Pierce Thinking Of A Trade

Boston Herald -
If the Celtics don’t turn their dismal season around, Paul Pierce can picture himself in another uniform before the Feb. 23 trade deadline.

And he wouldn’t mind winding up with a contender.

“It’s something I’d give a lot of thought to,” Pierce said before scoring 32 points in last night’s 104-102 Celtics’ loss to the Mavericks at TD Banknorth Garden.

Statistically, Pierce is having his best season.

“But I’d rather have a season like this when we’re winning,” he said.

“A career is defined by winning games and championships.”

Pierce, 28, and in his eighth season, said he feels he’s running out of time. “I’m not getting any younger,” Pierce said. “(A trade) is something I’d give a lot of thought to.”

Pierce said he might lobby for a trade himself or it could be instigated by Celtics executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge.

Pierce entered last night’s game averaging 26.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists. He’s shooting just under 50 percent.

Some teams would consider Pierce just what they needed in order to make a deep playoff run.

If Peirce wants to be on a winning team why would he want to be on the Kings at the moment

With Pierce on the Kings they BECOME a winning team. Pierce + Bibby + Miller + Bonzi + Reef. Might just be a pretty good team. Bench still sucks (and sucks more with Martin leaving), but that can be fixed.

I think we are beyound just one move to make a winning team. Pierce alone will not make us a good team. See how we have been playing lately it is not just from the lack of talent that is making us lose.

A single trademay not solve all of the problems with this team, however a trade that brings in a LEADER will make a HUGE difference, and conversly any number of trades that do NOT bring a leader to this team will be rearangeing the deck chairs on the Titanic.

After watching this collection for some time now, I am MOST impressed at how the total is actually LESS than the sum of it's parts, truely bizare, but also clearly a sceanrio that dictates trades are a must and the top priority has to be bring in a proven leader. Pierce fits the bill.

Pierce and Tony Allen for Peja, Martin, and Corliss?

Works on realgm. Get er done!
So does Pierce for Stojakovic and Thomas... why give up Martin for an undersized 2?

good point vj9999
anyways i think pierce will really help us, hell what have we got to lose? What did Peja do this season? He shot enough bricks to build a damn house

pierce is talking about going to a contender and winning games=doesn't want to be traded to sac

Then again maybe Pierce could help drive us into being a contender. I'd say we at least look like a franchise that is attempting to do that. Boston went young, they are looking down the road and the Celtics roster says as much.

His fg % is barely down, and his three pt % is slightly higher. They are actually both the same at .416 %. That isn't exactly throwing bricks.

Peja, Miller, Corliss & Hart

for

Pierce, Blount, Dickau and Perkins

..... unlikely but where talking about ainge here

and i like this move only if rick is fired and we put a new system in with a new coach

Why should Ainge care about what Pierce wants?

If I were the Celtics GM, and my star player told me that he wanted to be traded (whether to a contender, or anywhere else), I'd trade him to the worst team in the opposite conference just to spite him...

... Which could very well be the Kings...

With our luck he'll go to Portland.

That's what they did to Ainge, banished him to Sacramento on a 25-win team. Ainge wants to return the favor to Pierce. He remembers what it was like.

Screw it go and get pierce. Peja+Someone+pick. That atleast shows this team WANTS to win. Then get some interior d and sign someone like NeNe in the offseason. Then the next year we'd be contenders for sure:

Bibby/Bonzi/Pierce/NeNe/Miller

I like it.

so peja does not want to win and pierce is a team leader?? i hope that this trade does not go through; if it does, the kings would be in even more turmoil.

why would they be in more turmoil? and what trade are you talking about? depensing on the trade and the players involved will have an effect on which team gets the better deal

and the fact the kings are in deep turmoil now, change cannot hurt a team cuz we have nothing to lose.

ohh and id take pierce over peja in a heartbeat especially at this point..

Paul is a proven player who has done well both in the regular season and the playoffs and he has something peja is lacking in. HEART and DESIRE and a better allround game. he would be more of a motivation to the younger teamates. As much as i love peja i would take Pierce over him any day.

i don't understand this: how has paul pierce become a "proven player"? he never ever played on a contender; how do you know that he will perform well? and mind you, the kings are looking for a leader, not a scorer. bibby needs a more athletic version of miller, miller needs an athletic 4 (or 5). there are many other pieces missing. how is the addition of pierce to this team is an answer to "any" of the missing pieces?

what in the world are u saying??? hes been to the playoffs numerous times.. hes been to the conference finals where they lost to the nets... but thats not even the main reason i'd want him here.. its the fact of how many times i've seen him put 20+ points up in the 4th quarter.. i guess you dont remember that game against the nets where they were down by 20+ points going into the 4th and he brought them back and they won that game in the PLAYOFFS!!! now tell me how many times has a player even with kobes skills done that let alone peja of all people?? if you dont wanna trade peja for paul FREAKIN pierce i dont know what you'd be thinking.

id love to trade peja and thomas for pierce and filler.... start skinner or corliss and actually play sampson, things couldnt get much worse at this point..... we'd be shoe-ins for next season, but then again; so was houston....

i say, "do it now"

Yes, but why oh why would Boston do that?

Takes two to tango and all that.

Because Ainge is an idiot and an assclown.
exactly

and to two cents

the same season us kings lost in game 7 to the fakers in the western conference finals the celtics were abel to make it to the eastern conference finals all due to Pierce and Walker with a 49-33 record and they ended up losing in game 6 to the nets.

Pierce is proven.

and one player is not gonna be the solution to all our problems but aquiring pierce which i will be less than a 50% chance of happening will be a start. Remember Rebuilding?
