PDA Taking Position with Denver Nuggets

I had the opposite take on the subject. Bruski occasionally does some decent reporting and analysis, but he has massive blind spots on a number of issues (not least of which is anything dealing with a certain former Kings point guard) and laid out some self-serving retrospective that didn't jibe with the way a few publicly known events went down. When I hear him getting some of the objective stuff wrong, I am less inclined to trust his account of furtive back-office shenanigans.

I question this. Bruski's the only one who's had a consistent story the entire time. Especially if you're considering these "publicly known events" to be reported by the likes of others who have changed their tune repeatedly. Perhaps you're letting his evaluation of certain point guards bias his reporting to sound like a "self-serving retrospective."

If we see the nuggets move up and steal someone we were going to draft this place is going to explode.

Mistake after mistake after mistake with this club. I don't know about anyone here but I laugh out loud when I hear grant or anyone else say that this upcoming year will be a much better year, meaning much improved. This team, from the Owner on down is still a complete mess and personally I think it is dam near impossible that we will see some miraculous improvement.
I see a train wreck moving into the new arena. The arena will still be sold out but year 2 and 3 at the new arena could possibly be a complete cluster F.

Again, just my opinion...........

I am just glad he will have ZERO input on who the Kings draft in the new couple of weeks. Let's see if Vlade can strike gold.

As we've learned this past year, owners aren't always as smart as they think they are.
I suspect that Vivek wanted to be more hands-off, so he let his basketball people (PDA and Mullin) do the decision-making. Turns out, they made a really, really bad decision on firing Malone. What a career-threatening move.

Amazing how much hate there is for this guy. You can say anything you want, call him names, etc. and nobody cares here but if you criticize Boogie you're likely to get banned.

That's patently untrue. We moderators have not, to my knowledge, banned anyone for criticizing a player. If I'm wrong, I'd really like you to point it out.

The number of people removed from this forum over the past couple of year has been miniscule and has, for the most part, been because someone continually violated the "don't be a jerk" rule. Other than that, the best way to get banned is to post nothing but negative comments with the obvious intent of either derailing a thread or just stirring up crap.

No. His team has never won 30 games. I can't wait until the day people recognize that basketball is a team sport. Maybe when that day comes, we won't have ridiculous posts like these...

Agreed, it's a team game and he can't do it alone. But I think part of the problem with fans is that they see what players like LeBron James has done in the play offs (ie. carrying the Cavs to back to back victories), or what Westbrook did for a lot of the regular season (ie carry OKC on his back), and they think that Cousins should be able to do the same here.

I appreciate that LeBron has got support from his teammates raising their game, and Westbrook had the likes of Ennes and Ibaka playing alongside him. But from the outside these players really carried their teams. And I think that's what they want to see Cousins start to do from here on out. Carry this team and make his teammates step up their own games.

Not taking anything away from Boogie, but for the case of LeBron, I'm starting to believe that he is just that good.

All it takes is having the in-power group circle the horses and perceive you as a negative influence on the boards, and a banning can happen.

That said, New Era is hilariously off-base in that post you replied to.

The Kings are like the worst reality TV show that I tune in to watch every day because I think it's going to get better. They just voted off the annoying guy off the island and brought in a guy from season 1 to shake things up. There's been more drama than actual basketball wins in the last decade.

I think if we don't get past 45 wins this season, then it'll really tell us where Cousins is at compared to the rest of the league. Is he a guy who can climb us to that next step? There will be no more excuses next year. He has a perfectly fine #2 option guy in Rudy. We may or may not have a #3 guy in Collison, but Collison is a solid player. We have 2 young SGs and one is bound to flourish next season. No more excuses for anything next season will be my deamenor. Not to mention we have a HOF coach now and a full offseason/training. AD reached the playoffs with Tyreke as the #2 option and Holiday injured half the year. Gordon's only useful trait was 3pt shooting, and he only played 61 games. Ryan Anderson was terrible this year shooting under .400 and only played 61 games too. Asik is not a starting C and fits poorly next to AD on offense. If AD can get to the playoffs with Monty Williams as the HC and half his team injured, Cousins should be able to reach 45 wins next year with Karl and Rudy on his side.

Next year I believe we are destined for great things.

Pelicans were 7-3 without Davis and you know what we were without cousins.

sorry man but Cousins also has to fight what might be the worst FO in sports.

Some here will only realize what we had in cousins after he is on a competent team that knows how to utilize him. He will be great, it just won't be here.

And again, untrue. If you want to continue this conversation, please take it to PMs.

The mods generally give a LOT of rope and warnings, even to the jerks, before banning anyone. There is often much more going on behind the scenes (PM's with the individual, etc.) that determine whether that action ultimately happens, and rarely does the rest of the board know all the facts about any particular banning.

There's too much pressure being put on Cousins, we are talking about a HOF possibly GOAT player in LeBron carrying a Cavs team with a bunch of role players and were no bodies before playing along side of him. I do agree though that Cousins should be good enough to warrant the Kings winning more than 30 games, stability sure helps though and he has been in the worst possible situation possible so I will hold off on any further judgement but this is a huge year to see how much he can do with Karl, Gay and Collison along side of him.

as much as it pains me to say...I do agree and I feel Cousins would be better off career wise elsewhere. Just way too much turmoil for way too long, no other franchise in sports has gone through so much turmoil IMO like Sacramento has in the last couple of years. Dysfunction at its purest form. I want to see Cousins prosper and compete year in and year out for a championship and see if he really is as good as his numbers indicate, if that has to be on another team, so be it.

I'm not sure about Petrie.. the last time he was a good GM was over 5 years ago. The game has changed a lot since then, but I'm not opposed to the idea. I wonder how the Vlade-Petrie relationship would work

Consider this - had the Magoofs not intervened in their later years, this team might very well have Steph Curry paired with Boogie Cousins right now.

Geoff Petrie has historically opted to draft/acquire players that were extremely adept at shooting and passing. He drafted Peja, JWill and Kmart while trading for or signing CWebb, Vlade, Bibby and Bobby Jackson. Knowing what we know about his player preferences, I'm 99.9% confident that, had the Maloofs not been in his ear about Tyreke, he would have drafted Steph who, at that time, was a slender, quicker version of Bibby. Instead we got the great "it's changing" speech from the Gavin once they got the 1-on-1 player they wanted.

That fantasy aside, I still have complete faith in Petrie's ability to build a winning team and would love to have him back in some capacity - perhaps as an advisor to Vlade.

Fair enough. It just seems like DMC can do no wrong when it's pretty clear from watching games that he sometimes can be part of the problem. With PDA, everything is speculation. Nobody seems to have the true story about what's been going on behind the scenes. Personally, I think Vivek's meddling has been the biggest issue!

DMC gets plenty of flack about his attitude and needing to grow as a teammate and a leader. He needs to cut down on whining and stupid fouls. He needs to stop dribbling full court.

See - criticism is not an issue. ;)
