PJ Brown

PJ Brown may be a good alternative to the kings PF woes.... he is 35 years old, but he is as tough as they come... a charles oakley type... he can rebound and defend... he would be a 10pt, 10 rebs per game player for the kings... he has a reasonable $8mil per, 2 year deal, which will give the kings salary cap relief in 2 years or trade bait next year.... i think he is the tough SOB in the middle that would help make brad miller a little tougher....

the hornets are desperate to get bodies, to fill some holes... if petrie could swing a Kenny Thomas and Corliss williamson trade for PJ Brown and Speedy Claxton... the hornets would have a younger starting PF, since they woun't be vying for any championships the next few years... and corliss could start for the hornets at SF, since they have not resigned Lee Nailon, their incumbant... the hornets are over loaded with PG, once they resign dan dickau, so they will need to unload speedy... the kings would get their tough, defensive minded PF and a backup PG....

PF PJ Brown/ Skinner or FA (Songaila/ Griffin)
SF Peja Stoyakovic/ FA (Evans or Barnes)
C Brad Miller/ Skinner or FA (Hunter)
SG Bonzi Wells/ Martin/ Garcia
PG Mike Bibby/ Claxton

A few years ago, maybe. As it is, he's not going to get us into contention, and I don't really see why we would pick up a 35 yr old PF for any other reason. Kenny is overmatched, but he and Skinner are competent enough that pciking up old PJ isn't going to make a huge difference for us.

Actually think he would be a perfect Phil Jackson power forward -- in fact think they would have been better off getting him rather than Malone a few years back. Now today you have to assume he's imminently available from the completely rebuilding Hornets, but I don't know if the Lakers think they're close enough to contending to bother with a 35 yr od PF.

I like the idea if there is no one else available. He has put up decent numbers throughout his entire career. In fact, hasn't he put up a career average of around 10 rebounds per game not to mention the tough nose defense that he plays in the post. He can also block a shot every now and then and shoots a high percentage from the field. The problem is that he is aging fast and I wouldn't give up too much to get him. I'd rather see the kings go after someone much younger like Chandler.

Yes, but let's get a starter first.

Oh, you meant......

no.

Seriously though, I do like PJ Brown, but only in a reserve role. Don't get him anywhere close to being in the starting lineup.
