Possible Lineups

Now that the lottery has ended I thought I would lay out some lineups that include the possible rookies we could draft to see which one you guys liked best.

After looking at the King's salaries and how much money a #5 pick will demand, we have enough money to offer $7 mil a year to Thompson and $3 mil a year to Williams if we want to (not saying we should offer that much). Personally I would like to see Thompson and Williams back in a Kings uniform next year so for the sake of these lineups they will be included.

Another assumption is that I have Evans returning to the PG position next year based off of Coach Smart's plans.

Team A
PG Evans/Thomas/Fredette
SG Thornton/Williams/Garcia
SF Gilchrist/Salmons/Outlaw/Honeycutt
PF Thompson/Hayes
C Cousins/Whiteside

Team B
PG Evans/Thomas/Fredette
SG Thornton/Garcia
SF Williams/Salmons/Outlaw/Honeycutt
PF Robinson/Thompson/Hayes
C Cousins/Whiteside

Team C
PG Evans/Thomas/Fredette
SG Thornton/Beal/Garcia
SF Williams/Salmons/Outlaw/Honeycutt
PF Thompson/Hayes
C Cousins/Whiteside

Team D
PG Evans/Thomas/Fredette
SG Thornton/Garcia
SF Williams/Salmons/Outlaw/Honeycutt
PF Drummond/Thompson/Hayes
C Cousins/Whiteside

Team E
PG Evans/Thomas/Fredette
SG Thornton/Williams/Garcia
SF Barnes/Salmons/Outlaw/Honeycutt
PF Thompson/Hayes
C Cousins/Whiteside

So which one lineup is the best one going forward?

B is my least favorite. A would mean something crazy happened.
D and E are most likely. If the team can move some glut I prefer E, but as the team stands D would work out the best in terms of trying to be a contender.

I like the balance of the lineups where we take Robinson and Drummond. I could see the 3 guard rotation being Evans, Thornton, and Thomas. Williams and Salmons can share minutes and swing over to play SG when need be. Then we have our big man rotation of Cousins, Thompson, Whiteside, Hayes, and our rookie big. I don't see too many log jams with team B and D.

However I don't think Robinson is the player we are looking for next to Cousins. And although he's a hard worker and athletic, he's not that defensive presence that we need. Drummond comes with his own issues. He looks like he should be an ideal fit. It just comes down to his work ethic and desire to get better.

The team with Gilchrist I like simply because we have Gilchrist, but then we have Thomas, Williams, and Salmons needing minutes. It might be solved by not resigning Williams, but I would hate to not have Williams on this team because of Salmons. Although if we don't sign Williams (and depending on how much we resign Thompson for), we could sign a decent backup big for 3-5 mil (Maybe K. Martin or J. Hill). I don't think Hayes and Whiteside are going to cut it.
