Worst part is that that's garbage. The absolute LAST thing you ever want to do is finish .500, unless it be as a young team on the rise. Not good enought to win anything. And not bad enought to get help in the draft. Just a mediocre blah pile of nothing.

I know it isn't great, but it would save at least a little face. But you're right, no playoffs, ( in the west) and no draft picks.

I've been a gloomy naysayer for a while, but I believe and have always believed in Mike Bibby. I'm going to surprise myself and say that Peja rapidly matures - wakes up to "contract year" reality - and the Kings slide into the 8th spot with a better than .500 record.

I'm also starting to think Geoff is going to actually stand pat with this club.

most likely not, this is a mediocre team and is very inconsistent. They win a few and then they go on a losing streak.

When the Kings were at their best, their longest losing streak for the year was 2!! No other NBA team did that in that year 01-02. If they can get on their hustle horse and start winning 3 of 5 or 6/7 of 10 for awhile, we can get back to 3rd in Pacific Div, we're only 3 games in lost column from there now.

Consistency. Pure and simple will get them above 500 for the year and back toward 50 wins. But that will require a 37-14 record from here on out. Tough. Not impossible but very improbable at this point. 32-19 is similar to winning 3 of every 5 and once and awhile 4 of 5. That would make me happy.

We have 29 road games and 22 home games remaining. And not the easy local West Coast road games either. Big, long, country-crossing road trips. Bonzi is out until February. Reef likely until the All-Star break. Peja is ailing. Talk of winning 50 is just really out there. Winning 41 would be a reasonable accomplishment at this point, albeit one that would arguably actually hurt the franchise rather than help it.

Its weird, but if your team has been really bad, it's so exciting to get to the playoffs. However, I can't get excited about the Kings squeaking into the playoffs and likely getting smacked out in the first round.

At this point I think I'd rather we took our chances on maybe getting a good lottery pick and doing what we can over the summer to really give this team a more hopeful future. I know the lottery is a crapshoot, but I don't want to limp along just being mediocre every season, not really bad like we used to be and not really good like we recently were.

I do think something will happen before the trade deadline. Maybe just wishful thinking, tho.

The Kings are only 2 1/2 games out of the playoffs
Yeah, but there's a lot of teams right around that mark. Look at the whole northwest division. things don't usually stay that way come playoff time, not in the west. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's possible, and I want to believe it will happen. It's just going to be a long road.

I feel like we are the Timberwolves of last year. Just below .500 and a complete dissapointment team in the NBA. I hope we don't head the same direction as them and miss or make playoffs by a few game because than we won't have a good lottery pick.

I can't believe 61 people think this team has a chance of getting near .500 for any stretch. Seriously, 80% think that this team will see .500 before the year is out. Kings are 6 under and falling fast. Stick a fork in 'em, they're done.

Of course people are going to get all wild and rattled after a game like tonight vs. the Pacers.

I don't think getting to .500 is totally out. Playoffs? I'd say not.

^^ that's the frustrating thing, really.

the schedule has been fairly easy so far.

it's definitely just going to get harder and harder from here on out.

Voted for "not a chance". And I'm not proud of my vote. But if we love our team, we should hope that they stay below .500 and even suck more and wish Petrie still knows how to pick a rising and real star from the draft. This season for me is over and out. Sorry.
