I got 3rd with Jerryd Bayless selected!

Which begs the interesting question. If by some silly chance we end up with the 1st pick who would Petrie select?!

Personally, I would go with Rose but I have a funny feeling that Petrie might go with Beasley!

I got Speights 3 times in a row at #12. Not bad, probably best available AND fills a need.

I think mathematically our chances of that are in the 800:1 range

Obviously #12 or #13 is our best shot, but...Speights??? He doesn't even deserve to be ranked that high; frankly, I'm a bit skeptical. Yeah, he comes from a winning program and that may have boosted his stock, but he should be a mid 20s pick at best IMO. He shoots at high percentages and has some offensive skills, but he's not versatile at all and lacks great athleticism and height for his position. When we need a defensive intimidator, Speights should not be our pick at all.

Nevertheless, when you can count your athletic players on half a hand, and do almost the same for your players who aren't undersized, a 6'10", 245 pound guy who is pretty athletic doesn't sound so bad at all. We do need a defensive intimidator, but who is, that we have any shot at getting? Thabeet?

Whoever we pick is going to have some problems. That's how things are when you're #12.

It's a good thing I'm not the "lucky fan" who will get to draw for the Kings. I kept coming up with the 12th slot and either Speights or Westbrook, except....

One time I did it, we dropped to #13, because the Warriors (.5%) got #1. OMG, I would hate that! I have a headache now, just thinking that's even remotely possible.

Same here... 20 tries, got 14 Speights, 5 Westbrooks and 1 Arthur (where GS had gotten Beasley and dropped us to 13th).

I wonder how hard it would be to relocate an old graveyard to under Oracle Arena?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=NHHCecDt-NA (Magic got the no.1 pick with 1 out of 66 chances)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=UYFTL13fgLg&feature=related (Hornets jump from 14th to 3rd)

Think positive thoughts.

Interesting that Chad Ford thinks we'd take Bayless over Lopez. I'm not so sure who I'd go with at #3.

Anyone else curious what he thinks our big board looks like? From what I've seen posted here, he figures it's something along the lines of:

1. Beasley
2. Rose
3. Bayless
....
Augustin
Westbrook
Jordan
Speights
Arthur
Gallinari

I guess this based on who he has us picking when certain players are available. Anyone played enough to fill in the gaps from other scenarios?

I must be terribly unlucky. First try I got the 14th pick with Portland getting the 1st and Warriors getting the third. That looks like it has a .03% chance of happening.

You're not the season ticket holder that's representing us at the draft lottery are you? ;)

WOuld Geoff really take a guy like Speights over a Kosta Koufos?

We already have Kosta Koufos, except his name is Spencer Hawes. Koufos might be a better shot blocker, but Hawes has a more mature offensive game IMO. So yea, I'd say he'd take Speights over Koufos if he had to decide between the two.

But remember, you're talking about a guy who drafted 3 SGs in a row.

Yea, but the guard position is a little different and he was picking late in the draft in 05 too so he was really just taking who he thought was BPA in Garcia. Douby was a combo guard not a 6-7 sg/sf. So yea, he does have a habit of picking up redundant talent, it's a little different in picking two nearly identical young centers when it's extremely unrealistc that either one could play PF on a regular basis.
