www.fanball.com this morning:

"But before we hammer the one like we mean it, let's take a moment to pile praise upon probable Executive of the Year, Geoff Petrie.

Sacramento's mastermind is a former winner of the award, and after netting Cuttino Mobley for Doug Christie (have we seen the last of him?), and dumping Chris Webber's contract at the perfect time (after this year, the Sixers are on the hook for three years at $60 million), he has to win it again.

Petrie has ascended to the realm of sports architect, where his moves should not be questioned, rather copied. If Jerry West is the league's best exec, Petrie is a close second."

Nice to know outsiders notice the work of our great Gm as well. It would be something if he won the award again!

I've been visiting a few other NBA team forums lately since the trade... a lot of other fans are saying "don't mess with Petrie and the Kings when it comes to trade"...that was nice to hear. :)

and all those people that got pissed off about the webb trade. hahahah
we rode the horse til the legs broke time to jump on the next one. nba is a business

Of course, the flip side now is that no one is gonna do any more trades at all :D you can be TOO good at your job, hehe

I am not worried too much about that. He will find a "moron" to trade with
;)

Petrie really hasn't ripped anyone off or made "morons" out of the them. (with the possible exception of the Christie trade) He just makes good moves which generally helps his teams and generally helps the other teams a little bit less.

The 76er fans must be hating life now...did they really think Webber was going to take them to the next level?

By the way, the whole Kings team seems to be moving a lot better now that they don't have to wait for Webber to reach the other end of the court...

Shame it couldn't just be good enough to give props to Petrie and not bag on Webber again.

Speaking of bagging on players, forget Webber, let's look at Peja. What kinda deal you think the GM can pull together for a Peja trade? The guy doesn't seem like he wants to play for the kings at all! The interesting thing about peja's play is that he may find himself having a hard time finding a job after this year. He can only hope that other teams will look at this year and figure that he just didn't have love for the kings and that he will step up if brought into their franchise.

If the GM can pull an awesome deal together that involves Peja, I will trully marvel at his genius.

That is not what I am seeing. Earlier in the year I questioned if Peja wanted to be a King. I think right now he is just trying to hard. His sub par play has gotten in his head. I think it is too early to call for Pejas head. His injury could also still be bothering him. I think he needs to start playing up to his abilities, but he also deserves some more time to get it together.

Even if it is his injury and not a lack of heart ... Webber certainly didn't get any mercy for his knee and I feel it very safe to see that Webber had the biggest heart of any king. You mention that Peja needs more time. In bricklayers post on the grades for the game, I praise adelman for playing peja as much as he does because I see it as forcing a response from Peja before the all too critical playoffs. If Adelman sticks to this policy of playing peja, you may well be vindicated or I may be, but praise to adelman for trying to get this hammered out before the playoffs.

I agree with you about Webbers heart. I was on the side to give him time to recover with the knee injury and he amazed me with how well he was able to play for all intents and purposes on one leg. I love the Kings all of them, I just think it is too soon to ship Peja off.
