Peja likes the Heat?

An article in the New York Post today first explores the Peja-Artest situation (with Reggie Miller I think) being told there is nothing on the table nor is it currently being considered (in Indiana).

The article goes on to say "Not that Peja doesn't have other suitors: the Heat, his first choice (he owns a South Beach condo and fantasizes about finishing his career living off the open looks Shaq would create) surely have made a bid, and that goes for the Bulls, as well."

Hate to say it but can you image Peja on the outside, with Shaq in the middle and Dwayne Wade both getting double teamed all the time?? That would be scary!!

Excluding Shaq, the only player we would want in exchange would be Dwayne Wade. And ain't no way the Heat are dealing Wade.

with a guy like dwyane wade, you dont need to worry about a bench. he's incredibly talented, and still very young, so you basically trade everything you need to in roder to get him, and worry about building around him afterwards. you've got time with a guy like wade. not as much time with a guy like KG, lets say.

Yep -- although oddly Vescey seems to be a lot closer to the truth this year for some reason. Been rumors he's even been contacting actual sources this year rather than just making them up.

But in any case, that's one of his classic "how the hell does he know that" throwaway statements. "the Heat, his first choice (he owns a South Beach condo and fantasizes about finishing his career living off the open looks Shaq would create)"???

Okay Pete -- at what point did Peja tell you about his fantasies, or even prioritize for you where he wants to play? If you've got that scoop, why the hell haven't you made it a feature? It would be a big one. More likely Pete's just talking out of his *** as usual -- putting two and two together. Condo in Miami? Check. Perect outside compliment to Shaq and Wade? Check. Well OBVIOSULY must be what Peja is thingking too.

Note I don't disagree with Vescey's logic -- Peja SHOULD want to finish his career in Miami by all rights. I just sincerely doubt that he has heard anythign more than I have on the topic.

Obviously Wade is completely unattainable, likely even if we offered them our entire starting lineup.

I would think the Heat woudl obviously covet Peja, and would be willing to give up any combination of players not including Shaq or Wade. But there is no way for them to do that without involving a 3rd team, and actually considering their availablke talent to trade, not even sure what third team would take the Heat's overpaid misfits in exchange for sending us something tasty.

They screwed it up with all of those moves this summer. Before that they were emerging as a SERIOUS threat to sign Peja and would ahve had the room to do so. But with all the random stuff they picked up, don't have room anymore beyond the MLE.

Peja has said repeatedly this year that he would like to finish his career in Sacramento. Until I hear anything different from him, I'm going with that. The New York Times is one notch above a tabloid.

Peja should be resigned IMO
Honestly if it comes down to availability of funds, and we can either re-sign Peja or Bonzi, I'd re-sign Bonzi. He's more of an all around player. He's a warrior. He's won me over in 20 games the way Peja has not in 7 years.

Amen. These are the type of players I crave. Bonzai.

If the article is true, I suspect Peja is far more interested in a dominant big man in the paint that demands a double-team than proximity to a stupid condo on the beach. Please.

I actually would not presume that much. I really think that a beach condo in Miami could be more enticing to Peja than anything having to do with the team located there.

At this point, I just want Peja gone. Let's just tear it down, starting with Peja. Maybe Bibby and Miller need to go too, I don't know. But Peja, for financial as well as basketball reasons, is priority one.

I don't want anything the Heat are offering though. If it's between Deng or Artest, I would take Deng. Mostly because he's younger, and I'm a little partial to Duke players, no matter how irrational that may be in regards to the NBA.

we should trade him for udonis haslem and posey. that would be sweet. that would let the team score more and get more rebounding on the inside and another good guy of the bench.

That would be a good trade.

Peja may want to go to the Heat, but the Heat have nothing the Kings would possibly want in a trade, unless they're high on Dorell Wright as a prospect.

In all fairness to Peja, he hasn't actually said ANYTHING. He's trying very hard, it appears, to NOT step in anything like what happened before. All this speculation is being done without input from Peja, which I think is definitely a step in the right direction.

Nothing the Kings need like a 283rd midlevel PF.

The LAST thing we need is bodies. Trade Peja, its a trade up this time. No more Webber trades.
Ah, I forgot you had SAR. Haslem wouldn't start.... I was thinking POsey/Haslem could add some nice defense to the lineup.

Do you know how many NBA players own Condos in Florida? nearly 150 of them. Does this mean that it is all their fantasies to play for the heat.

Sports Writers have about as much integrity for the TRUTH as Bill Clinton does, Don't ever believe a word that either says, it's mostly made up.

The only true fantasy here is this "Story"
LOL :D
