Potential Free Agent/Trade/Sign Tracker, '25-'26 Season

I think Simmons emotionally would fare better on a small market team like Sacramento. It’s what I have read about his physical health, back issues mostly, that concerns me.
If the latter checks out okay, I wouldn’t be against bringing him in. He certainly could fill a need.

It's been 4 years since Simmons played good basketball. I think he's pretty much cooked from an on court standpoint and that doesn't even include all his other issues. I think I'd rather just run with our current roster if we can't get a player that can be a part of the future.

It feels stupid typing this, but I'd honestly rather give IJ 15 MPG next season in a consistent back-up role to see how he develops than screw around with Ben Simmons. While it's unlikely IJ develops into a future starter... there's maybe a chance there. He's still a mystery box.

Our priority should be trying to unlock swing players that can elevate this team into an actual playoff constant. Not a depth option that just takes minutes away from those guys

Ben Simmons would be a minimum player with less role than Fultz had last season. Still he's 28 and if he somehow could return to form by virtue of being in a low profile, small market team with zero expectations he could have a good run in him.

My only issue is that if he actually worked out for us we'd probably lose him the following season and this team is nowhere near where it needs to be to compete. Also I wouldn't want to rehab him at the expense of player development. Still its intriguing on a minimum.

------------------------------

MIL Gets: DeMar DeRozan
MIL Gives: Kyle Kuzma & Tyler Smith
Why for MIL? With Lillard hurt/gone, the Bucks don't have a powerful scorer behind Giannis. DeRozan gives them just that and can help keep the team afloat while Giannis is resting.

PG - Anthony / Porter / Rollins
SG - Trent / Green / Harris
SF - DeRozan / Prince / Jackson / Livingston
PF - Giannis / Portis
C - Turner / Sims

------------------------------

TOR Gets: Malik Monk, Dario Saric, & Terrence Davis
TOR Gives: RJ Barrett
Why for TOR? The Raptors have been rumored to be interested in Monk. He gives them a solid backup PG behind Quickley while opening up the wing spots for Dick, Walter, & Agbaji to get some burn.

PG - Quickley / Monk / Shead
SG - Dick / Walter / Davis / Temple
SF - Ingram / Agbaji / Battle / Lawson
PF - Barnes / Murray-Boyles / Castleton / Saric
C - Poeltl / Mamu / Mogbo

------------------------------

SAC Gets: RJ Barrett, Kyle Kuzma, & Tyler Smith
SAC Gives: DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, Dario Saric, & Terrence Davis
Why for SAC? The Kings clear out their log jam a bit by sending out Monk, and they also send out DeRozan who's not the best fit with the core/direction moving forward. In exchange, they get a 25 year old wing (Barrett) who can do a little bit of everything (score, pass, handle, shoot, etc.) while also getting a PF/SF in Kuzma to give them some more depth & size in the frontcourt. Tyler Smith is also a decent throw in as someone that you hope could carve out a role as a long, athletic, 3&D PF (which would be a great fit next to Sabonis). Financially, this has us basically taking on almost no additional salary (~$600k) and both Barrett and Kuzma expire in 2 years which aligns with when LaVine & Schroder expires. We'd be setup to have a lot of flexibility during the 2027 offseason.

PG - Schroder / Carter
SG - LaVine / Ellis
SF - Barrett / Clifford
PF - Murray / Kuzma / Jones / Smith
C - Sabonis / Raynaud / Eubanks

i hope we get Ben Simmons over Russ/Brogdan.

Partially because I’m a Simmons truther and have wanted him for years. I still think he’s the right situation away from finding his new role as a valuable contributor(not being an all star again, but a really good role player)

plus, he fits with the current make up of the roster. Especially if Raynaud is number 2 behind Domas. There is less pressure on Simmons to be a floor spacer in a second unit. His point forward ability and defensive versatility covers a lot of the current needs of the Kings in one likely cheap acquisition.

I would be very happy with that pick up. It would show some imagination, projection, and theory that I think has been lacking with the front office decisions for years now.

Meaning I don’t think they look at players like PJ Washington for example in his Charlotte form and see him as what he would ultimately be in Dallas. Or Gafford. And so on. Just what they see is what it is.

I’m not opposed to Russ or Brogdan but it doesn’t seem like a move that much thought was put into.
I'm opposed to Russ and Brogdan. I don't know if Ben Simmons even moves the needle, but that is at least a speculative add if you don't pay more than minimum

I agree. I'm lower on IJ than most but he does have some intriguing skills. He has a really good finishing ability at the rim for a guy who hasn't played a whole lot of basketball in his life. I'd say it's even elite for an undrafted player. Lets just take a look at him since the team isn't going places anyway.

If we were a solid 6th seed and needed a backup wing/PF and Simmons was available, I'd have no problem taking a look at him.

If the Kings are going full on retread Simmons should be the guy.
