Pedja?

What is wrong with him.? He needs to rebound better. I do not want to see anymore 2 rebound games from him this year. We were lucky yesterday because we were playing one of the weakest teams in the league. We can not afford to see him play this crappy when it comes to board work. It has to get better or else we do not win it. We need to have everyone playing to thier fullest if we are to it. We do not have amount of talent we had in the last couple of years. We need our top 6 player to work their buts off in order to get past Minn( yuck I hate that team more then other) Spurs and even the Suns.

i doubt that we'd have much of a problem with the suns.... i mean, nash... in the second round of the playoffs??? he's gonna be burnt out by then, especially if they meet dallas in the first round. but if we get minny in the first that may be our asses.... hope that we win, but damn.

I think we will have a hard time because we always have a hard time when it comes to athletic teams. They are a team we used to be a couple of years ago.

I agree that we need more boards from our SF, but it's December. I think Pedja needs to work on a couple of things, along with just about everyone else on the team.

It's really premature to be looking towards the playoffs right now. A lot of things can happen between now and April.

We do not have the amount of talent we had in the last couple of years? Well, considering Adelman will most likely go with a 7 and MAYBE an 8-man rotation in the playoffs, we have:

Bibby, Doug, Pedja, Chris, Brad, Bobby, Tag, Darius...

Last year we had Bibby, Doug, Pedja, Chris, Vlade, Bobby, Brad, Peeler (?)...

It doesn't look like that big a drop in talent to me. In fact, we have a shot blocker now - something we haven't had in a while. While we did lose Vlade, we had planned on starting Brad at the 5 anyway, so it comes down to what we needed coming off the bench. Quite frankly, I think Tag will do more for us this year off the bench than Vlade would have been able to...especially in regards to boards and blocks.

but this is steve nash we're talking about.... he's gonna be running on fumes by then, after playing all 82 games and dallas or minny in the first. he'll be hooked up to a respirator during timeouts.

You see this year we do not have the same opposition like we had last year the west got stronger and we made a lateral move. We still did not address our weakness that is the lack of athletism and rebounding and of course defense. We are turning into the 90s Jazz. We keep getting older as a team and we will find our selves looking at wrong end of the playoffs in a couple of years if the trend continues.

What does that have to with the topic at hand. If you nothing to type then do not waste the board space. I will not get into history with you because it might make the US look bad compared to Canada:D and this is neither the topic or board to discuss this.

NO offense meant ot Canadians in genreal, in fact there is only one Canadian I dis like and would call geasy, and that guy is in phoenix.

We addressed a big weakness in the lack of presence inside as far as someone who can block shots and get boards. Tag will be a valuable addition...

We keep getting older? Okay... but I think the addition of Erick Daniels, Maurice Evans, Kevin Martin and Matt Barnes refutes that statement at least in part, and the acquisition of Darius has already shown dividends.

IF our starting five can play consistently at a level we know they are capable of playing, we should be able to compete with ANY team in the league. There's a much smaller margin for error because of the improvement of some of the other teams, but I'm not ready to write this team off quite yet.

What about Rick Fox? That should make two in your list of greasy Canadians. He is the only Canadian athlete other then the hockey player who shall be nameless(rythmes with fall)

DING!!! DING!!! DING!!!

We have a winner in the "Who can hijack a thread with the most off-topic question" contest!!!

Sorry VF21, but a player that plays 9.7 minutes a game cannot be considered a valuable addition in my opinion. This is his average including the games that Webber can't play because he is resting his knee. If this is the case, forget about any contributions of Ostertag in the playoffs, and especially forget about him being valuable in that sense, when it really matters.

i just think that we need more shooters..... you can never have enough shooters...

I am not writing this team off either I just think we have to play to the fullest inorder to win it. All I am saying it not getting easier. Also I think Ostertag does not bring in rebounds like a 7'2" center should (neither did Vlade though) that is why I think it was a lateral move. The players must be healthy and play to the level of thier talents, which of course is not happening right now which is why I posted this in the first place.

Aries - Yes, you can have too many shooters. Ask Dallas...

sloter - A player who can block 4 shots a game in limited minutes IS valuable. That kind of performance can - as it's done already this year - stop an opponent in its tracks and allow us to regroup.

Last night, Tag had 6 pts, 6 boards, 4 assists and 4 blocks. I think that's just about as much as you could ask of a back-up center.

But we do agree on the most important points. The team IS going to have to step up and play elite ball. It may not be happening yet, but I have faith it will. If it doesn't happen, we're going to have a long off-season to talk about what might have been...

;)

thats only because nelson plays too many players in one game.... adelman doesnt play enough. we could use one more..... besides bobby, no one on our bench can come out and just score, they can defend(some) which is great... but none of them can score thats why our starters are logging in so many minutes because our bench cant score.

No we need better defenders who are athletic and who can atleast rebound the ball. I keep on seeing us play good defense and I see the other teamn get an offensive rebound that what kils us on the defensive end. That is why we need athletic defenders

Not to waste more board space, but that's what I do. Sorry.

There have been some good Canadians, although I think most of them have died. Let's see, there was: Nelson Edde, Jeanette MacDonald, Hank Snow, Oscar Peterson, Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray, and one of the blonde twins in the latest Coors commercial.

Peja is occupied with a beautiful woman and his child. What's the problem?

we need athletic offensive minded players.... that can attack the basket. but no matter what, we need someone who can come off of the bench and score. that way peja can get a rest, our lead wont dwindle down to nothing, and... well thats pretty much it. if they attacked the basket instead of jaking up 3's they would get more rebounds.... well offensive ones....

In general I agree with you, but unfortunatly those guys don't grow on trees, and we would have to take some one out of the line up to make room. The clasic trae Pedja for Artest scenario comes to mind. Evans may be the guy givne time to develop, and when you are picking deep in the lotery the only way to get a great defender is develop him or sign him as a FA. There just is not a viable ption out there now so you gotta dance wth them what brun ya... get the guys we ahve to black out more, rebound better and maybe even develop a zone for faster teams. Pedja has actualy been palaying good D, second best on the team if you ask me. Trading him of DC for better D makes no sense. I have faith the boys will get it together on D as the season wears on.

That is what we need from Ostertag consistent play in the defensive including rebounding I just do not see that from him That is one of the problems the Jazz had from Ostertag is consistent play.

The only thing I hate those "off-seasons" we had the last couple years. I want to see us win.

So which is it?

Shooters or "athletic offensive minded players that can attack the basket"?

Basically, what we need are for the players we have to play up to their capabilities. If they do that, we're in good shape...
