If I thought DeRozan would agree to come off the bench, or the Kings were willing to force him..I wouldn’t want to trade him at all. He would be an absolute beast off the bench.

I also think Aldama would be a great pick up and a good fit with Domas.

If Christie could somehow convince DeRozan to come off the bench and we can slide Lavine to small forward (where he often played for the Bulls), the Kings could start a more balanced line up, even if we don't make any big moves.

I just read on HoopsHype that Zach Lowe thinks the Kings are, or would be, interested in Jaylen Brown of the Celtics. It would have to be a massive trade package, though, and he doubts the Celtics would take it. Brown's base salary is over $54 million next season, their second-most expensive player. On the other hand, the Celtics have already agreed to trade Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday. At the same time, Jayson Tatum is likely to miss the entire season.

Meanwhile, Davion Mitchell signed a two-year, $24 million guaranteed contract with the Miami Heat.

Yea I just don't buy that. There are certainly some players that have little to no value, and I just don't see Monk being one of them. Inefficient, sure - but his passing, ball handling and scoring ability is enough for any team to wanna give him a shot and his contract is nowhere near egregious territory IMO.

If he's such a good catch, why is he always on the move? Not a great three point shot or on catch and shoot, and on the smaller side. I'd rather root for Monk if landing Schroeder means that Monk is on the way out.

Cant ask for much given those credentials GS is putting out there. I would say monk is more valuable to the kings than kuminga was to the warriors. Murray or Keon are a no go for me

Yeah, the problem with Simmons is that he is always out for either injury or mental issues. We need a PG that will be available 70+ games a year and Simmons can only be relied on for 40 or so games a year. As a bench player maybe, as your starter you count on, no.

I would rather the Kings use the MLE money on a PG that still has some upside like Ty Jerome than overpaying for an older vet that doesn't push us over the playoff line.

He will organize the offense, get the team in their sets and get everyone where they need to be, he’ll get quality looks for Sabonis, LaVine, Keegan. He would be like a coach on the floor and would teach the young guys like Keon, Keegan and Devin Carter. If he’s getting ran off the floor defensively you can come in with Carter and Keon off the bench.

Vivek doesn't need media narratives to make him look bad, he's done more than enough with his own words over the years to accomplish that. Although actually I don't hate him at all. His antics would be endearing and mostly harmless if he were the owner of someone's else's franchise. I genuinely like the guy for as much as I know about him (not much) and have no problem with him aiming to make this a family business. If I ever have the chance to meet him I'd be happy to shake his hand and wish him well. It's just that I do not care for his takes on the game of basketball on any level and I wish he could somehow keep those to himself.

Well, DeMarcus Cousins was traded for Buddy Hield in 2017 -- a player Vivek swore was the second coming of Steph Curry at the time. And history repeated itself this year with De'Aaron Fox getting traded not for a haul of picks and one top prospect as is generally commensurate for a player of his caliber but for two (likely to be) late first rounders and Zach LaVine who he has been salivating over ever since like he's Klay Thompson's twin brother.

I don't hold him directly responsible for the Bagley over Doncic decision but we know he's had (or claimed to have) input on draft picks in the past and someone needed to smack some sense into Vlade when he wanted to pick a guy who's only recognizable skill in college was dunking on players 6 inches shorter than himself instead of the 19 year old savant who had just been named Euroleague MVP.

And ultimately it culminates with the firing of Mike Brown and Monte McNair after they both proved to be more than up to the task of building a winner in Sacramento. I know that you see this as the right move (at least in the case of Mike Brown) but what it tells me is that Vivek still doesn't recognize a good thing when it's staring him in the face (shades of Mike Malone all over again) and would rather go chase after shiny new objects than stay the course with a couple of rational if unexciting professionals in charge of the basketball decisions who had already built a foundation for long-term success.

I do think that if Vivek picked alone he picks Doncic. His kid wanted Doncic. It was Brandon Williams that really pushed that more than anyone.

I have said I agree with Brown and I do think it got personal there, in the end Brown should have not forced the contract issue early. I am projecting personal experience into this as having come from a long line of family business owners who I feel would have been equally appalled by the way Brown conducted himself to get an early raise and extension. I liked Monte but it's clear he had shortcomings and thus far I don't think Perry has been a step back. I do think it's puzzling that Perry basically picked the same type of players Monte would and is getting heaps of praise for it, whereas if Monte were here it would be "typical Monte", but I think that likely just means that the guys under Monte and Wes have been retained, which I view as a good thing.

It's all good. You asked so I gave my reasons. I have very strong opinions about basketball that probably wouldn't align with most owners. I'm not among those who want Vivek to be gone even if I'm not happy with how he's steered the team so far. He's still heaps better than the Maloofs and we're bound to stumble in to some good fortune sooner or later as long as there's genuine will to win coming from ownership.
