Potential Free Agent/Trade/Sign Tracker, '25-'26 Season

don't know what the Wiz would do with Sabonis but teams have snagged some talent from the Wiz in the past in Avdija, Hachimura and Gafford maybe there is another player there that could blossom with more time and development
Even if the deal was just like Bilal, Middleton’s expiring, whatever other random dude the Wizards need us to take to make the salaries work, the OKC first this season that’s probably going to be 30th overall barring an unprecedented meltdown, the Portland 1st in 2030, and a bunch of seconds, I’d probably be cool pulling the trigger

Unlike rodman, sabonis is a below average defender and a guy who demands touches.

Ill never understand people defending sabonis the way they do. Great king, will go down as a fan favorite. But we can be honest about the player he is. Defensive liability, non existent as a rim protector, great rebounder, great screen setter, not a guy you give the ball to when you need a bucket.

We all watched the warriors series where a coach's answer to sabonis was to play him 1v1 and sag off using kevon looney. That simple coaching decision broke the kings offense and rendered the dho useless. Sabonis forced the issue drawing offensive fouls and turnovers. We suddenly turned into an iso ball team of fox/monk taking turns.

We can respect and appreciate sabonis game and contribution to the Kings, without forcing him to be a guy he wasnt. This year was further evidence that without building the system around him perfectly, he struggles immensely offensively.

I chalk it up to half the fan base upset at fox so turned to the well sabonis is our best guy anyways. Soon sabonis will get traded and the reality will set in with these folks.

And you didn’t even get to his defensive liabilities comical that some think he was close to a top ten player there’s a reason the return for Sabonis is gonna be beyond mid teams know you’re not truly contending with him

Put him in a team like the rockets and its lights out. Few players can be a superstar. That doesn’t mean he has low value. Hell you see what the Jazz want for Walker Kessler.

I have to agree,... reluctantly, because the guy always busts his rear end out there with effort and wants to win desperately. Unfortunately though, he's over paid, if you are really serious about being a contender. Really tough to play a power forward tweeener type at center, who doesn't affect the game defensively and doesn't have an elite offensive game

How does a player of this description make 3 all-star team and 2 All-NBA teams?

He's a really solid player and a great rebounder. Just not a center for a contender, possibly unless you have a really talented and unique fitting roster with him. I suspect that much of the league agrees, but who knows.

If you go back and look at the guys who have made All Star teams and 3rd team All NBA, I think you might some others who fit into this kind of category

Speaking of the rockets Sengun already clears him you can give him the ball and he’ll be searching for buckets not DHO’s. And the jazz want that for Walker cause he can fit any team and provide elite defense for you Sabonis can’t and needs a specific fit.

At his peak he was still a top 30 NBA player. But this isn't a guy you build a contender around, let alone arguably a consistent playoff tea. Guys like Magloire, Tyrone Hill, and Kyle Korver have made all nba teams btw.

Literally none of those guys made an All-NBA team, they made 1 all-star appearance. I thought that sounded completely wrong, and guess what! It was! Did you think I wouldn't check that? LOL

You're not making any sense.

So Domas is the worst 3x All-Star and 2x All-NBA recipient in NBA history? During the most talented period of NBA basketball? Is that argument we're making here? Was he not deserving of those accolades because he's "Bagless" and "doesn't have an elite offensive game"?

He deserved that recognition....and I still don't view him as a starting 5 for a contender. There might be a couple teams interested in trading for him, but it sure doesn't sound like many. What would be the reasons for this?

How did a subpar offensive player land on the all nba team 2 of the last 3 seasons?

Some of you are flat out ridiculous

all nba really means little if the impact isn't there and you are severely limited offensively and defensively. Sabonis did help the Kings break their long drought but it's been time to move on, keeping him for longer will only diminish value

We've heard reports on 4 teams yeah? PHX/CHI/WAS/GS ?

Seems like that's something. Giannis has only been reported to NYK and MIA as destinations he'd want to go to. What does that mean? Does him not having 7+ teams being reported being "in" on him matter?

So severely limited offensive and defensive players can make an All-NBA team.

That might be the hottest sports take I've ever heard and I don't think it's particularly close.

If he were to get to another playoff series and a team used the same defensive strategy against him that Golden State did, would you expect a much different result now? I would not.

I've been looking bigger picture with him, as in a potential post season run and what that could look like, because this is what any decent team that might want to consider trading for him is doing

Gobert, Simmons, Deandre Jordan

Gobert is a 4 time Defensive player of the year. Simmons was also one of the best defenders in the game in his prime and an elite passer. Jordan made one all star game and has averaged 8.5 points a game for his career. The closest one to your point is Jordan given he has 3 all nbas on his resume but I don’t think they are comparable to the numbers Sabonis has put up.

comparable by numbers, no, but in terms of impact, it's about right.

Tomorrow is December 15. Any predictions as to what the Kings' front office might do? I have no clue, especially since Mr. Perry says he has been working the phones, but completing a trade is complicated due to all the variables on both sides (or multiple sides) of the transaction.

I’ve learned to keep my expectations low so I don’t get disappointed more than I need to with a disappointing franchise.
I think nothing happens

Historically very few trades happen on or around Dec 15th. I think C-Dave said there were only a handful in all of December last year. Dennis is the one to watch early in my opinion

The only time I could see a trade is if a team is dying to get rid of a talented player because they commited a felony or something like that and get absolutely nothing in return.
