Okay time to redo this again this year. What is your Western Conference Standings:

1) Oklahoma City
2) Denver
3) Houston Rockets
4) Lakers
5) Minnesota
6) Dallas
7) San Antonio
8) Golden State
9) Clippers
10) Portland
11) New Orleans
12) Kings
13) Memphis
14) Suns
15) Jazz

Teams that will finish above the Kings: Too many. I don't care which ones.

Other games we could play -->

Predict whether I will get league pass this year. Hint: the odds go up with our passes per possession.

Predict: The posters who will demonstrate change, flexibility, growth, and some interest in listening to others this season.

Predict: Who starts this same thread next year, with a keen ear to hear your thoughts and an appreciation of your perspective.

Ask me this question on 10/20/2025, and I might be able to give you an answer.

I actually think the Suns assuming health will be a playoffs/play in team (500. or slightly above) Booker will be back as the #1 option they got perimeter D in Dunn, rookie, ONeal, Allen and Brooks with rim protection from there 3 bigs. PG remains a concern I don't see the Suns being bad unless Booker goes down and Jalen Green is a massive wildcard as is the health of Williams.

Yeah I considered them but too many guys are at their best as 2 guards.

My thoughts:

Top Tier – the real contenders

1) OKC
2) Denver
3) Houston

Second Tier- the threats to win a round or two

4) Minnesota
5) Lakers

Fighting for the 6 seed

6) Clippers
7) Warriors (though a lot of offseason left for them)

Play-in or worse teams – I think the spread of these teams is probably 5-6 games, and there is a lot of potential flux – like everyone in this tier is winning between 38 and 44 games, and I could see anyone in this group being 8th or 13th depending on how thing break.

8) Portland – finished the season strong and got better
9) San Antonio – provided Wemby plays 70 plus games. If not, they are in the 12 range
10) Kings – still a lot of talent, and a training camp to gel
11) Dallas- I don’t get the attraction. Yes, Flagg will be good, but is he turning this team around as a rookie? No Kyrie for awhile, Klay and AD a year older and AD always hurt. Russell? I am just not sold on this team. Maybe when Flagg is in his second or third year.
12) Phoenix – maybe they surprise with Booker taking back over as the clear lead dog, but the talent and especially fits seem poor.
13) Memphis – think they will really miss Bane, and have never been convinced in Morant

Teams I think are worse than the Kings

14) New Orleans

Teams that are much worse than the Kings

15) Utah

Yeah I think our groupings are pretty similar though I think SA is fighting for the 6th seed too. Wemby is just too good.

New Orleans to me is interesting. If healthy they have players but can they be healthy and who plays point.

I think AD and Flagg carry Dallas further than people think.

This would be my current rranking. But I do expect that 2 teams of the Pelicans/Suns/Portland will wise up during the season and tank for a better pick. And then I expect one of the top teams to deal with injuries and finish below Sac. Ultimately standings wise I have us at 11 which is literally the worst spot in the league.

The Suns and the Pelicans both owe their firsts unprotected, I believe. They could very well end up worse than the Kings, but not because they tanked for a better pick.

You are right, I forgot the Pelicans made the worst trade of the summer lol.
Healthy Pelicans I have better than Sac. Now they are starting with murray out, and Zion is always a ? so we will see what happens.
PHX we will see. They have the best player between us and them, and they fit better than Sac with more defenders. We will be neck and neck imo

NBA isn't what it used to be, and the Kings are not worth League pass this year.

The NBA is better than ever. The talent in the league has never been greater with the last 4 MVP’s being guys who 20-30 years ago would have been playing soccer or water polo. We have not had a back to back champion in years and almost every team has a player that would have been an all star for sure 30 years ago.

The Kings however are stuck with a play-in caliber old team that gives fans nothing to be excited about present or future.

The thing about the Pels is that Murray isn’t just out, he tore his Achilles, which is probably a death sentence for a point guard and leaves the keys in the hands of Jordan Poole and Jeremiah Fears. Even if you’re working under the assumption that Fears is eventually going to be good (big ask), it’s not going to be the case this year and the sheer number of terrible defenders they’re probably going to try to play this season might actually cancel out the couple of good defenders they have left on their roster. (Also Herb could miss the start of the season so they won’t even have that going for them)

Seems like every offseason 29 teams get better and 1 team gets worse. Pretty sure the mean winning percentage of teams across the league next year is going to be over .700.
Kings fans’ ability to be wildly optimistic about the futures of every single other team in the league is somehow even more impressive than their ability to be negative about the Kings

I was pretty high on Fears coming out. But they also have Jose. I'm also a massive fan of Murphy and am pretty excited to see the leap he takes this year.
Poole/Fears/(Murray)
Herb/Alvarado/Hawkins
Murphy/Bey
Zion/Queen
Missi/Looney

I'm not seeing a whole lot of bad defenders in this bunch outside the pg spot. It will come down to health with them which has been awful. But a healthy Pelicans is a solid team. I like what they did to clear out some overlap, give other guys more of an opportunity. I love Looney as a vet backup, I like the kids in Murphy, Fears, Queen, Missi.

I don't see this roster and immediately think we are better.

How good they are pretty much comes down to Zion. A healthy, motivated fit Zion I could see them as a playoff/play-in team. If he misses significant time they don’t have a chance.
