The Pistons announce that they have waived Josh Smith. Wow.
The Pistons announce that they have waived Josh Smith. Wow.
Bet he ends up on a contender.
If he was bad enough to be released by the Pistons, I am not sure any contender will be so excited to bring him into the locker and possibly ruin the team's chemistry.
kings can get him now w/ their trade exception

A team like Dallas or San Antonio might be what's best for Josh Smith; I can't imagine that either Rick Carlisle or Gregg Popovich believe that Josh Smith is what's best for them.I think a stable winning organization like dallas or SA could bring out the best in him, for all his faults he is still an incredible athlete, playmaker and defender.
According to Woj, our best offer was JT AND Landry. No expirings.
Well... This is kind of surprising. So I believe that there is a period now (a day or 2) where teams can claim him off waivers, and the highest offer gets to keep him. If he clears waivers, he can sign with whoever he likes. I think he is worth the gamble. We wouldn't have to give anyone up.

My top-5 predictions for a Josh Smith destination: (1) Kings, (2) Kings, (3) Kings, (4) Rockets, (5) Kings. ("Josh Smith? Josh Smith?")
Not exactly. Any team may try to claim him off waivers and they would then pay the entirety of his contract. If more than one team makes a waiver claim then the team with the worse record gets him. If no team makes a waiver claim (very likely IMO) then he becomes a free agent.
Williams, Ben, Guy, Smith, Cousins..... my thoughts are divided regarding this possibility.
