Postgame Quotes-vs. Minnesota
Kings Coach Rick Adelman
“It was just a game where they shot it really well when they needed to but, we just didn’t defend them very well the whole game. Neither team really defended very well but I think the thing that really hurt us was that they beat us to a lot of loose balls; they beat us on all the effort plays to keep the ball alive at their end. We missed shots at the basket, we didn’t come up with rebounds, the balls on the court and we didn’t get it – those are the types of things that you can’t let happen at home…We didn’t cover a couple of plays very well. You give up 36 points in the last quarter, you’re not going to win very many games.”
Peja Stojakovic
“They scored some tough baskets, and then at the end they got us a little confused and they executed on the offensive end. I think we have to be more focused at the end.”
“They really executed on the offensive end. They were moving the ball, finding the open man, and they knocked down some big shots. At the end, we have to get more aggressive on the defensive end.”
“We didn’t pay enough attention on the defensive end, especially in the last couple of minutes, and they really took advantage of it. They are a really experienced team. We need to be more focused on the defensive end. Some shots go in, some don’t, we can’t rely too much just on our offense. It was a high scoring game, so it came down to the defense.”
Mike Bibby
“They made some tough shots. We were contesting them, but they still were going in.”
On the clock shutting off:
“It was tough, we didn’t know how much time there was. It was hard out there, because a lot if it is clock management.”
“They (Minnesota) were hitting shots. We were going back and forth for a little bit, but then we missed a couple shots and they made them.”
MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
Coach Flip Saunders:
“I don’t think either team was in jeopardy of getting a 24 second violation through most of the game.”
“I though we carried the energy over from the other night against Memphis and it was a great game for people to watch, either in the stands or on television. It was an old school game where both teams were making shots and making plays.”
“We got great match-ups because the best players play the same position on each team. That makes for great games, but I though we had a great effort on our whole team and our bench was huge.”
“I though we had good energy and they made tough shots. I thought overall we did a pretty good job and we made some stops down the stretch when we needed to.”
Wally Szczerbiak:
“Luckily (the noise) wasn’t too bad and you could hear—that was important. It’s all behind us and hopefully we won’t have to deal with that again.
“Everyone stepped up and played their role and did their job. This is a big win. We’re road warriors and we just need to keep it up.”
Sam Cassell
“(Sarcastically) 2:52 in the game and all the sudden the clock breaks down? We went up four and then the clock breaks—it must be a conspiracy going on here. The referees did a good job letting us know how much time was left. I don’t see how they did it.”
“We respect these guys a lot. They got a lot of quality, tough guys over there like Mike Bibby, Webber, Peja, and Jackson. I think they respect us too. It’s just when two teams collide, you give a team an edge they’ll just take advantage of it. Tonight we kept the pace with them and we never allowed them to get their big runs.”
