Postgame Quotes-vs. Minnesota

rick_adelman.jpg

Kings Coach Rick Adelman

“It was just a game where they shot it really well when they needed to but, we just didn’t defend them very well the whole game. Neither team really defended very well but I think the thing that really hurt us was that they beat us to a lot of loose balls; they beat us on all the effort plays to keep the ball alive at their end. We missed shots at the basket, we didn’t come up with rebounds, the balls on the court and we didn’t get it – those are the types of things that you can’t let happen at home…We didn’t cover a couple of plays very well. You give up 36 points in the last quarter, you’re not going to win very many games.”

Peja Stojakovic

“They scored some tough baskets, and then at the end they got us a little confused and they executed on the offensive end. I think we have to be more focused at the end.”

“They really executed on the offensive end. They were moving the ball, finding the open man, and they knocked down some big shots. At the end, we have to get more aggressive on the defensive end.”

“We didn’t pay enough attention on the defensive end, especially in the last couple of minutes, and they really took advantage of it. They are a really experienced team. We need to be more focused on the defensive end. Some shots go in, some don’t, we can’t rely too much just on our offense. It was a high scoring game, so it came down to the defense.”

Mike Bibby

“They made some tough shots. We were contesting them, but they still were going in.”

On the clock shutting off:
“It was tough, we didn’t know how much time there was. It was hard out there, because a lot if it is clock management.”

“They (Minnesota) were hitting shots. We were going back and forth for a little bit, but then we missed a couple shots and they made them.”

MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES

Coach Flip Saunders:

“I don’t think either team was in jeopardy of getting a 24 second violation through most of the game.”

“I though we carried the energy over from the other night against Memphis and it was a great game for people to watch, either in the stands or on television. It was an old school game where both teams were making shots and making plays.”

“We got great match-ups because the best players play the same position on each team. That makes for great games, but I though we had a great effort on our whole team and our bench was huge.”

“I though we had good energy and they made tough shots. I thought overall we did a pretty good job and we made some stops down the stretch when we needed to.”

Wally Szczerbiak:

“Luckily (the noise) wasn’t too bad and you could hear—that was important. It’s all behind us and hopefully we won’t have to deal with that again.

“Everyone stepped up and played their role and did their job. This is a big win. We’re road warriors and we just need to keep it up.”

Sam Cassell

“(Sarcastically) 2:52 in the game and all the sudden the clock breaks down? We went up four and then the clock breaks—it must be a conspiracy going on here. The referees did a good job letting us know how much time was left. I don’t see how they did it.”

“We respect these guys a lot. They got a lot of quality, tough guys over there like Mike Bibby, Webber, Peja, and Jackson. I think they respect us too. It’s just when two teams collide, you give a team an edge they’ll just take advantage of it. Tonight we kept the pace with them and we never allowed them to get their big runs.”

No Miller quotes...dam!

i was really expecting some too.

i haven't seen his stat line from last night...but it was seemingly better than the last two games or so....too bad it was overshadowed by him going all "Grinch" on everyone....luckily for him...it didn't hurt the team too much last night...but he's gotta get it together...sometimes it propels him to a power game and then some nights it makes him look like a jerk...like last night....i mean maybe its expected of me to say this (being iheartBrad and all) but im not too overly worried about the "Grinch" act...i mean it happens...this isn't the first time...and it won't be the last

exactly what i was thinking.
maybe they had to wipe out half of the conversation and decided they might as well not bother.

peja talked! long sentences too!
does peja ever curse?

Given Brad's mental state at the end of the game, I would guess that the team kept him clear of the media for all the above reasons.

Anybody know who pee'd in Joe Crawfords cornflakes yesterday??? Maybe one day he will realize that he is not the reason that people come to watch games. His little tirade with Miller in the first quarter was a joke and then he throws a fan out??? What an ***....

Watching the games on TV, we don't get to experience the noise at Arco or else don't pay any attention to it. But last night I noticed how quiet it was there. I know it wasn't so quiet, but on our end of the TV, you could have heard a pin drop at times.

There seems to be a general malaise affecting the fans not only at Arco, but on fan boards. Our board is actually much, much more active than other Kings boards and it's down quite a bit from last year.

I think a big part of the reason is all the controversy over Webber, booing, Pedja's trade demand, the media's constant harping about how much is bad with the Kings, etc. I also think having our hearts broken every year since 2001-2002 is taking its toll.

The true Arco fans are still there. They're just not quite as open with their hearts. They start to cheer when the team does something really worth cheering about, and the team responds by doing something to make them cheer more. I said it in another thread - it's a symbiotic relationship.

If the clock hadn't malfunctioned last night, I think Arco Thunder might well have carried the Kings on to a win. By having to sit there and wait SEVEN stupid minutes, however, the momentum for the team AND the fans was lost...

I know a lot of GOOD Kings fans who cheer their hearts out, and I honestly don't personally know any of the "fans" who've chosen to boo their own home team. Quite frankly, I don't think I'd have much in common with them...

Bottom line? Next time you go to a game, make sure YOU cheer loudly and long. If you do, it'll spread and before long the old Arco Thunder will be back in full force.

I have faith...

;)

Since last year, whenever I listen to the Kings post game show (after the game) on the radio, there has always been at least one caller complaining about the fans being too quiet. :\
Last night's game, a fan called in and said he was at the game. When the clock wasn't working, his section didn't know what was going on and only saw the players running and shooting. They didn't know when to cheer, etc and were confused. So you are right about the momentum when the clock stopped, VF! ;)

I agree. Especially the next time the Wolves come to town. Lets show Wally that we are still the loudest fans in the NBA from start to finish.

as for the arco thunder, well i vow to if i can ever get my grubby paws on some kings tickets to be as LOUD as my voice will allow me to be, and for as long as it will allow me to be. since i love to sing along to my opera CD's, it's a long time :D just as long as i recharge the battery with a little lemonade.

i'll make lightning bolts headband ( for arco thunder :D )

I wonder if most local Networks are starting to use filters to filter out the crowd noise. I know the Networks do that every game so maybe some are?!

I think thats he biggest thing... Theres only so much heart break one can take before you have to take a step back. Maybe a few have needed to do just that?
I did after we lost to the Lakers... Wasnt untill The Monarchs started coming down the stretch that I started paying attention to any hoops at all.
