latest draft and in operations for quite some time now.

Ummm, err, are you watching the same games as the rest of us?

Please do not put your own words in my quote. In no way do I want to take credit for the garbage you have been slinging around these parts.

Great defender?, he got torched by Paul. Not a great defender. Need to watch your adjectives.
Yes. He's a great defender. The fact that you think 1 game or the fact that someone got torched by Chris F***ing Paul makes him a poor defender tells me all I need to know about the way you analyze players.

Temple is easily the best perimeter defender we have on this team. His DRAPM is 4th among PGs & 5th among SGs. His DRPM is 5th among PGs & 10th among SGs. And the Wizards gave up 5 fewer points per 100 possessions when he was on the court vs. when he was off. I'll repeat it again. He's a great defender.

Who said anything about swapping coaches? I was talking about Temple.

Were you now?...
Kings are in big trouble this season even more than last year. They didn't play defense last year, but now their offense looks lost too.

Please point out where you were referencing Temple in particular. It's quite obvious you were talking about the team/Kings. Backpedaling is common when you're losing an argument. Seems like it's no different here...

The way you "screw up" a draft is to knowingly choose a less valuable player to help fill a need. This has happened all too often in the NBA. The fact that you think our rookies were going to (or should) even play a big role is concerning. We're a team that is trying to win this year. Relying on rookies is not a recipe for success, but something is telling me you already know that factoid (or at least I pray you do).

When the Kings have not sniffed the playoffs for 10 years, there's nothin' to lose....sorry to break it to ya.

It's this simple minded, vacuum thinking that needs to be laid to bed around here. It's good to assess the entirety of the situation and understand the details when making these types of decisions. But of course, there will always be knee jerk fans that make outrageous claims such as this one.

And losing Cousins is not the end of the team....he has not been a leader, and has had 3 or 4 seasons to clean up his act on the court and behave professionally, not as a baby, but doesn't. I would welcome his departure, especially at his perceived value.

Actually, it is. Cousins is a superstar talent. Losing him means the Kings are back to trying to draft someone who is as good as Cousins. Despite all of his "antics," it is statistically proven that the team plays much, much better with him on the court. If only Cousins was a better leader from the bench, if only Cousins didn't act like such a baby on the bench. if only Cousins didn't pickup so many technicals on the bench....

If Cousins was such a cancer, why is his team so god awful when he isn't out there? You don't know what you have in front of your very own eyes.

Ticket sales, that's a function of price to product, and its been abysmal value for long time - I watch the Kings on television/computer. If you're paying to watch them live, you're throwing alot of money away imo.

And imagine how bad that product would be if Cousins was not on this team? From a business standpoint, it's suicide in the near term and potentially long term (as you may have fans quit altogether and choose another team to follow).

The fact that you watch the Kings helps their profits. It's interesting that you don't understand. There are such things as TV deals and the prices of those deals consider TV ratings. If people aren't watching the Kings, they aren't getting as much money. So although you personally might not be paying to watch them (which is debatable considering you do pay your cable/satellite bill), you do have a tie to how much they can make.

You've drank your own cool-aid here tw. Of course you draft for need unless its plainly obvious that the player you're getting instead will be impactful. And yes(!) rookies should get big roles - That is the whole purpose of good drafting! As is obvious, the Kings have been losing, and they bring in more mediocre players in FA- so yes, rookies are the best outlet for change as they are younger and have more potential to grow if the management won't pony up. So they made questionable picks, and their picks are not getting any looks on the court anyways. They lose every year and bring back the same personnel, but draft poorly, then manage the team poorly on the floor.....knee jerk? - 10 years - nothing knee jerk about it. Knee jerk would be they've had several winning season, and demanding change, and the team is above .500 some of the time.... Doing the same thing over and over but expecting the same results here. Its a team sport - they lose with Cousins - that's a fact - not a factoid - it doesn't matter if he's the best player in the world. He hasn't improved his attitude and doesn't seem willing to either. That's not leadership on the court. And I don't have pay tv, but I do pay time - which includes here arguing about non-sense anyway.

We have a thread devoted to bashing Cousins. I think you can find a way to utilize that thread instead of extending the life of a thread that's been dormant for nearly a week.
