It's two completely different things. The cow pastures and the rural surroundings of this community are a big part of our business and heritage. However, the run down areas of Detroit conjur up thoughts of poverty, crime and indigent persons and the last time I checked not many people would rather take a relaxing Sunday drive to a run down inner city neighborhood over a drive to the country. Additionally, those parts of Detroit and all cities are always targeted for improvement and revitalization whereas the rural areas of Sacramento and other cities usually are not.

Please. Like those cowtown jabs are bringing out visions of a desireable serene countryside that's part of our Sac's history. don't think so.

Its pretty much the same thing...a little "your city stinks" jab just like has been done to us. Nothing personally degrading like the Doug thing the Mavs did that was over the line.

it's childish, but I'm surprised it's one of those "I have never been so embarrased" sort of things for some. To each his/her own...

I just don't like it because it's a stupid thing that only gives the other team/fans motivation. Lot's of extra boos and fan energy next time we're in Detroit, especially now that the media is hyping it.

Eventhough the video is stupid, Detroit is really a ghetto. You know what was depicted on the jumbotron is true if you visited Detroit.

There is no excuse for those Detroit images. There must be nice places in Detroit and positive things to say about the place. I am not a politically correct person, but there are limits to public expression. When statements humiliate and embarass the citizens of two cities, the offending action has gone way too far.

The person responsible for the Detroit images must be an absolute jerk.

I cannot think of many off the top of my head :)

...With that said what were they thinking? I am not upset about it but it shows a lack of class and just makes an already bad start to the season worse.

Are we turning into Portland?

There's a reason why Detroit has hosted the MLB allstar game this year, the superbowl next year, and the NCAA final four in 2 years..... they've done a great job with the downtow area, though admittedly its a work in progress.

Also, the suburbs of detroit are among the richest in the united states. A lot of poeple only see the city, but the suburbs around the city are absolutely gorgeous, not to mention extremely high class. Birmingham is one of the ritziest places you'll ever see.

I accept the city is in bad shape, but to say there is NOTHING good about it is just ignorant.

Early this year we (and a lot of other Kings fans) went to Oakland for the Kings/Warriors game. The Warriors played several really lame videos as well as a floor show with their idiotic mascot bashing the Kings. I sat there unamused, thinking I was really glad the Kings showed more class by not following that trend. I was really disappointed last night with a) the dud pregame Slamson/smoke thing and b) that we resorted to showing disrespectful images of Detroit.

I've never been to Detroit. I don't want to go there, not even for the Super Bowl, but there's just no good reason to do the negative. C'mon Kings, you have the best and classiest fans in the NBA. Honor them by following their example!
